Top Ten Tuesday:  Books On My Fall 2022 To-Read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books On My Fall 2022 To-Read List (Now this is going to be fun again! XD)

1.) „Empire of the Vampire“ by Jay Kristoff

43728380. sy475

I wanted to read this book for ages and I guess fall is the perfect time to pick up a huge vampire book! I can’t wait to see Jay’s take on vampires and I’m sure I’ll love it! With about 700+ pages this book is pretty thick though and that actually kept me from diving into it. I’m ready for it now, though! So bring it on Jay Kristoff! ;-P

2.) „Verity“ by Colleen Hoover

60217269. sy475

And here’s another one of those books I wanted to read for a long time but never dared to pick up. *lol* This time around the fact that everyone, literally everyone, is constantly warning about the trigger warnings made me very scared to read this. But I guess it’s September and soon it will be spooky month aka Halloween so this sounds about the right time to read a book like this. I hope I’ll get out of this unscathed. *nervous laugh*

3.) „Call Down the Hawk“ by Maggie Stiefvater

44074162. sy475

I started this book ages ago but never really picked it up because there was always a library book that needed to be read first. Guess that’s the problem with the books you own, you rather read all the others first. XD I’ll rectify that injustice to this, no doubt, amazing book this fall though and my Yoongi and I will finally read this together! ❤

4.) „Wolfsong“ by T.J. Klune

29233804. sy475

I finally discovered T.J. Klune’s books this summer through my #Klunealong and I’m so going to pick up this one because everyone says it’s amazing. So far I loved all of his books and I’m sure I’ll adore this one too! I can’t wait to read about LGBTQIA+ werewolves and I’m so ready to be blown away by Klune’s writing again! This sounds like the perfect Halloween read for me!

5.) „All Systems Red“ by Martha Wells

32758901. sy475

I’m so intrigued by the premise of this book, you have no idea! XD A murderbot sounds really interesting and so many people said that this is funny so I’m totally here for it! I mean alone the fact that this AI calls itself „murderbot“ in it’s head and doesn’t like humans is already very promising. *lol* I’m ready to find out more. 😉

6.) „The Silvered Serpents“ by Roshani Chokshi

52796733. sy475

I really should FINISH. THIS. BOOK! *lol* Seriously I began to read it in April and it’s about time I take it off my „currently reading“! I guess you can tell that I was in a reading slump for a while because the mere fact I didn’t devour this says it all! I mean I love those characters and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on an ARC of this baby – which I never did btw – yet I still haven’t finished it. And that’s wrong! I’m going to love this book the way it deserves now and I’m determined to get it off my list in a month! XD

7.) „The Electric Heir“ by Victoria Lee

45439783

I loved the first book „The Fever King“ when I read it this year and I can’t wait to find out how this story continues. Dara and Noam own my heart and I really, really just want the best for my precious boys! I’m kinda worried I’ll end up suffering in this book though so uff. I guess that’s why I procrastinated again. XD But I will read it this fall!! I know it!

8.) „The Queen of Air and Darkness“ by Cassandra Clare

13541056. sy475

I promised Catherine that I’d read this book by the end of the year and I have every intention to go through with this promise! It’s about time I pick up Cassandra Clare’s books again and even though I know it will hurt, I still want to read this one! No, actually I NEED to read this one because damn, I need to find out what is going to happen to all my precious Blackthorns! T_T And my super precious Kieran which I love with all my heart! ❤

9.) „The King’s Men“ by Nora Sakavic

23594461

This book is going to hurt so bad! I just know it, but I still want to know how it all ends. I made it through book 2 so how bad can it get? (He asked knowing full well that it would be excruciating! *lool*) No, seriously, I’m not ready to read book three of this series but oh well, I guess I’ll never be so it won’t help to procrastinate forever. I just need to be brave and pick it up. I can do it! XD

10.) „This Savage Song“ by Victoria Schwab

40642172. sy475

This book has been on my TBR for ages and I finally want to read it. I mean it’s one of the few Schwab books I haven’t read yet and it’s been on my „Book List 2021“ as well. At least I think I put it on there. So yep, it’s time to find out what this series is about. Schwab can do nothing wrong with me, I just adore her books. ❤

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books are on your fall TBR and do we have some in common? Do you have special books you want to read for Halloween and if yes, are they very creepy? As you all know I’m a scaredy fox and I’m always looking for nice horror books that aren’t too heavy. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Love That Were Written Over Ten Years Ago

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books I Love That Were Written Over Ten Years Ago (Now this is going to be interesting because I have no idea which books are older than 10 years. *lol* Let’s see if I can find some. XD)

1.) „Legend“ by Marie Lu

9275658

So I only started to read this series about two years ago but it’s definitely among my fave series ever and I really love Day and June!! I guess since the first book „Legend“ was released in 2011 it actually counts as a book older than 10 years. *lol* Honestly, though! I can’t believe this was written 11 years ago! How is this gem 11 years old already? I still need to read „Rebel“ (book number 4) but I’m sure I’ll love it as well.

2.) „Shatter Me“ by Tahereh Mafi

13455782

Ahhh if you know me, you also know that I love the „Shatter Me“ series!! (Only the original trilogy though because book 6 doesn’t exist! At least not according to me! ;-P) I gobbled the first trilogy up like nobody’s business and Aaron Warner is number one of my book bfs! I mean yeah, he has to share first place with Will Herondale but still! This series is great and the first book came out in 2011 so it counts!

3.) „Wicked Lovely“ by Melissa Marr

305234

Okay, so the first book „Wicked Lovely“ got released in 2007 so it’s way older than 10 years but I still love this series so much! I dunno what it is about this series but ahh I adore so many of the characters and I just love the way the faerie courts are represented. It’s one of the best faerie series ever and I adore it. Period! Irial, Niall and Seth have my heart and soul! ❤

4.) „The Fellowship of the Ring“ by J.R.R. Tolkien

828401

I admit it, „The Fellowship of the Ring“ is way older than 10 years, because it was first published in July 1954. But I think we can all agree that LotR is one of the best fantasy series ever! It’s a classic and everyone and their grandma knows this trilogy, right?! I mean if you haven’t read all three (super thick books) you at least have watched the movies or heard about the movies so yep, LotR! =)

5.) „The Name of the Wind“ by Patrick Rothfuss

186074

Just to get it out there into the world: This book is amazing and a masterpiece and I love it so damn much you have no idea! It was released in 2007 and I think I only read it way later on but it really sneaked its way into my heart. Still if I’m talking about Pat Rothfuss I also have to say that I’m still waiting for book 3 of this trilogy! (Which probably will never come out and this totally sucks.) So if you want to read „The Name of the Wind“ you’ve to be aware that you’ll probalby never get to read the ending of this series. Just saying. *lol*

6.) „Divergent“ by Veronica Roth

13335037. sy475

I can’t believe „Divergent“ was released in 2011. I really loved this first book so much! It was great, it was amazing, it was something different and I really loved to dive into this world. Unfortunately book 2 and 3 didn’t really do it for me and I came out of this series only loving the first book. It’s a shame but it is what it is. >_<

7.) „Clockwork Angel“ by Cassandra Clare

7171637. sy475

This series is among my favourite series of all times as well! I mean „Clockwork Angel“ was released in 2010 but I’ve reread „The Infernal Devices“ about a gazillion of times ever since and it’s just… I adore all those lovely characters and Will Herondale! Ahhh Will! AKDFAKSDFKASDJ! Also Jem and Tessa and damn! I have so much love for this series and its characters I can’t put it into words. ❤

8.) „The Passage“ by Justin Cronin

7169581. sy475

I can’t believe I read „The Passage“ in 2011 absolutely loved it and then never continued to read the rest of the series. *lol* What is wrong with me? I suppose one of the reasons is that it took a very long time for me to get book two and three and once I had all of them I knew I’d have to rearead book one to get back into the swing and it’s just so… huge. Haha! 766 pages. Uff. I will reread it one day though and then I’ll finally continue with the rest of the series. =)

9.) „The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo“ by Stieg Larsson

2429135

Now this is a series I read a couple of years ago and I think I even read it when it was hyped so I definitely must have read the first book in 2008. This book was brutal, unapologetic, bloody and so unlike anything I ever read before and I kinda enjoyed the hell out of it? *lol* I think it spoke to my dark side back then and I never regretted picking it up. You should definitely check the trigger warnings for this one before you go into it though.

10.) „The Hunger Games“ by Suzanne Collins

2767052

Funnily enough „The Hunger Games“ must have been released around the same time as „The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo“ so in 2008. I really liked all of the books and they were so well written. =) Suzanne Collins broke my heart multiple times throughout this series and I still think that Peeta is one of the most precious souls. The ending… well it’s been years and I still dunno how I feel about it. It was realistic but also so bittersweet and kinda sad. >_<

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books were written over 10 years ago but you still love them? Do we have some in common? Did you have troubles to think of books that fit the prompt or was I the only one. (The most recent ones were the first to pop into my mind. *lol*) Did you count series into it as well?

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To (Submitted by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse)

I know I’m one week late with this T10T topic but last week my hubby tested positive and had to go into quarantine so our life was a little bit chaotic and totally upside down. XD To be confined at home during easter sucked. Yep… And with this said, let’s finally do this!

1.) Brandon Sanderson

21462006

I still haven’t read my first Brandon Sanderson book. I mean technically I started with „The Final Empire“ but I’m only about 10% in and can’t really say a lot about it yet. So yeah, for me Brandon Sanderson is still an author I haven’t read, but want to. 😉 (and am reading now?! *lol*)

2.) T.J. Klune

45047384. sy475

I swear, I so need to start reading TJ Klune’s books because everyone and their grandma is raving about them and they must be really good if so many people like them. I want to know if the hype is real and I’ll definitely read my first Klune book this year. Maybe it will even be „The House in the Cerulean Sea“. I’ve been dying to read that one for ages. XD

3.) Morgan Rhodes

12954620

This book and the entire series has been on my TBR AND on my book shelves for ages and I really need to get to it. I heard so many great things about this series and I also heard that you either love it or hate it. Since it was highly recommended to me by two people that know my taste in books because our reading tastes are similar I’m pretty sure I’ll love this. =)

4.) Lev Grossman

6101718

Another series that has been on my shelves for a very long time. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll like it or not, but I guess it’s about time to find out. The tv series was very intriguing so I’m hoping that the books will be good too. I guess the only way to find out if the author is for me or not is by reading the books, right?

5.) Anthony Doerr

18143977

I’m so going to read this book soon! Anthony Doerr has been on my radar for ages and „All The Light We Cannot See“ is definitely going to be the first book I’ll read that was written by him. By now I even placed it on my April TBR so I’ll hopefully get to it soon.

6.) Becky Chambers

25201920. sy475

Honestly, this series has been all over my Goodreads feed and so many people seem to read it. I’m very intrigued by the premise of the book and I’m also very curious about the author’s writing style. This seems to be a well-beloved series as well so I can’t wait to dive into it.

7.) Steven Salvatore

59541874. sy475

I think this book only got out in March and the author is a very new author. Their other book is „Can’t Take That Away“ and it was their debut which I also want to read and which is still on my TBR. *lol* So yeah, I haven’t read any of their books but I really want to get to them because they all sound so good! XD

8.) Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

This is another case of „I haven’t read any of the author’s books so far but I’m currently 10% into „Spinning Silver“. *lol* I think Naomi Novik is also one of those authors everyone knows and has read at least one book of. Well, not me! 10% baby! Haha! Anyway! I’ll finish this book sooner or later and then I can finally say I have read one of the author’s books. 😉

9.) Xiran Jay Zhao

57876191. sy475

So this author has been all over BookTube lately and everyone says you should read „Iron Widow“ because it’s so good. For a debut that’s actually quite something and I can’t wait to get a copy of this into my greedy hands. *lol* I’m looking forward to read about the strong female MC and apparently there’s even an LGBTQ+ element?! I’m ready!

10.) Emery Lee

59336008. sy475

This is legit one of my most anticipated reads for 2022, because what’s not to love?! An m/m enemies-to-lovers trope with lots of food?! Sign me up! I can’t wait to read this and if I liked it I might pick up the author’s other book as well. 😉 Wish me luck that this is going to be the foodie romance I craved for! XD

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which authors haven’t you read but really want to get to? Do we have some in common and if yes, which ones? Did you read any of the books on my list and did you enjoy them? Are there any well-beloved authors you still haven’t read and if yes why?! And are you a fan of debut books too?! (I love it, there’s nothing better than to discover a new amazing author!)

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2021

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2021 (And there were so many I had a tough time to decide for just 10. But oh well, those are the ten that made it into the finale! ;-P)

1.) Brigid Kemmerer – „A Curse So Dark And Lonely“

43204703. sy475

I read this at the beginning of 2021 and I really liked it?! I mean I was no big fan of Rhen, but I liked Harper and I absolutely adored Grey! This was a great retelling and definitely something different. For instance the beast wasn’t the beast right away and our heroine has cerebral palsy. Plus there was a really mean villain that made me so angry! My absolute favourite character was Grey though, so I hope to see more of him in book two! ;-P

2.) Emily Henry – „Beach Read“

43597287. sy475

I remember going into this and expecting a typical romance but in the end this turned out to be so much more than that. I really enjoyed how those two authors got to know each other and I absolutely loved that they got inspired by each other. =) Add a very complicated background story to both MCs and you have a great read!

3.) Lev. A.C Rosen- „Jack of Hearts (and other Parts)“

40402188. sy475

I think I’ll never get tired of speaking about „Jack of Hearts“! This book was great! I loved that Jack was openly gay and I absolutely adored his honest and direct approach when it came to his column. I think the world and especially the teens that live in it need more books like this one. Jack was unapologetic, blunt and always straightforward when he answered the anonymous questions that came his way. XD I swear Jack Rothman is amazing!

4.) Sophie Gonzales & Cale Dietrich – „If This Gets Out“

56347574. sy475

Okay, this was legit one of my favourite books of 2021! I mean this book had everything I love in my books. Band life, the found family trope, strong friendships, a secret and forbidden romance, an adorable m/m ship, lots of angst, self-discovery, a great fandom portrayal and even the dark side of fame. Like seriously, for me this was so perfect! ❤

5.) Kacen Callender – „Felix Ever After“

48849624. sy475

And here comes another one of my favourites of 2021: „Felix Ever After“! This book! I mean THIS book! XD It made me think so much about myself and how I see others, how they see me and how people perceive others and how people want to be seen. Plus, I loved that Felix still questioned his gender and sexuality. I think it’s great if you know exactly who you are and who you want to be, but at the same time it’s also good if you never stop questioning yourself. I swear, I could write an essay about this book and its message but I think I’ll leave it at that. *lol*

6.) Mason Deaver – „I Wish You All The Best“

41473872

Mason Deaver is definitely a new author I discovered last year. I really enjoyed their story and I’m glad there are more and more own voices books out there with non-binary authors that know exactly what they are talking about. =) This book was so soft and I really loved Nathan! Absolutely perfect boyfriend material right there. ;-P He was really one of the most supportive characters I ever saw!

7.) Sylvain Neuvel – „Sleeping Giants“

33950895. sy475

Now this book totally came as a surprise and when I picked it up I had no idea I’d enjoy it so much. Actually I was pretty sceptical at first, because when I read about the massive giant hand in the earth I was basically like: WTF?! *lol* If you allow yourself to jump into the story you won’t regret it though. I had a lof of fun reading this and I’m very curious where the second book will go.

8.) Philip Reeve – „Railhead“

31119095. sy475

And here comes another surprise! I mean I shouldn’t have been surprised that I enjoyed this so much because it’s one of my Yoongi’s favourite book series and if I trust anyone with my bookish taste, then it’s the Yoongi to my V. *lol* Still, the idea of sentient locomotives and worm holes that connect different worlds sounded super weird and kinda alien to me. Well, until I started to get into the story and began to love this world! XD Honestly, I can’t wait to pick up book two.

9.) Stephanie Garber – „Caraval“

27883214

This book had nothing in common with „The Night Circus“ and this was good the way it was, because I really enjoyed to read „Caraval“! I don’t understand all the reviews that compare it to „The Night Circus“ because quite honestly „Caraval“ isn’t even a circus but rather a show and some sort of interactive game and there is a huge difference between those two. At least if you ask me. XD This said I really liked to explore this world alongside Scarlet, but I’m sure book two with Tella is going to be even more interesting. ;-P

10.) Silvia Moreno-Garcia – „Mexican Gothic“

53152636. sy475

I so rarely read in the genre of horror but „Mexican Gothic“ was right up my alley! I loved this dark and twisted tale about an old family in an even older house that falls apart at the seams. Add lots of fog, a cemetery next to the house and heavy nightmares with strange happenings and you have the perfect recipe for a horror book. *lol* I’ll definitely pick up Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s next book too. 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which new authors did you discover last year and do we have some in common? Did you already read some of the new authors I discovered and if yes, can you recommend me some of their other books? (I’ll take all the recs I can get! XD) Was there a new author that failed to convince you to buy more of their books? *lol*

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Fall 2021 To-read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books on My Fall 2021 To-read List

1.) „Felix Ever After“ by Kacen Callender

48849624. sy475

I put „Felix Ever After“ on my September TBR and I intend to start it next week. I’ve been looking forward to read this for ages and I’m so glad my library had it in its shelves! It’s one of the few books I know about that actually have a transgender MC so I’m very excited to read Felix’s story. Also I’m absolutley in love with the cover! It’s so lively and realistically unapologetic!

2.) „Ninth House“ by Leigh Bardugo

52092876. sx318 sy475

To be honest I started this yesterday and I’m soo ready to read „Ninth House“! I’ve never read dark academia before and I heard that a lot of people would place this book in the genre. So far I’ve loved every book I read from Leigh so I’m pretty certain I’ll enjoy this one as well. It might be darker than the others but I’m definitely ready to explore this darker side of Leigh’s writing! 😉

3.) „Railhead“ by Philip Reeve

23532981

The Yoongi to my V spoke so much about this series that I couldn’t help but get curious about it. So when I recently discovered that my library actually has „Railhead“ I just couldn’t resist to borrow it. *lol* I’m sure Sabrina waited for me to read this ever since I spoke about it in my last library haul video on my BookTube channel! So yep, it’s autumn and I’m finally going to tackle this. XD

4.) „Rebel“ by Marie Lu

42121526

So I recently finished to read the Legend trilogy! And after THAT kind of ending I knew I couldn’t let it stand like that! I mean ARGHAADKLFASFJSAKDJS! Marie Lu always kills me with her endings and I just needed more after the finale of „Champion“. Thankfully I stumbled upon this in my library and I have every intention to read it and to hopefully get an ending I can live with. *lol*

5.) „The Gravity of Us“ by Phil Stamper

44281034

„The Gravity of Us“ has been on my radar for quite a while and the idea of a LGBTQ+ book that also tackles the topic of spacetravel is just too intriguing to let it go unnoticed! XD I already love the concept of this and I’m very curious how this is going to play out. Guess I’ll find out this autumn! *lol*

6.) „My Dark Vanessa“ by Kate Elizabeth Russell

55820574. sy475

Now here’s a book that doesn’t only have an intriguing topic but also a very serious one and I’m sure to read this will be tough. Still, I really want to know what’s all the fuss about. A lot of people said that it wasn’t their cup of tea and others said that „My Dark Vanessa“ was hard to read but that the way the story was told is brilliant. So yeah, the controversial opinions about it made me curious which caused this to land on my TBR. You know I can’t resist controversial books. *lol*

7.) „The Guest List“ by Lucy Foley

51933429

I really don’t know much about this book except of that it plays on an island and that it’s about a wedding. Oh yes, and that it is a mystery thriller. XD So I guess it’s fair to say that I know next to nothing about „The Guest List“. It was a goodreads choice winner of 2020 though and lots of people spoke about it back then. For me that’s enough reason to give it a try as a Halloween read! 😉

8.) „Mexican Gothic“ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

53152636. sy475

And here comes my second Halloween read for this year. This entire book gives me a haunted house and cursed family vibe and I don’t know if you already know this about me, but I LOVE vibes like that! *lol* I’m the first one to read a book about a house with millions of hidden doors and even more hidden secrets about its owners. XD So yep, this is going to be fun. Hopefully.

9.) „Heartstopper: Volume Three“ by Alice Oseman

43449920. sy475

After all the darkness (or gloom and doom if you want to call it like that *lol*) I need something light and nothing is better than Alice Oseman’s „Heartstopper“! My library recently got volume three and of course I had to borrow it. I’m really looking forward to be reunited with Nick and Charlie! Because those two boys are precious!!! ❤ (Plus: The entire cast of „Heartstopper“ is amazing!!)

10.) „Love, Creekwood“ by Becky Albertalli

53239539. sy475

I wanted to read this for what feels like a lifetime and this autumn I finally decided to go for it! I need more of Simon and Blue and I’m really curious what happened after the two former books in the Simonverse! I guess this will be some sort of epilogue that will hopefully give me all the fluffy feels and will make me very happy. No high expectations and no pressure. Really, Becky! *lol*

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Read In One Sitting

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books I Read In One Sitting (or would have if I had the time)

Ohhh, this is going to be fun! Also just 10 books and series? Oh gosh! This is going to be tough, I read so many books that would fall into this category. Okay, let’s see what will pop into my mind first. XD

1.) Lord of the Rings by. J.R.R. Tolkien

727798

I got the entire trilogy for Christmas when I was 13 years old and I read all three books in one week. *lol* I was basically glued to the pages and only stopped reading when I needed to eat something, had to go to the toilet or had to sleep. My family was laughing so much because they couldn’t understand my obsession. XD Looking at it in retrospective I think LotR was my epic fantasy awakening. *lol*

2.) Harry Potter by J.K Rowling

72193. sx318 sy475

Okay, I think everyone who was ever a Harry Potter fan read those books in one sitting, right? I mean whenever the next one came out my family and friends knew that they couldn’t disturb me for the next couple of hours. I just had to read them really fast and I gobbled them up like nobody’s business. Which constantly led to a book hangover, because I had to wait another year or two for the next book to come out! Fun times. *lol*

3.) A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

17927395. sy475

I still remember the spring in which I started to read this series and I never regretted it. ACOTAR was the first Sarah J. Maas book I ever read and it got me totally hooked. I loved everything about the first book then went through the masterpiece that is book two and finally reached the ending after finishing the last page of ACOWAR. What a journey! ❤

4.) The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic

17259690

„The Foxhole Court“ is one of the books that totally caught me by surprise. A lot of my favourite bloggers and reviewers talked about it but I still didn’t get the hype. Well, at least not until I picked it up and immediately got hooked! *lol* Like seriously!!! There’s something about this story that made it impossible to let go of this book. I was OBSESSED with Neil and Andrew and I still am!!! XD Truth be told, I just started to read the second book and I don’t think I’m ready for this kind of obsession but you know… I just NEED to know! ;-P

5.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

17347389

Rarely did a series touch me as much as „The Raven Cycle“! I lived and breathed this series and for a couple of months it was the only thing I could think of! Yes, I was THAT besotted with it. Still am if I’m honest. ;-P There’s just something about all the characters and the magic of this series that got me totally addicted. But honestly, I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. The Raven Boys will always be in my heart! ❤

6.) Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

22571663

I still remember the first time I read this series. Back then I was still in the closet and to read this felt like some sort of forbidden guilty pleasure. It was basically the first m/m book/series I ever read and probably not the best start for someone who’s still in the closet but I didn’t mind. Haha! I guess to read this series was sort of liberating and after the cuteness of book 2 and 3 I was totally excited about it. (Book one is a rough start but it only gets better with book 2!) I think in some way this series gave me the strength to come out and the next time I read it, I did it openly without hiding it anymore. =)

7.) The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

23395680. sy475

Ha! Everyone who ever read this series knows how addicting it is. *lol* Like you start with the first book and think: Oh the formatting is kinda weird, but okay?! And before you even know it you’re right smack in the middle of the plot and bite your fingernails because you just NEED to know how it continues!! Been there, done that, got the freaking t-shirt and I’ve been wearing it proudly ever since! Haha! ;-P

8.) Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

19547856

Ahhh Simon! This book was so full of cuteness that I just couldn’t put it down. I could relate to Simon so much and his conversations with Blue kept me glued to the pages. I remember wanting to read this slowly but before I even knew it I was halfway through the book and spammed the feeds of my goodreads friends with updates! *lol* My last update of this book was literally: „OMG! I can’t stop to read this book! I need to know!!!“ So I guess that says it all! XD

9.) The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

41865

„Twiligt“ is an „old“ series or well, relatively old if you consider the fact that the first book was published in 2005. So this is actually one of those series I read in one go! It was summer, my sister and her bf were on a holiday and I had their entire flat to myself. Needless to say that I locked myself up in their flat with food and other supplies and didn’t come out before I had finished the entire series. *lol*  I was 20 back then… ahh I feel old now! >_< Haha!

10.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

13455782

„Shatter Me“ is one of those series I only discovered after joining goodreads but I’m really so glad that I did! XD I loved this series to bits and pieces and the writing style as well as the love story totally blew me away! I still want a bf like Aaron Warner and I think this will never change. ❤ I rushed through the entire series in about 2 weeks and this even though I could only read it when my kid was sleeping. *lol* So that should say it all. 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Do we have some books in common? And if yes, did you rush through them as well? Can you recommend me a book that will glue me to its pages?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Great Book Quotes

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is:  Book Quotes that Fit X Theme (Pick any theme you want, i.e., motivational quotes, romantic dialogues, hunger-inducing quotes, quotes that fill you with hope, quotes on defeating adversity, quotes that present strong emotions, healing, etc. and then select quotes from books that fit that theme.)

Okay, I decided to go for great book quotes here because there are so many and I love quotes no matter if they are serious or funny! ;-P They are just great quotes and fit no particular theme though. So I guess you might say this is my somewhat own spin on this topic. *lol*

1.) “The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.” – „Six of Crows“ by Leigh Bardugo

23437156

I remember reading „Six of Crows“ for the very first time and I was so thrilled by all the amazing banter and the great quotes. Leigh Bardugo wrote a masterpiece with this duology (that’s going to be a trilogy at some point!) and some of the quotes she came up with are epic and will be remembered for ages! Also when I saw that they used some of the quotes as the titles for the episodes of the „Shadow and Bone“ Netflix series I was totally over the moon! ❤

2.) “Kiss me again,” he says, drunk and foolish. “Kiss me until I am sick of it.” – „The Wicked King“ by Holly Black

26032887. sy475

Okay, but seriously, Cardan’s quotes in this series and his attitude are one of a kind and I just couldn’t get enough of this faerie! I’m such a sucker for Cardan and when I wrote my „The Wicked King“ review I said he could easily be the 8th member of BTS. *lol* Big mistake! Now I can’t unthink it anymore and whenever I picture Cardan in my mind I see V now. Haha! Honestly though! Tae when he wears those golden contact lenses and has dark hair?! *screams in Cardan*

3.) ”War doesn’t determine who’s right. War determines who remains.” – „The Poppy War“ by R.F. Kuang

35068705

There are so many amazing quotes in „The Poppy War“ it’s really hard to pick just one, but after thinking about it for a while I decided to go with this one. It’s very true and when I read it in the book this really hit me. For me „The Poppy War“ was quite a challenging book because at some points I actually had to put it aside in order to digest what I read. Not gonna lie, I’m still not over a lot of the things that happened in here and I’m also still working on finding the courage to read book two.

4.) ”Fear was Can’t.
Fear was Won’t.
But fear wasn’t ever a choice.” – „Darkdawn“ by Jay Kristoff

52783987. sy475

Fear is a recurring topic in „The Nevernight Chronicles“ and it’s like a thread that’s running through the entire trilogy. There’s a lot of discussion about fear and the different shades it can come in, as well as how it motivates, paralyzes or inhibits us and guides our actions. I always like things like this in my books so I really enjoyed that Jay Kristoff addressed this as a topic in his books.

5.) “The trouble with denial is that when the truth comes, you aren’t ready.” – „We Are Okay“ by Nina LaCour

28243032

This was one of the few grief reps I had the pleasure to read and I really liked it. A LOT! Nina LaCour is such a skilled writer and she conveys the different emotions of grief so well. Plus everything she wrote in here is true and that really hit me in the feels. If you’re interested in a good grief rep and haven’t read this book yet I can totally recommend it!

6.) ”Asking to hold a musician’s instrument is roughly similar to asking to kiss a man’s wife. Nonmusicians don’t understand. An instrument is like a companion and a lover.“ – „The Name of the Wind“ by Patrick Rothfuss

186074

And here we go with another book that’s full of great quotes! Today I decided to chose the one about music instruments because it resonated so much with me when I read it. *lol* I feel exactly the same way about my bass and guitar and whenever someone wants to touch them I’ve to suppress the urge to clutch them. XD Also I agree: an instrument is really like a companion and a lover. *lol*

7.) ”My words are unerring tools of destruction, and I’ve come unequipped with the ability to disarm them.“ – „The Raven Boys“ by Maggie Stiefvater

17675462. sy475

I feel this quote on so many levels it’s not normal anymore. There are often times in my life when I feel exactly the same way Gansey feels while he says that. Sometimes we just can’t seem to be able to choose the right words and no matter how much we try, they still come out wrong and we’re misunderstood. I love this quote so much and I think about it often so it definitely had to land in here! XD

8.) ”Your love is worthless. It’s your hate I need.” – „King of the Dark“ by Ariana Nash

54359996. sy475

Vasili’s words are so ruthless and cruel, yet this quote has some unexplainable allure for me. *lol* I can’t really describe it but something resonated with me when I read it. Maybe it’s because I’m a person that believes that love can conquer everything and to hear that he doesn’t want love but hate instead is oddly fascinating? It implies that hate is the stronger emotion, but I think Vasili will stand corrected by the end of that trilogy. Or well, at least I hope he will. *lol*

9.) ”Listen and learn it, learn to tell it, and tell it to teach it.” – „A Charm of Finches“ by Suanne Laqueur

33299920. sx318

I think this is a great motto to live by and just one of the many reasons why I loved „A Charm of Finches“ so much! This book is really great and it tackles so many tough topics I had to cry mulitple times while I read it. Yet at the same time it’s one of the most beautiful books I ever read as well. Suanne!!! Damn why do you write such great books? XD My emotions are still all over the place!

10.) ”Don’t let him escape!” said Mum. “This could be your only chance at securing a spouse!” – „Radio Silence“ by Alice Oseman

41827561. sy475

I had to laugh so hard when I read this in „Radio Silence“! Frances’s mother was such a great character and I really love that parents are always an important part in Alice Oseman’s books. Unlike in other YA books they actually play an active role in their childrens lives and I think we definitely need more reps like that!

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which kind of quote theme did you chose for this „Top Ten Tuesday“ topic? Did you like the ones I chose and if yes which one was your favourite? Did you read any of the books I mentioned and did you enjoy them too? Are you planning to read some of them?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Animals from Books

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Animals from Books (these could be mythical, real, main characters, sidekicks, companions/pets, shifters, etc.) (Submitted by Paige @paigesquared and Jennifer Y. @ Never Too Many to Read)

Okay, I think I’ll go with creatures and animals here because some of the characters I came up with are actually no animals. *lol*

1.) Syrinx from „Crescent City“ by Sarah J. Maas

44778083

Who wouldn’t want to have their own chimera as a pet? I mean Syrinx is so damn adorable and I just wanted to cuddle him whenever he appeared in a scene. I can imagine sitting down on my sofa at night and stroking his fur. *lol* I bet this would be soothing af! XD And exactly what I’d need after a long day at work. Everyone should have a Syrinx!

2.) Buckbeak from „Harry Potter“ by J.K. Rowling

BuckBeak (@FlyingBirdBeaky) | Twitter

Buckbeak was one of the magical creatures I loved the most when I read Harry Potter! (The dragons in book four though!! *lol*) Hippogriffs are such intriguing creatures and I love that you can only ride them when they approve of you. Manners are everything and those creatures have them down to a T. Also those soft feathers! Ahh to fly on Buckbeak must be amazing!

3.) Abraxos from „Throne of Glass“ by Sarah J. Maas

29559052. sy475

Abraxos is the best wyvern you will ever find! He has a heart of gold and even though he looks like a big bad dragon he loves flowers and is super soft! Seriously! I loved Abraxos so damn much! Manon was totally soft for him too and I lived and breathed for their friendship! ❤ I want an Abraxos as well! Where can I get one?! XD

4.) Nighteyes from „The Farseer Trilogy“ by Robin Hobb

77198

I always wanted to befriend a wolf and the bond between Fitz and Nighteyes is nothing but amazing! ❤ Nighteyes humour and sarcasm were everything and I really wish I would have a friend like him too! Fitz could always count on him and Nighteyes was the best companion anyone could wish for. Plus his playful side was totally amusing!

5.) The Whispering Skull from „Lockwood & Co“ by Jonathan Stroud

14059024

Yes, I admit it: I’m a fan of the whispering skull! Haha! But how couldn’t I be? That guy… erm… that skull is awesome! I had to laugh so hard whenever he made one of his sarcastic remarks and he really grew on me throughout the entire series! His love-hate relationship with Lucy was just great! *lol* And the moment when it was revealed who he was!!! Ahhh!! Not going to spoil here! Read the series and find out for yourself! ;-P

6.) Mr. Kindly from „The Nevernight Chronicles“ by Jay Kristoff

52783987. sy475

Quite honestly the not-cat is probably one of the best things Jay Kristoff ever invented. *lol* Well, okay AIDEN IS the best thing he ever invented but Mr. Kindly definitely comes in second. XD Now that I write this I just realized that I seem to have a weakness for sarcastic characters because Mr. Kindly most definitely has that character trait as well. Haha! Loved his battle of words with Eclipse and Mia. They were highly entertaining and Mr. Kindly is one of a kind! Moreover he could swallow my fears and if that wouldn’t come in handy then I don’t know! ;-P

7.) Arion from „The Heroes of Olympus“ by Rick Riordan

15714024

There are a lot of things that make Arion sort of special! For one he can run faster than the wind. His diet includes eating gold (which would be pretty expensive on the longrun, but I guess that’s exactly the reason why he’s sticking around Hazel) and he curses like a sailor! *LOL* What’s not to love??!!! I really want a horse like Arion now! I couldn’t afford to feed him though. XD

8.) The Suriel from „A Court of Thorns and Roses“ by Sarah J. Maas

16096824. sy475

I ABSOLUTELY loved the Suriel! I know some people might thing that’s crazy but the Suriel was legit one of the best characters in the ACOTAR series! It might have only been a side character and it might have looked creepy but it was amazing and had such a great personality! It was wise and kind of soft for Feyre and I lived for it! *lol* One of the most underrated side-characters ever! ❤

9.) Carver from „Deadmarsh Fey“ by Melika Dannese Hick

39889091. sy475

It’s been a while I read Melika’s book but Carver that little devilish fiend is still on my mind! And just in case you wondered: Yes, Carver is the faerie in the back that touches the boy’s shoulder! *lol* „Deadmarsh Fey“ was one of the best faerie books I ever read because it didn’t only hold to the legends and myths but also the atmosphere of the old house in the moor was just great! It had the right amount of spooky and Carver was such a nice villain! His biting banter with Roger was the best!

10.) Chainsaw from „The Raven Cycle“ by Maggie Stiefvater

20257177

And last but not least: Chainsaw from TRC! Of course Chainsaw made it on my list because Chainsaw is no normal raven but also a very special creature. She’s super intelligent and she can communicate with Ronan so that’s pretty amazing! I want a Chainsaw too! (Also the name!!! Haha! I love that Ronan named her Chainsaw!)

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Did you read the same books and do you like any of the bookish pets, creatures and side characters I mentioned? What are your favourite bookish animals from books?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies (submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl)

I have way too many ideas so you’ll get my Top10 with 6 honourable mentions! *lol* Sorry, but there are a bunch of great book series I’d love to see on screen. DONE RIGHT, I may add! ;-P Everything they did with the Shadowhunters universe was such a disappointment! T_T So let’s hope those adaptions would be awesome! XD

Anyway, let’s start with the fun! *rubs hands*

Rankenzeile

1.) Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475
Now if that wouldn’t be the perfect book to make into a movie, I dunno! I’d love to see this rom-com on screen and I’d probably be swooning and laughing throughout the entire movie. *lol* The English/American gang was amazing and I’d love to see Alex’s mom and dad on screen! Also Henry… ahh I’d adore that precious cinnamon roll! ❤ Why is there no movie yet?! *lol*

2.) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

13519397There is no SJM fan who wouldn’t want to see this huge series of seven books on the screen! (Well, at least I don’t think there is. XD) This could be such an epic show and I’m sure it would be able to play in the league of „Game of Thrones“. The budget would have to be huge though because 7 books you could get clobbered over the head with would most definitely make for a lot of episodes. *lol*

3.) Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

32768522 I love Simon and Baz and I’d probably die if I’d see their story on screen but damn I’d be so willing to die that slow and blissful death! ❤ This series is so cute and fluffy and way more original than you might think for some sort of HP fanfiction. Also I’d be really curious how they’d implement the idea of „The Insidious Humdrum“. I’m sure that would be kind of a challenge. 😉

4.) Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

305234

This was the first faerie series I was obsessed with and I would love to see it on Netflix! Irial, Niall, Seth, Leslie, Sorcha, gosh I love this series so much! I’m sure a lot of people would watch it (if it would be done right) and the fandom would grow! As it is „Wicked Lovely“ is probably one of the most underrated faerie series out there, which is sad, because Melissa Marr wrote this series long before „Throne of Glass“ and ACOTAR were even a thing! Marr is the godmother of cruel and cunning faeries and I love her so much for it! 😛

5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

36381037

Okay, admittedly so far I’ve only read „Cinder“ and a short story but they were both great and I’d really love to see how they’d adapt it to the screen. The idea of fairy tales that have an original sci-fi and dystopian spin is just too good and I’d love to see the cast for Cinder, Iko, Levanna and Prince Kai! I think to write this now made me want to continue with the series. *lol* Guess it’s time to go for „Scarlett“ soon! XD

6.) Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

23395680. sy475

I can’t think of a book series that would be more suitable for being a Netflix show than this one! I swear the entire time I read those books I was like: Damn! This would be such a suspenseful movie!! Truth be told to read this actually felt like reading a movie so I’d love to see Netflix’s take on this series. Also I want to swoon over Kady, Ezra, Nick and especially AIDAN!!! *lol* ❤

7.) Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman

28954189

I just love everything about those books. The idea of a world in which no one has to die and the Scythedom regulates the population by randomly gleaning people is such an intriguing concept. Take all the other things that are part of this and you’ve the concept for an amazing dystopian series. Also the questions that are posed in each and every single book! Ahh! I’m sure if I’d see this only as a movie my mind would be as boggled as after watching „Inception“ for the very first time. *lol*

8.) Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud

13555073

This would be THE series to watch after Supernatural! XD Okay, it would be more middle grade and less X rated, but I’m sure it would be at least as scary. 😛 I wish this series would have existed when I was a kid because I would have loved it so much! Stroud’s world building is amazing and I’m convinced this would have even more fans as a Netflix series. 😉 I mean „Stranger Things“ does have a lot of fans too even though most of the MCs are kids. XD I’m sure this would work here too.

9.) Villains Series by V.E. Schwab

40874032. sy475

This just needs to be a movie/show!!! Period! I would love to see Victor and Eli on screen and ahh I’d probably die if they would manage to assemble a great cast! ❤ I swear just to see Victor Vale on TV would give me a heart-attack. I love him so much and I love that this series is all morally grey and that you don’t know if you hate or love the characters. *lol* Yes, „Villains“ definitely would make for a fast paced and intriguing Netflix show! I NEED it NOW!!!

10.) Gentleman Bastard by Scott Lynch

865293
I love this series so much, especially because it’s so cleverly done. You have to keep your wits about you in that one and there are so many lies and deceptions that it’s not easy to identify them all. ;-P Also the world building!!! It’s marvellous! Just to see Locke and Jean in action would be enough for me! XD Those two are amazing and I’m honest here, I’d love to have a face for Locke. Since he’s a con man he fits in everywhere and is very conscious of his appearance so I always had difficulties to imagine him properly. *lol*

Honorable Mentions:

11.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Kvothe on TV? YES, PLEASE!!! I love my redhead and I’d be sooo down to see his journey as a Netflix show! Well, maybe one day Patrick Rothfuss will finally write the 3rd book and we’ll actually get a series! A boy can always dream, right? *lol*

12.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

All I’m saying is: WARNER!!! ❤ Ahh oh gods, if they’d cast him right I’d probably drool and swoon throughout the entire series! And yes, this would have to be a series because there are 6 main books and a lot of novellas. So lots of potential and a good storyline. Give me Warner and Kenji! Please?! XD

13.) The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I’ve loved this series so much and I’d die to see Adelina and Raffaele on screen! I was always so curious about how they’d look and if they’d make it real good this movie series could be amazing! Also I think we need more series with morally grey characters and this one, well, it would be perfect! 😉

14.) Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

Okay, I’d probably die a slow and painful death watching this show but I’d still love every second of it, because Fitz is one of my favourite fantasy characters ever and to see him suffer so much would be pure hell! Still, I love Fitz and the Fool and I’d be willing to accept the consequence of getting my heart ripped out as long as it’s done masterfully. ❤

15.) Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

Yes, I’m aware this is a controversial series but I’d still like to see it on screen. I mean obviously it’s not for a young audience but hey, lots of people watched „Game of Thrones“ and this even though it was cruel and brutal and had slaves in it. So I guess there would be a market for this one as well. Especially because from book two on this is one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read and it’s AWEsome!!! ❤

16.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

As far as I know there IS going to be a series, but I have no idea when it will come out and if it will be available for me. XD I would watch the hell out of this because as you all know TRC is one of my favourite book series ever and yes, I’m honest here, if the cast wouldn’t be okay I’d be devastated. *lol* So they better make an effort to keep to the books!!! Or – and I’m aware I’m repeating myself here because I feel so strongly about all those books and series I just mentioned – I might actually die! No pressure, right?! ;-P

17.) I wish I could say „The Shadowhunter World“ here but urgh, they made a movie and it sucked, they made a series and it sucked and by now I gave up hope that they’ll ever do it justice! >_< Apparently some things just aren’t meant to be on screen. *sighs*

Rankenzeile

So what do you think?! Are there any books/series you’d love to see on Netflix? Do you agree with my choices? Did I miss a book you’d love to see adapted? What’s your take on books being adapted into Netflix shows or movies? Yay or nay? And if „nay“ why?!

Talk to me and let me know! ;-P

And as always: Stay healthy and safe!
