Top Ten Tuesday: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies (submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl)

I have way too many ideas so you’ll get my Top10 with 6 honourable mentions! *lol* Sorry, but there are a bunch of great book series I’d love to see on screen. DONE RIGHT, I may add! ;-P Everything they did with the Shadowhunters universe was such a disappointment! T_T So let’s hope those adaptions would be awesome! XD

Anyway, let’s start with the fun! *rubs hands*

Rankenzeile

1.) Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475
Now if that wouldn’t be the perfect book to make into a movie, I dunno! I’d love to see this rom-com on screen and I’d probably be swooning and laughing throughout the entire movie. *lol* The English/American gang was amazing and I’d love to see Alex’s mom and dad on screen! Also Henry… ahh I’d adore that precious cinnamon roll! ❤ Why is there no movie yet?! *lol*

2.) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

13519397There is no SJM fan who wouldn’t want to see this huge series of seven books on the screen! (Well, at least I don’t think there is. XD) This could be such an epic show and I’m sure it would be able to play in the league of „Game of Thrones“. The budget would have to be huge though because 7 books you could get clobbered over the head with would most definitely make for a lot of episodes. *lol*

3.) Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

32768522 I love Simon and Baz and I’d probably die if I’d see their story on screen but damn I’d be so willing to die that slow and blissful death! ❤ This series is so cute and fluffy and way more original than you might think for some sort of HP fanfiction. Also I’d be really curious how they’d implement the idea of „The Insidious Humdrum“. I’m sure that would be kind of a challenge. 😉

4.) Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

305234

This was the first faerie series I was obsessed with and I would love to see it on Netflix! Irial, Niall, Seth, Leslie, Sorcha, gosh I love this series so much! I’m sure a lot of people would watch it (if it would be done right) and the fandom would grow! As it is „Wicked Lovely“ is probably one of the most underrated faerie series out there, which is sad, because Melissa Marr wrote this series long before „Throne of Glass“ and ACOTAR were even a thing! Marr is the godmother of cruel and cunning faeries and I love her so much for it! 😛

5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

36381037

Okay, admittedly so far I’ve only read „Cinder“ and a short story but they were both great and I’d really love to see how they’d adapt it to the screen. The idea of fairy tales that have an original sci-fi and dystopian spin is just too good and I’d love to see the cast for Cinder, Iko, Levanna and Prince Kai! I think to write this now made me want to continue with the series. *lol* Guess it’s time to go for „Scarlett“ soon! XD

6.) Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

23395680. sy475

I can’t think of a book series that would be more suitable for being a Netflix show than this one! I swear the entire time I read those books I was like: Damn! This would be such a suspenseful movie!! Truth be told to read this actually felt like reading a movie so I’d love to see Netflix’s take on this series. Also I want to swoon over Kady, Ezra, Nick and especially AIDAN!!! *lol* ❤

7.) Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman

28954189

I just love everything about those books. The idea of a world in which no one has to die and the Scythedom regulates the population by randomly gleaning people is such an intriguing concept. Take all the other things that are part of this and you’ve the concept for an amazing dystopian series. Also the questions that are posed in each and every single book! Ahh! I’m sure if I’d see this only as a movie my mind would be as boggled as after watching „Inception“ for the very first time. *lol*

8.) Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud

13555073

This would be THE series to watch after Supernatural! XD Okay, it would be more middle grade and less X rated, but I’m sure it would be at least as scary. 😛 I wish this series would have existed when I was a kid because I would have loved it so much! Stroud’s world building is amazing and I’m convinced this would have even more fans as a Netflix series. 😉 I mean „Stranger Things“ does have a lot of fans too even though most of the MCs are kids. XD I’m sure this would work here too.

9.) Villains Series by V.E. Schwab

40874032. sy475

This just needs to be a movie/show!!! Period! I would love to see Victor and Eli on screen and ahh I’d probably die if they would manage to assemble a great cast! ❤ I swear just to see Victor Vale on TV would give me a heart-attack. I love him so much and I love that this series is all morally grey and that you don’t know if you hate or love the characters. *lol* Yes, „Villains“ definitely would make for a fast paced and intriguing Netflix show! I NEED it NOW!!!

10.) Gentleman Bastard by Scott Lynch

865293
I love this series so much, especially because it’s so cleverly done. You have to keep your wits about you in that one and there are so many lies and deceptions that it’s not easy to identify them all. ;-P Also the world building!!! It’s marvellous! Just to see Locke and Jean in action would be enough for me! XD Those two are amazing and I’m honest here, I’d love to have a face for Locke. Since he’s a con man he fits in everywhere and is very conscious of his appearance so I always had difficulties to imagine him properly. *lol*

Honorable Mentions:

11.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Kvothe on TV? YES, PLEASE!!! I love my redhead and I’d be sooo down to see his journey as a Netflix show! Well, maybe one day Patrick Rothfuss will finally write the 3rd book and we’ll actually get a series! A boy can always dream, right? *lol*

12.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

All I’m saying is: WARNER!!! ❤ Ahh oh gods, if they’d cast him right I’d probably drool and swoon throughout the entire series! And yes, this would have to be a series because there are 6 main books and a lot of novellas. So lots of potential and a good storyline. Give me Warner and Kenji! Please?! XD

13.) The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I’ve loved this series so much and I’d die to see Adelina and Raffaele on screen! I was always so curious about how they’d look and if they’d make it real good this movie series could be amazing! Also I think we need more series with morally grey characters and this one, well, it would be perfect! 😉

14.) Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

Okay, I’d probably die a slow and painful death watching this show but I’d still love every second of it, because Fitz is one of my favourite fantasy characters ever and to see him suffer so much would be pure hell! Still, I love Fitz and the Fool and I’d be willing to accept the consequence of getting my heart ripped out as long as it’s done masterfully. ❤

15.) Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

Yes, I’m aware this is a controversial series but I’d still like to see it on screen. I mean obviously it’s not for a young audience but hey, lots of people watched „Game of Thrones“ and this even though it was cruel and brutal and had slaves in it. So I guess there would be a market for this one as well. Especially because from book two on this is one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read and it’s AWEsome!!! ❤

16.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

As far as I know there IS going to be a series, but I have no idea when it will come out and if it will be available for me. XD I would watch the hell out of this because as you all know TRC is one of my favourite book series ever and yes, I’m honest here, if the cast wouldn’t be okay I’d be devastated. *lol* So they better make an effort to keep to the books!!! Or – and I’m aware I’m repeating myself here because I feel so strongly about all those books and series I just mentioned – I might actually die! No pressure, right?! ;-P

17.) I wish I could say „The Shadowhunter World“ here but urgh, they made a movie and it sucked, they made a series and it sucked and by now I gave up hope that they’ll ever do it justice! >_< Apparently some things just aren’t meant to be on screen. *sighs*
