TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).
Today’s Topic is: : Non-book Freebie (choose your own topic that’s not related to books! This could be hobbies, TV shows/movies, bands/singers, food items/recipes, top ten things about you, your top ten favorite things, places you’ve visited, favorite fashion designers, etc. Take this time to let your readers get to know you a little!) – I’m choosing TV shows here because there are so many TV series that didn’t only have me hooked but also formed me somehow? Some of them are old ones other are new, but they all have some meaning to me. 😉 Also those are just 10 of my faves! There would have been so many more I could have mentioned. XD
1.) „Buffy the Vampire Slayer“
This was probably one of the first adult series I ever watched from beginning to ending and I was addicted. Back then they got out one episode each Wednesday and I never missed a single one. And if I did I recorded it so I could watch it later on. *lol* I think Buffy might have been responsible for my fascination with vampires and damn! Buffy was such a cool girl! Looking at it in retrospective I think she might have been my bi awakening because I now realize that I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be her or date her. *LOL*
2.) „Emergency Room“
I don’t know what it was about this series but it had me glued to the TV. I watched it as a kid and I was so fascinated by those docs that tried to save lives and fought their own problems and demons while trying to keep people alive. You can say what you want to but long before „Grey’s Anatomy“, „Scrubs“ or all the other TV series that play at a hospitals became a thing and hit the screens it was „Emergency Room“ that paved the way for all of them. 😉 Because of that this series will always be special for me.
3.) „Star Trek“
I got my love for „Star Trek“ and „Star Wars“ from my dad and this is one of the first things we bonded over. We watched the series together and a while later I even watched „Stargate“ with my him. Haha! I’m pretty sure my dad and all his science fiction series were the start of my deep love for sci-fi. It’s a genre I like to read in as well, but I don’t do it all too often. Whenever a book captures my interest I’m always enjoying it, though.
4.) „Supernatural“
I can’t believe there are so many seasons of „Supernatural“ out there now. *lol* I love this series so much and Sam and Dean will always hold a special place in my heart! Those brothers and their friends! Amazing! ❤ Plus it literally has everything supernatural in it. From ghosts to demons and angels, the devil, etc. You name it! It’s in the series. I’m at season 9 now and I’ll make sure to finish the series one day. It’s just too good.
5.) „Yuri on Ice!“
This was my first comfort watch series ever and I still watch it when I need comfort. The way Yuri fights his way back into the spotlight and on the ice! How him and Victor bond and become so much more than just friends! AHHH! I just love this series so much! Also let’s not forget about the great figure skating moments and our little Russian Yuuri!! He is awesome! ❤ This anime lives in my mind rent-free and I’ll never get tired of it. Kinda sad there never was a season two. T_T
6.) „Hwarang“
„Hwarang“ was my first k-drama ever and it got me hooked on so many other and amazing k-dramas! I came for Taehyung from BTS and stayed because of the great acting and everything else! Like OMG! Park Hyung-sik and Park Seo-joon! They are so damn good actors! All of them! I cried, I laughed, my heart broke, was healed again. I went through all the emotions watching this series and it was worth it! Not to mention that they were all drop dead gorgeous and made me melt. Such a great series! If you haven’t watched it yet, do it! 😉
7.) „Castle“
I really loved this series and watched all eight seasons. A writer that helps a detective to solve murder cases was such an interesting premise and it totally delivered! Beckett and Castle were awesome and I loved to solve all those murder cases with them! What I enjoyed about this series was that there is so much heart in it and that you could guess with them. You got as much information about the murder as them and then could draw your own conclusions. It was a fun time! I really like series that make me think.
8.) „Queer as Folk“
When I was a teen I started to watch „The L Word“ and later on I discovered that there is a series about gay men called „Queer As Folk“ too. So I went for it and never regretted it. It was so damn good, had me crying and hoping and living with the characters. It was so nice to see LGBTQ+ reps in a series and it was quite the journey. Seeing them celebrate Pride together actually made me want to go to Pride too and I did in 2019 and it was amazing! So you might as well say this series caused me to embrace myself and to actually go out there. =)
9.) „Heartstopper“
I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! Doesn’t matter if it’s the comics or the actual TV show! They did such a good job with it and it’s my second comfort watch! When I have a shitty day and need something to cheer me up, when I need to cuddle into my blanket and eat ice cream, it’s „Heartstopper“ I watch because this series is everything and Nick and Charlie give me life! They are so wholesome and I love them with all my heart. ❤
10.) „The Walking Dead“
I started to watch „The Walking Dead“ a couple of months ago and this series is really good. I’ve always been fascinated by zombies and zombie stories but the sheer amount of 11 seasons made me hesitant to start with it. Well, I did and it’s really good. What I like about this series is that it doesn’t just show how the people fight against zombies but also that they have to fight against other people as well. It’s a good study of humanity and of how far people will go when everything goes to hell. The conflicts among the human survivors are most of the time way worse than those with the zombies and I think that says a lot about people in general. Very interesting series with gory effects.
So what about you? What are your favourite TV shows? Do we have some in common? Also do you know any interesting series that are similar to the ones I mentioned? (I’m always looking for good and new show recs!) Which TV shows are your favourites and why?
Talk to me and let me know!
And as always take care and stay healthy and safe!
