Achievements of 2020 & My bookish New Year’s resolutions for 2021

Hey there, my lovelies!

A new year just started and I thought it might be a good chance to take a closer look at my achievements of 2020. Once again this seems to have become a tradition and it’s always nice to take a closer look at what I wanted to achieve at the beginning of the year. I’m pretty certain most of my goals went right out of the window after Covid-19 hit us but maybe, just maybe, I actually managed to reach some of them? *lol* Anyway, let’s find out and compare notes so I can go right into the next year with a super clean slate. Also it’s always good to remember and to celebrate what we achieved, especially in 2020. I need a positive outlook into the next year, because I’m sure it will be better! ;-P

This said 2020 was one hell of a year and it cost me quite a lot of nerves and produced one or another grey hair. XD I won’t go into detail here because most of you already know about everything that’s been going on but let’s just say I’m glad 2020 is over! *lol* There, I’m being positive already! ;-P

So without further ado let’s go right to the awesome achievements and the good things that happened to me in 2020:

–  I recently celebrated my second year of blogging and it’s been a wild ride for sure! *lol* I just love to have my little corner in the internet and even though it’s small in comparison to bigger blogs it’s still my baby and I’m so glad I can be creative and totally myself on here. =) To have a space to call your own is amazing and right now my blog is exactly where I want it to be. XD

– I managed to be consistent and continued to write 2 blog posts a week. Some weeks (when I did  a TTT topic) I even accomplished to post thrice. 😉 For me that was a huge step and commitment so I’m really proud of going through with it!

– I somewhat managed to live more healthy than I did last year or at least I wasn’t ill as often as I was in 2019. I guess lots of lockdowns (we’re currently in the third) and partly working from home might have helped in that regard. *lol* Still, work was very demanding this year and I continued to commute to Vienna twice a week and even increased my working hours. In fact I learned lots of new things, swapped into another team and had to reorganize my entire working life. This by itself is actually a huge accomplishment now that I think about it. XD

– Despite everything I still managed to read 91 books this year and exceeded my own expectations! Considering I initially only wanted to reach 42 this is more than just awesome! ❤ (I’m such a mood reader though and only managed to read 13 books of My Book List 2020. That’s okay though, 2020 was way different than I expected it to be and it’s always better to follow your reading instincts than to fight through a book list you don’t feel like reading. And hey, the good news is that I almost finished My Book List 2019. *lol*)

– I invented not only my own tag – The LGBTQ+ Rep Book Tag (Original!) – but also a monthly blog meme called SASSY Saturday and I’m so glad some people actually do/did them! XD I put a lot of effort into those two and it’s so nice to see that other bloggers enjoy to do them too! I’m still trying to continue with my discussion post Fuss, Cuss & Discuss and even though I didn’t do it for quite a while Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs is still a thing! I focused a lot on writing reviews this year and I’m still working on finding a balance. So I’ll hopefully come up with a plan in 2021. 😉

– I continued to write! I know, I’ve been doing that for years but 2020 really made me creative and I didn’t only create my own blog tags or memes but I also wrote a lot of poetry, rp-posts and reviews. I just love to write and as long as I can do it I’ll be happy! 😀

– I was asked by an author if he could use a quote from my review in his „Praise for ….“ section for the next edition of his book and …. OF COURSE I SAID YES!!! *lol* I mean that’s such an honour and I can’t believe he actually wants to quote me in his book! XD I’m still kind of blown away by that tbh!

– I finally had the guts to change my „About Me“ section and I love that it shows me exactly the way I am! No hiding behind anonymous pics any longer. What you see and read is what you get. 😉 For me this was a huge step because even though we live in the 21st century not everyone is accepting and of course we all want to be accepted the way we are. I’ve reached a point in my life where it’s more important to be at peace with myself than to please others or to live up to their expectations though, so here I am: Out and proud! And it’s liberating! XD Also just in case you didn’t notice: I have two different signatures now. V.Ronan is for the boy days and Virginia for the girl ones. 😉

– I hosted my second giveaway and had a lot of fun compiling the parcels! 😀 And I reached the glorious number of 350 followers just a couple of weeks ago. I think at the beginning of 2020 I wanted to reach 250 so umm yeah that certainly exceeded all of my dreams and expectations! *lol* O_o Hello and welcome to everyone who clicked that follow button btw! ❤

– For some inexplicable reason I managed to make it into the Goodreads „Best Reviewers of All Time Global list“ and I’m still kind of stunned. O_o I never expected to ever land on this list and the fact I actually did is… astonishing? XD I’m still speechless and if you know me, you know that I’m NEVER speechless. *lol* I’m very grateful people voted me on that list and I’ll try my best to live up to their expectations. 😀 So thank you to everyone who reads and likes my reviews, it means the world to me! ❤ (I know I said that already but I really MEAN it! Without your support I would have never gotten that far!)

My bookish New Year’s resolutions for 2020 vs. what actually happened and what is hopefully going to happen in 2021:

– Don’t read more than 5 books at the same time! (Well, mostly I actually followed that rule. *lol* Not always, there were times I read 7 books at the same time, but in general this rarely happened so I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to continue in that vein in 2021. 😉 )

– Don’t add more than 290 books to my TBR pile. It are 295 at the moment. I failed! NUUU!! XD Joking aside I did well though. I remember years in which I had 310 books on my TBR so considering it all it’s not that bad. As always I still want to get the number down to at least 275 though. Let’s hope I’ll reach that goal in 2021. (I’ll just have to kick myself in my behind and do more „Hugs’n’Kisses“ posts again. ;-P)

– Read the books I already own!! (Now that’s finally something I accomplished and I can pat myself on my shoulder. *lol* I read a lot of e-books that were on my e-reader and I read even more that were in my shelves so there’s that!)

– Don’t borrow more than 15 books at the same time from my library! At the moment it are 16 and there were times it were only 13 so I think I finally managed to follow through with this goal! XD Sure once or twice it were 21 but I didn’t use the max of 25 and that’s some big accomplishments for me! 😉 I think for 2021 I’ll go with those 15 again! Looks like it worked and we all know: Never change a running system! *lol*

– Stick to My Book List 2020 and finish My Book List 2019! Umm yeah… this wasn’t happening. At all! XD Like seriously, what did I even think? Haha! I kind of managed to almost finish my Book List 2019 (I’m so going to finish it in 2021) and didn’t even get close to finishing my 2020 list. >_< Still, I learned from my mistakes and put a lot of books I know I’ll read on my 2021 list so let’s see if this plan works out. *crosses fingers* (There are still 5 spots left, any recs from you?)

– I didn’t really continue with my „Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs blog meme but this was mostly due to me creating new blog memes and being way too much of a mood reader during 2020. I vow improvement. ;-P

– I might try to create an own book tag! (I actually did that! YAY! My The LGBTQ+ Rep Book Tag (Original!) was a lot of fun to do and I think I’ll continue to do it every year during pride month! XD I put so much effort into it, it needs to be used. *lol* Also I’ve a lot of ideas for new tags and I hope I’ll be able to create some of them in 2021.)

– Get 250 followers on my blog! With a current number of 375 I think we can all agree that I reached that goal? XD I have no idea how but, I did it and I’m certainly not going to complain! *lol* Quite the contrary! Thank you for joining me on this fun ride! 😉 I think in 2021 I want to make it to 400. For me that’s such a milestone, Quite honestly I’ll probably faint if I actually reach that goal. ❤

– Reorganize my physical bookshelves. I did that! YESH! Also I’ve a nice LGBTQ+ section now and it is such a pleasure to look at it! ❤ I might have to reorganize my book shelf soon though. I just got too many books. 😉

– Start an Instagram? Make a short video? Instagram didn’t let me create an account (why not, Instagram??!) and I still didn’t make a video. I have no idea if I’ll ever do it. Depends if you guys actually want me to do one or not, I guess. XD

– Relocate some of my longer reviews from goodreads to my blog. I definitely did that! 😀 I managed to get a lot of my older reviews on my blog so I’m really happy this worked out! Especially with the GR wordlimit getting less and less each year. I have to save them before they are gone!! AHHH! *lol* I’ll try to continue to save some in 2021 as well. 🙂

– Go through with my „German speaking Authors Year“ Hahahahaha! I failed spectacularly at that one! >_< But in my defence: 2020 so didn’t turn out the way I thought it would and mood reading was the only thing that kept me reading so I can’t feel bad about not going through with it. With the sitation as it is right now and our third lockdown in place I won’t go for a special year theme in 2021 though. I wouldn’t be able to follow through with it so I better wait for 2022. Maybe the world will be back to normal by then. XD There’s always hope.

Rankenzeile

If you read all this you get a medal from me! ;-P I know this was long but it kind of reflects 2020. It felt like a long year but at the same time it also felt short. XD How was your 2020? Did you follow your TBR or did you become a mood reader too? Which goals did you set yourself and were you able to accomplish them? What got you through this pandemic year? (Not gonna lie. For me it was mostly watching cute Netflix movies or series, listening to and watching BTS dance, and lots of Netflix & Chill ice cream when I had an especially bad day *lol* and of course reading.) How did you cope with 2020?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

SASSY Saturday

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the ninth round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

All you have to do is to follow those three golden rules:

1. Credit the creator of this tag (The Sassy Library Fox) and link back. (so I can see all your amazing answers!)
2. Answer the 5 questions below!
3. AND enjoy doing the blog meme! 😛

„SASSY Saturday“ is planned to be a monthly meme but if you want to do it more often feel free to go for it! This meme was created to get to know other bloggers, their new obsessions and to reflect on your own last month! Above all it was created to have fun though! 😉 If you want you can also use the banner I created! This said let’s head to the good part:

S – Series you loved this month

The Umbrella Academy! I finally started with season two on Netflix and even though I only watched the first 4 episodes I can say that I already love to be back with the team. *lol* I just adore the characters and how different they are and the occasional film noir vibe paired with the humour is just great! ❤ And of course I still love Klaus, Five and Diego! They seem to cause the most trouble which is probably the reason why I love them so much. XD

A – Author you discovered

54386750

Kim Fielding. I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of „Teddy Spenser Isn’t Looking for Love“ and it was a really sweet romance. 🙂 I’ll definitely watch out for her other books now and I really wish this would have been longer!

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

BTS – Dynamite

I love this song so much! I could listen to it all day and I could watch the video of it even longer! I love my 7 boys and ADKFAKSDFALKSDFK! They are all so amazing! ❤ Their music and their positive attitude basically got me through 2020. So thank you BTS! You might not be able to perform in front of your fans now but we love and miss you at least as much as you love and miss us!!! Also I didn’t just spend an hour watching a youtube tutorial how to dance this… Nope. Totally didn’t, but if I did I would dance to it now. *lol* (I hate that my injured knee can’t keep up with some of the dance moves… T_T)

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

Some of the Christmas presents I got! They were really creative and my family and friends put a lot of effort and thought into them. 🙂 It was so nice to see how much they cared, especially this year so I’m very grateful for all the amazing things I got and I was definitely surprised by almost all of them. XD (I didn’t get any books though, but I got gift coupons to buy them myself which is probably better anyway because my family lost track of all the books I already read. A long time ago, I might add. ;-P)

Y – Your fave blog post of another blogger

2020 Releases I Haven’t Read (but still want to) by Elli @ AceReader

I’ve been following Elli’s blog for a while and I love it! ❤ The content is amazing and I just enjoy to spend time on Elli’s blog! XD This post was once again a great one because there are so many amazing books I want to get to too. *lol* So thank you Elli for writing them all down. It’s great that we have a similar taste in books. 😉

Rankenzeile

What do you think about „SASSY Saturday“? Would you like to join the fun? Did you discover a new author and which songs had you dancing through your home? Are you a BTS fan too and were you happy with your Christmas presents?

Merry Christmas! & My Answers to YOUR Questions (350 followers celebration)

Hey there, my lovelies! 🙂

I want to use this blog post to wish you all a Merry Christmas! ❤ I know 2020 has been a tough and crazy year and Christmas is definitely going to be way different than all the Christmases we had before! I still want to wish you a lovely time though! We might not be able to celebrate with all our family members but they are in our hearts and with us, no matter if we have to celebrate without them. For us it’s the first year in forever that we can’t visit my in-laws (they live in Germany and the borders are closed) so we’ll at least try to spend some time via Skype or WhatsApp. It’s not the same as being with them, but at least my kid will be able to see her grandparents. 🙂

This said: However you spend your Christmas Holidays and no matter in which kind of form you’ll be able to see your loved ones: I still wish you all a Merry Christmas! XD May you all be healthy and happy on this special day! ❤

And because I promised it a long time ago and didn’t get to it earlier: Here are my answers to your questions when I hit the 350 followers mark! I hope you enjoy them! 😉

1.) What’s your favorite color? 😉 from Caitlyn

It used to be violet when I was a kid but now it’s green! 😉 Especially emerald green. (must be the hidden Slytherin in me. *lol*)

2.) Bookstore or Library? Where would you rather spend your time if you had to choose? from Latanya

That’s an interesting question! I like bookstores but if I have to choose I’ll always go for the library. All those bookshelves filled with treasures and cozy corners you can hide in to skim through or read books. I just love the atmosphere. XD For me every library is some sort of sanctuary and I could get lost for hours.

3.) Go on then tell me the best Christmas cookie recipe so I can drool! from Fran

Haha! You can not only drool you can also try baking them! 😜
Vanillekipferl recipe: (they are something typical Austrian)
250g flour
210g butter
100g grated almonds
70g powdered sugar

Now you take all the ingredients and knead them into a dough. (Tough on the hands and takes some time) The dough needs to rest about 30 minutes in the fridge before you take it out. Well and then you form little croissants out of it. (The best way is to take little dough portions and to roll them between your palms until you have some sort of little dough string you can form into a croissant. 😉) And once you’re done with all of them you put them into the oven (180°C) for about 10 minutes. Make sure to bestrew them with a mixture of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar as long as they are still hot. They taste best when they had a few days in a cookie jar because with time they get soft and melt on your tongue. XD

And because I promised Fran a picture, here it is! 😊

20201205_182252

4.) Where is your favorite place to read and with what beverage? from Phillip

Since I don’t have all too much space it’s my sofa! *lol* As for the beverage: Always coffee! There’s nothing better than to sit on my comfy sofa, wrapped into a blanket while reading a book and drinking coffee. (Some days when I read at night I might exchange that coffee for a good whiskey though. 😜)

5.) What’s your favorite movie? from BG

Oh that’s a tough one. Just one? *lol*
It’s always a close tie between „Moulin Rouge“ or „Love, Actually“. I must have watched them both about a thousand times, guess that’s the hopeless romantic in me. Still, the beginning of Moulin Rouge is so strange. XD

6.) Since you brought food up, what’s your LEAST favourite foods? Gurl gotta know what no to feed you on a dinner party 😉 from Maja

Haha! Love the thought behind your question! XD
And to my mum’s chagrin it’s „Erdäpfelgulasch“ (potato goulash). My whole family loves it but I don’t, probably because they didn’t eat it as often as me. There’s a story behind it and I promised to write it in this blog post so here I go:

When I was 13 years old my mum went back to work (I know! Best mum ever for staying with her kids for so long) and of course she didn’t have all too much time to cook for us. So being the sweet and caring mum that she is, she still wanted to cook me something for lunch. My dad ate at work, my sister at school and I was the only one who still ate at home. So she went for something easy that could be heated up in no time: Erdäpfelgulasch and basically every other sort of goulash you can think of. She just made the potato goulash more often than the others. *lol* So yeah, I ate a lot of goulash that first year of her being back at work and I kind of overate on it. I can’t even smell it anymore. >_<  So yep, that’s my least favourite food because I ate it too often. XD I know that’s a luxury problem but it is how it is.

7.) What are some of your favorite songs? from David

Ohh that’s a dangerous question. As a musician I live and breathe music so I have many favourite songs. I’ll go with a few of my faves, okay!? *lol* 😜
Rainmaker – Iron Maiden
Hallelujah – Damien Rice
Nothing Else Matters – Metallica
Unconditionally – Katy Perry
My Heroine- Silverstein
Sky Full of Song – Florence + the Machine
White Doves – Cider Sky
Million Reasons – Lady Gaga
Bad Liar – Imagine Dragons
Hurt – Johnny Cash
BTS – Dynamite
The Rules For Lovers – Richard Walters

And about a gazillion more, but it’s already a long ist so I’ll leave it at that. 😅😂

8.) Favorite animals? from Sabrina

3 of my faves are definitely foxes, owls and axolotls. ❤

Rankenzeile

Thank you so much for all those amazing questions! It was a lot of fun to answer them and I’m so glad you guys seem to enjoy my blog! 😀 I’ll try my best to keep it interesting! And I’ll think about something nice when I hit 400 followers. *lol* (Whenever I get there. xD)

This said: I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! ❤ Enjoy it with your family and loved ones and please try to stay healthy and safe! =)

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the eight round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

This meme was created to get to know other bloggers, their new obsessions and to reflect on your own last month! Above all it was created to have fun though! 😉 If you want you can also use the banner I created! This said let’s head to the good part:

S – Series you loved this month

„Dash & Lily“! I’m so glad Netflix is still going strong because during this second lockdown I definitely need some series and movie distractions. *lol* This said „Dash & Lily“ was great! I loved that they got to know each other through a book and the back and forth between them was fun! XD I didn’t know this was based on a book but once I figured it out I did my research and found out that Rachel Cohn and David Levithan wrote this together. Considering the cuteness I’m not surprised. ;P I think I might give it a try when I’m in the mood for Christmas cheer. For now I can really recommend the series! It’s very sweet and gives you all those happy giddy feelings. =)

A – Author you discovered

39679076

Erin A. Craig! I’m currently reading „House of Salt and Sorrows“ and I think I’m on my way of becoming a huge Craig fan. The dark and gloomy atmosphere of this book is just amazing and I love the world building so far! I can’t believe this is actually her first book because damn this is great!! So yes, Erin A. Craig is THE new author I discovered last month! 😉

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Billie Eilish – when the party’s over

I know a lot of people say this and I’ll say it too: I love Billie Eilish and her songs! They are all so meaningful and her voice! Boy, this girl has such an amazing voice! ❤ „when the party’s over“ is a really beautiful song and you can’t help but hurt with her. I think we all made experiences like that and Billie manages to convey them in such a careful and gentle manner. I can really recommend to watch the video Billie Eilish carpool karaoke with James Corden! It’s amazing and captures Billie, her life, her songs and how she recorded them (in her own room btw!!!) so well!

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

November was a very sad and tough month for Austria. We didn’t just go into another lockdown but we also grieved. On November 2nd terrorists attacked people in the first district of Vienna and our whole country was upset, angry, confused and twitchy. Still, no matter how hard the blow, despite all the restrictions and keeping our distance in times of Covid, we still managed to give each other strength and the solidarity of the people in my country was overwhemling. ❤ I’ve never been so proud to be Austrian and I loved that everyone was taking care of each other. So yes, the strong solidarity surprised me but it also gave me hope for the future and made me very proud. 😀

Y – Your fave blog post of another blogger

The BTS ‚BE‘ Book Tag + song commentary by Sabrina @ Notes From A Paper Plane Nomad

I love it when people create original tags and Sabrina’s original tags are some of the best! ❤ I recently did her „The School for Good and Evil“ book tag (which was a lot of fun) and this month she went for an original BTS ‚BE‘ Book Tag! Since I outed myself as a BTS fan by liking her TTT about them she tagged me for this one too and of course I’ll go for it! (I just don’t know when… sometimes it takes ages for me to get to certain tags because as you all know I’m a snail. *lol*) Anyway! I’ll definitely do this one and I hope you’ll give it a try too! Sabrina deserves all the love so if you’re a BTS fan too: What are you even waiting for?!! 😛

6 Years of Book Blogging: A look Back and Forward by Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books

This is a blog post in which Marie told us about her blogging journey and if you’re a fellow book bloggger you should definitely read it! 😀 Marie’s been blogging for six years and that’s no small feat! I’m very glad she’s still around to tell us the tale and I hope she’ll be around for the next 30 years! 😉

350 Followers Celebration Post – I’m in awe!!! <3

Hey there, my lovelies!

At the end of last year I had the goal to reach 250 followers by the end of 2020 and I can’t believe there are 350 of you out there already. It’s awesome, amazing, crazy and yes, even a little bit intimidating. XD I never thought my blog would get that big (yes, 350 followers is A LOT!) and when I started to write on here I had no idea how much fun it would be. I’m constantly in awe that people actually seem to enjoy what I write and I’m very aware that to follow a blog is a big commitment.

So thank you all so much for staying around and for keeping this blog (my little baby) alive! I’m very thankful for all your comments, tags, discussions, feedback, etc. 2020 has been a tough year but with all you lovely bloggers it’s been half as bad as it could have been! So thanks for that and all your support! I can’t even put it into words but it really means the world to me! ❤

This said I want to celebrate this huge step and since I already did a drawing (250 followers) and a Give-Away (300 followers) this year I decided I’d go for another round of „Questions & Answers“. There are 150 more of you since the last time I did this (Hey there!!! =D ) and I’m pretty sure you might have interesting questions for me as well! So hit me with your questions and I’ll try my best to answer them thruthfully. (Or as thruthfully as a faerie is able to. We’re cunning and eloquent creatures after all. ;-P )

I’ll collect them all and will go for another blog post to answer them soon! As always you can ask me whatever you want. Favourite colour, books, ice cream, drink, how I drink my coffee, Christmas cookie recipe etc. *lol* It’s up to you! Just fire away! 😉 I mean how often do you get a chance to ask really specific questions? XD (Why aren’t more bloggers doing things like that? I’d have so many questions for them. Haha!) Anyway! I hope you have fun thinking up questions and I’m already looking forward to answer them!

And as always: Take care and stay healthy!

SASSY Saturday

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the seventh round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

„Locke & Key“! Okay, I only just started with this series but boy did it have a great start. I’m so intrigued by the house and all those different keys. I’ve to admit that it’s kind of tough to watch this series if you’re a scaredy fox like me though. *lol* The first three episodes were creepy af and since I can only watch this series when my kid is in bed I watch it at night which quite honestly doesn’t help – AT ALL! *shudders* Problem is, now that I’m hooked there’s no turning back, I need to know what happens next. XD

A – Author you discovered

Alice Oseman! I know, I know, technically I already knew her, but I never read an actual book she wrote. I’ve been following her comic „Heartstopper“ for years but I never picked up one of her novels. Which I corrected this month. XD „Radio Silence“ was amazing and I was very intrigued by the two MCs. Frances and Aled are two really unique characters and I got addicted to this more than just fast. 🙂

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Make Out Monday – Don’t Fall Asleep

Funnily enough I found this band through „Julie and the Phantoms“ and I’m kind of obsessed with this song now! It’s the band of Jeremy Shada who plays Reggie in the series. This song ist just great and it sort of speaks to me! ❤ Also can we acknowledge that every actor in „Julie and the Phantoms“ has some sort of musical background?! You can see it when they play in the series. They are true musicians through and through. (Which you realize when you’re a dedicated musician too. *lol*) My favourite part of the lyrics: „But I want you to see tomorrow, cause it’s more beautiful than you can see today. And I want you to feel no sorrow. Maybe we can learn to dream while we’re awake. Don’t fall asleep.“

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

Okay, that definitely was no pleasant surprise, but I was really surprised about how fast you can become shunned from society by just being related to someone who had to do a Covid-19 test. O_o I mean I only got a phone call from my mum who told me one of my relatives had to do a second Covid test because the rapid test kind of showed a slight sign that she might be infected. I didn’t see my relative for a week before I got that call, yet people immediately put on their masks, opened the window and politely told me I should go home. Which was kinda… WOW?! I mean, seriously? The second official test was negative btw! So that strong reaction was really sort of strange and completely blown out of proportion. I mean I get it, I don’t want to get Covid too, but can we stop treating people like they are patient zero and will get rabid any second?! I really hate what the virus does to us as a society. So much mistrust and fear…. >_<

10 Books I want More People to Read and Appreciate by May @ Forever and Everly

I really love May’s blog posts and this one was no exception! I discovered so many new authors I haven’t read yet and I think I want to give them all a try. It’s always good to hear about underrated books and I’m the first one to pick them up as long as they are good. Thankfully May’s taste is as impeccable as Warner’s appearance so *lol*! I trust her taste in books more than I trust my own and that says quite something. ;-P

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the sixth round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

Daredevil

Can we just acknowledge how awesome the third season of Daredevil was? I loved and hated it at the same time. Fisk drove me mental with his mind games but boy did I love them!! *lol* Plus there were new characters that really mixed up things! (And this is an understatement) Matt had to go through a lot and there were quite some moments I was like: „OMG NO!!!“ The fighting scenes: Epic!!! Especially the one at the prison! I’m still in awe of that one! XD So yeah, I followed Matt Murdock’s trail of blood through the entire season. And I regret nothing. ;-P

Julie and the Panthoms

And here’s another series I got addicted to quickly. Julie and the Phantoms is such a great series! It made me laugh, it made me cry, it caused me to pull for Julie and her ghost band and there was so much heart in this series that I melted. XD The songs are all amazing and have a deep meaning and the joy Julie and her band feel when they are on stage? It’s palpable! They have fun and you can see it! Reminds me of my own band days! ❤ Plus for once I actually don’t have a favourite character because damn they are all great in their own way! 😀

A – Author you discovered

Alice Oseman! I know, I know, technically I already knew her, but I never read an actual book she wrote. I’ve been following her comic „Heartstopper“ for years but I never picked up one of her novels. Which I corrected this month. XD I just started to read „Radio Silence“ and I’m already intrigued by the two MCs. Frances and Aled are really two unique characters and I’m pretty sure I’ll get addicted to this pretty fast. 🙂

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Julie and the Phantoms – Wake Up

This was the first song they introduced in the series and I loved it immediately. Julie has such a great voice and the message of the song! Just beautiful! I think I might get the entire soundtrack because damn, the music is amazing! 🙂

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

I’m not gonna lie: 2020 was/and still is one of the worst years I ever had. I mean seriously: 2020 is so hard I could become a sculptor and sell my troubles as art. Aside from Covid-19 there happened so many bad things and some days I just want to stay in my bed and hide under my blanket. It was one of those days – I was at work and felt especially miserable – when one of my new colleagues brought me coffee. It was a small gesture but it was such a nice one and she even knew how I drink my coffee. I almost cried right there and then. Sometimes a little kindness goes a long way. ❤

Reading Romance While Demisexual @ The Quiet Pond

This was a really great blog post and I enjoyed reading through it! I loved that CW explained how it feels for her to be demi and how insta-love is something she can’t really relate to. And it kind of made me question myself because believe it or not every relationship I ever had started out as a friendship first and then (sometimes over years) developed into something more. I just need to build trust before I can be with someone. Don’t ask me if I’m demi or not, because I seriously don’t know. *lol* All I know is that CW’s post was some sort of thought-provoking impulse. Maybe it will provoke your thoughts too?! XD

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the fifth round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

1. Credit the creator of this tag (The Sassy Library Fox) and link back. (so I can see all your amazing answers!)

S – Series you loved this month

Yuri on Ice!

anime, gif, and love Bild

There will never be a universe in which I won’t love this series to the moon and back! ❤ And I’m so glad I finally have it on DVD and Blu-Ray! I swear Yuri’s and Victor’s relationship is EVERYTHING!!! I mean, how could you possibly not love them and this show?! There’s competition, there’s figure skating, there are amazing friendships, there’s love and trust and hope and fear and ARGH!!! It’s just amazing! If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favour and take a closer look! Yuri and Victor are the best! 😉

A – Author you discovered

This month it would be Nora Sakavic! I wanted to read her „All for the Game“ series for ages and finally managed to get to it. I mean, it only took me three years to pick it up, but we all know I’m a snail! *lol* Still, no matter how late I jumped the hype train: THIS STUFF IS GOOD!!! I didn’t expect to get addicted to it so fast but three things are for certain: 1.) Neil Josten is a precious cinnamon roll and needs to be protected at all costs!!!! 2.) Andrew Minyard is a dangerous and volatile minx and I adore him!! 3.) I’m so going to read those two sequels. XD

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Greg Laswell – Dodged A Bullet

There’s something about this song! I just can’t seem to get enough of it. Maybe it’s the melody or the lyrics, but it speaks to me somehow. Don’t ask me, I can’t describe it! All I know is that this soft guitar version is amazing. 🙂

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

My bestie and I recently went to a new Japanese restaurant that has an „all you can eat“ buffet! So we decided to try it out because as you all know by now we’re suckers for Japanese food. *lol* Anyway, we ordered our drinks and barely sat there a few minutes when all of a sudden a robot rolled towards us and offered us our drinks. XD As it seems it’s name is Yuki and it hands out the bevarages at the restaurant. This was really funny and I’m sure we’ll go there again. Guess we got a glimpse at the future. 😉

SHINING A LIGHT ON BOOK BLOGGERS’ WORK: WHAT DO WE REALLY DO?

I absolutely loved Marie’s blog post!!! There were so many things she mentioned and I agreed with a lot of them! I think this was a really nice way to appreciate book bloggers and to point out that to be an influencer doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve to be a book tuber. We’re fond of the written word and there are plenty of people that still read it! XD So keep on writing guys and check out Marie’s amazing post! 😉

Winners of my Give-Away! =)))

Hey there, my lovelies!

As you all might know I recently celebrated 300 followers on my blog and decided to do a give-away! This time around there were two books you could choose from and because 300 is such a nice number I decided that I’d give away both of them.

Also I announced the give-away on my goodreads as well, because you know, the more the merrier and all that jazz! *lol* Plus I’ve an extraordinarily huge number of followers on goodreads too (OH MY, excuse me while I freak out and faint a little – I think I never truly realized it are so many. O_O Jeez!!! *fans herself and tries not to hyperventilate* I’m not losing my shit here, nope, nopedy nope. AHHHH!) and it’s only fair they are included in the fun. ;-P

So, yes you read right! We have two winners and I’ll do my best to make this a nice parcel for them! XD Anyway, I’m sure by now you’re all curious about who won the books so without further ado I’ll announce the winners!

*drum roll*

Turtles All the Way Down: Moony @ Moony MeowPoff

Children of Blood and Bone: Lia @ Chain of Novels

I hope you’ll enjoy those two books as much as I did and I’ll cross my fingers that they’ll arrive whole and nice at your place! ❤

I’ll hit you both with a message soon! 😉

And to everyone else who participated and unfortunately didn’t win: Thank you guys so much for joining the fun! Maybe next time you’ll win one of the books!? 😀 I’m sure there will be a lot of chances to win another give-away in the future! (I just love to do them! *lol*)

300 Followers Celebration – The next milestone and a Give-Away!!! :D

Hey there, my lovelies! 😀

I know I said that already when I hit 250 followers but I think I’ll have to say it again: OMG!!! How did that even happen?! *lol* I remember having the respectable goal of getting 250 followers until the end of the year (I wrote this in January 2020) and now I’m at 309 (if you count my e-mail followers too)! O_o You guys have no idea how much this means to me and how happy I am that so many of you decided to follow my „sassy antics“. 😛

I’m kind of in awe that you actually seem to like what I write and I’ll never get tired of thanking you for reading my weird blog posts, super long reviews and sometimes even my really depressing poerty! *lol* (You might get tired of me saying „Thank you!“ though so I’ll try not to go overboard: Still, thank you! ;-P ) It’s kinda funny that last year about exactly that time I actually hosted my first giveaway when I reached 150 followers. Ahh how time flies by!

Anyway!! Let’s stop my musings and get right to the good part of this blog post! THE GIVEAWAY!!! I’ve wanted to do one of those for ages but when I hit 250 followers COVID-19 got in my way and now the world is still far from normal but at least I can go to my post office again. (Well, for now it’s still open. 😉 ) So since I’m one of those „Carpe diem!“, „seize the moment“ and „No risk, no fun!“ kind of people I decided to well, … just go for it! *lol*

So here’s how we’ll do this: Just like the last time I’ll let you throw your hat into the ring. I know we all have different tastes, so I once again resolved that there’ll be two different kinds of books you can choose from:

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

35504431. sy475

And

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

34728667

All you have to do is to write a comment and to let me know which one of those two books you’d like to win. (Well, if you’re no direct wordpress member a contact mail would probably be nice too. After all I’ll need to know your address when I send the book to you. XD)

As always I’ll place all your names in a bowl and then I’ll let fate decide. 😉

I guess I’ll wait about 1 – 2 weeks before I draw the names so you have plenty of time to take part in my giveaway! 😉 I really hope many of you will participate and I wish you all the luck!

Giveaways are always so exciting and I love to arrange the package! I had so much fun doing it the last time and it almost kind of ended up being some sort of bookish subscription box. Haha!

This said: Thank you so much for following my blog!! ❤ I hope you’re all still healthy and safe! Take care!!!
