Top Ten Tuesday: Places In Books I’d Love to Live

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Places In Books I’d Love to Live

Ahh what an amazing topic!!! ❤ This is going to be fun!

1.) Hogwarts – Harry Potter

So teuer ist das erste Schuljahr in Hogwarts

Okay, but honestly who wouldn’t want to live in Hogwarts? *lol* I’m still waiting for my letter, because this is THE SCHOOL for me! All the magic and the fact that this castle always changes, not to mention that they teach magic in there! I SO want to live in one of those Gryffindor dorm rooms and I want to eat the amazing food! ❤

2.) Velaris – A Court of Thorns and Roses

I think everyone who read ACOTAR fell in love with this city! It sounds so beautiful and great, I’d love to wander through the streets and to eat in one of all those intriguing restaurants. The fact that it’s at the sea and apparently has a warm climate only makes this even more appealing! Hey Lucien, can I move into that apartment with you? *lol*

3.) Cabeswater/Monmouth Manufacturing/The Barns – The Raven Cycle

Is there a more magical and enchanting place than Cabeswater? I don’t think so! It sounds like such a great place to be and to be honest I wouldn’t mind staying at any of the many places that are mentioned in „The Raven Cycle“. No matter if it’s Monmouth Manufacturing (who wouldn’t want to live in an old factory building and be roomies with the Raven Boys?), The Barns (gosh all the awesome things Ronan created!!!) or 300 Fox Way (Blue’s funny and crazy psychic family!) all those locations would be amazing! ❤

4.) The London Insitute – Shadowhunter Series

I love London and I’m a huge fan of the Shadowhunter Series. 😀 So there are already two good reasons why I’d want to live in the London Institute.  😉 Aside from that it’s also a place with a lot of history and charm. Also let’s not forget that Tessa, Will and Jem and all their friends and their entire family lived there. Just to be able to pick up one of Wills old books with his handwritten notes in it would already be so satisfying. *lol*

5.) The Harbour – The Starless Sea

I’m afraid Erin Morgenstern ruined me with her books! *lol* The mere idea of „The Harbour“ is such a great one that I wish I could actually live there. I mean seriously! It was basically described as some sort of subwaystation with millions of books and thousands of different rooms that all lead somewhere! You never know where you’ll get once you open one of those doors and a curious fox like me probably could get lost in there. Also the cozy atmosphere! Lots of cats and a fireplace! Ahh where is my door to the harbour? XD

6.) Jav & Stef’s flat – A Charm of Finches

This is a totally selfish choice because I love Jav and Stef and their home sounded so warm and comfortable! If I’d be friends with them I’d just crash on their couch and watch those two lovebirds being all sweet while they cook dinner! *lol* And well, of course I’d eat dinner with them too because I’m sure it would be delicous! XD

7.) The Night Circus

And here we go with another Erin Morgenstern book! 😉 The Night Circus was such a great book and I was totally mesmerized by its beauty. The details Erin wrote out for every single tent and it’s purpose, the magic of a wandering circus, the sweets and all the excitement. Ahh to be a part of this and to live with the circus would be so amazing! 😀

8.) Elfhame – The Folk of the Air

I suppose this choice is purely based on homesickness. *lol* But I AM a faerie after all and Elfhame is sort of … well, my home. ;-P I miss those islands and the green hill. And of course I miss Jude and Cardan. XD It’s about time I read the last book! Anyway! Revels, dancing, eating, cavorting, flirting, being in the company of beautiful faeries, trying not to fall for a bargain you’ll regret, watching your back so no one will stab you… Ahh, home sweet home! What’s not to love? *lol*

9.) Camp Half-Blood – Percy Jackson

After reading so many Percy Jackson books I can say that to live at Camp Half-Blood sounds like fun. XD I have no idea in which cabin I’d be sorted but as long as I’d be with my half-siblings it would be okay. 😀 To sit around the campfire at night and to sing songs like „This Land is Mino’s Land“ sounds like a good time, especially after a long day that was full of capture the flag. *lol*

10.) Skarmouth – The Scorpio Races

Okay, admittedly for most people this island wouldn’t be appealing but for me it somehow is? I dunno why, but Maggie Stiefvater wrote this place so well that I could feel the cold wind on my skin and smell the salty ocean breeze! The most interesting thing about Skarmouth are the water horses though! Such beautiful, powerful and frightenting creatures! ❤ I’d love to live on that island just to see them!

Did you read any of the books I mentioned and did you fall in love with those places too? At which bookish places would you love to live and why? Do we have some in common? Is there a bookish place I should definitely read about?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud

Dieses Bild hat ein leeres alt-Attribut; sein Dateiname ist ttt-new.png.

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud (Claire @ Book Lovers Pizza)

I can already tell that to find such books is going to be tough. *lol* I read way too many serious books and definitely should go for more fun reads. XD

1.) Carry On – Rainbow Rowell

I remember sitting in the train while I read this and earning a lot of irritated glances and raised eyebrows when I burst out laughing. *lol* But seriously this book made me laugh so hard sometimes. Baz and Simon were just too hilarious and when I wasn’t laughing about their antics I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat because they were so adorable and cute. XD No wonder this book became one of my all time favourites! If you want to read my full review you can do it here!

2.) Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475

Ahhh! „Red, White & Royal Blue“ was such a revelation! I loved this book to bits and pieces and it made me laugh quite a lot! When I went into this I already knew that a lot of people loved it but I wasn’t prepared for all the serious topics this tackled. The world in RWARB is such an open-minded and great world and I really wish things would be like that in real life too. So in some way to read about Alex’s and Henry’s relationship gave me hope and I’m convinced we can reach this kind of contentment and equality one day. If you’re interested in reading my full review just follow the link!

3.) The Hating Game – Sally Thorne

25883848. sy475

I had so much fun reading this because Lucy and Josh were amazing! They didn’t give each other an inch and their banter and battle of words was so damn amusing I can’t even! *lol* Boy, were they at each other’s throats! XD Their barbs were quite something and I couldn’t get enough of their witty altercations. I admit, I kinda lived and breathed for their little war. Haha! And of course I’m a sucker for the enemies-to-lovers trope, which made this an even more enjoyable read. There’s nothing better than people who are quick-witted and have a sharp tongue. ;-P

4.) Stephanie Plum Novels – Janet Evanovich

Janet Evanovich’s books always make me laugh out loud, especially her Stephanie Plum novels! Stephanie is such an awesome MC and I love Grandma Mazur and Lula! *lol* Plus, Morelli as well as Ranger are both really fine men I certainly wouldn’t say „no“ to. XD Whenever I need a good laugh I’ll pick up this series and just dive right into the fun. I can really recommend it! ;-P

5.) Percy Jackson – Rick Riordan

You just gotta love Percy’s sass and his defiance! Plus he’s super sarcastic and I love characters like that. 😉 This said, every single one of Uncle Rick’s books is highly entertaining and his humour is great! I might have been late to the party but I’ve read a lot of his books by now and so far I’ve enjoyed them all. So what are you waiting for? If you want to read something funny and great this is the right series for you! (And it’s extremely child-friendly too!)

6.) Six of Crows Doulogy – Leigh Bardugo

I think we can all agree that the conversations in this duology are iconic! ❤ In fact they are so iconic that I’m still looking for another series that reaches this level of awesomeness! The banter between the six MCs is hilarious and I’ve rarely come across a book that was as quote-worthy as SoC! If you ever find another book that comes even close to this: I’m ready for your rec! *lol* And just in case you want to read my super long reviews: You can read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by following the links!

7.) Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli

Ahh I just love this book! Simon is such a relatable MC and even though „Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda“ touches a lot of serious topics it’s still a fun read that had me smiling like crazy. Yes, sometimes I even had to laugh but mostly it’s just a feel-good book that makes you immensely happy and gives you all those papilionaceous feels! Look at me throwing around all those difficult words! Haha! (I’m typing this in the middle of the night btw and my brain is running on too little coffee to think clearly… which come to think of it explains everything about me, yet nothing at all. *lol*)

8.) Boyfriend Material – Alexis Hall

I requested this as an ARC from NetGalley and I was really happy I got approved for it! This was such a fun ride and Luc and Oliver had me laughing about their „fake-dating“ antics. Their conversation about being fake-boyfriends were hilarious and I’ll definitely watch out for Alexis Hall’s next book! If you’re looking for a short and diverting read this one’s for you. 😉

9.) The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Mackenzi Lee

29283884. sy475

Okay, if you have no idea what this book is about and who’s Monty you better get your hands on a copy and start to read now, because this was HILARIOUS!!! I swear Monty’s POV already had me dying of laughter when I was just a couple of pages into the book and it basically continued in that vein until I finished the book. If you love chaotic historical road trips that have just the right amount of adorable „awww“ moments, then you should definitely consider to give this a shot! 😉

10.) The Deal – Elle Kennedy

I know the cover is nice eye candy but don’t let it lead you astray. 😉 The content of this is great and some scenes had me wiping away tears of laughter. XD My dear friend Lia recommended me this book when I was in dire need of something funny and sexy and to say she hit the nail right on the head would be putting it more than just mildly. *lol* This said, I really enjoyed „The Deal“ and I’m looking forward to read the other books of this series too. (Apparently there are 3 more that all feature Garret’s friends and their own stories.)

Is it just me or do most of those fun reads actually have a comic like cover? *lol* Might be just my imagination but it’s interesting how comic covers kinda seem to take over the world. ;-P

Did you read any of the books I mentioned and did you laugh while reading them too? Do you have any hilarious book recommendations I just NEED to read? And are you curious about some of the books I wrote about?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020

Dieses Bild hat ein leeres alt-Attribut; sein Dateiname ist ttt-new.png.

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020 (If you didn’t read 10 new authors, that’s fine! Just do what you can.)

1.) Roshani Chokshi (The Gilded Wolves)

Quote: ”The world has a shit memory. It will never pay its debts unless you force its hand.”

I think Roshani was one of the first authors in 2020 that persuaded me to continue to read her books. When I started „The Gilded Wolves“ I expected it to go into the direction of „Six of Crows“ but it definitely turned out to be so much more than that. After reading the ending that left me reeling I’ve been dying to get my hands on a copy of „The Silvered Serpents“, but so far I didn’t get a chance to read it. (Not for lack of trying. *lol* I even requested and ARC but unfortunately wasn’t approved.) Well, I suppose I will wait until the third book comes out before I read TSS because rumour has it that it ends on a cliffhanger. So in order to spare myself a heartattack I’ll definitely finish this series in one go! ;-P

2.) Kerri Maniscalco (Stalking Jack the Ripper)

Quote: „Fear is a hungry beast. The more you feed it, the more it grows.“

28962906. sy475
I’ve heard so many good things about this series and got curious about Thomas Cresswell. (Especially after all the swooning from fans. *lol*) So I had to investigate and discovered that the first book was really enjoyable. Sure there could have been a better plot but all things considered this was a nice start into a new series. I’ll definitely read all the other books as well and „Kingdom of the Wicked“ is already on my Book List 2021. =)

3.) Angie Thomas (The Hate U Give)

Quote: „The truth casts a shadow over the kitchen – people like us in situations like this become hashtags, but they rarely get justice. I think we all wait for that one time though, that one time when it ends right.“
43819388. sy475
This was my first Angie Thomas book and certainly not my last! I already put „On the Come Up“ on my TBR pile and I can’t wait to read more of her other books. She’s such a great own voices author and she tackles super important topics. It’s always important to speak up against injustice and I think Angie is doing a great job with her books! So if you haven’t heard from her yet you better run to your library and borrow this book!

4.) Frederik Backmann (Beartown)

Quote: „It doesn’t take a lot to be able to let go of your child. It takes everything.“

33413128. sy475
Up until last year I never read any of Backmann’s books and this was the first one I chose to tackle. And let me tell you this: Boy, that man can write! This book was exceptionally painful to read and had me in tears multiple times. Which is why I loved it so much but also the reason why I decided to read only one Backmann book per year. My heart definitely couldn’t take more than one of his heartbreaking books at a time. XD There are plenty of Backmann books out there and I’ll make sure to read them all.

5.) Suanne Laqueur (Venery Series)

Quote: „They shared breath, poised on a shared edge, shaking all their separate pieces into one.“

29637128. sy475
I found this series through NetGalley because they were promoting the third book and gave away reading copies for the first. And I’m so glad I clicked that request button because otherwise I would have missed out on one of the best book series I ever read! XD Suanne is a master at capturing human nature and what it means to be alive and I consider it a privilege to be able to read her books! Funnily enough we’ve also become some sort of friends after I wrote updates about her books and she stalked them. *lol* (Hey there, Suanne! ;-P) So if you’ve never heard of her Venery Series and you love intricate stories with an LGBTQ+ rep: What are you waiting for?!!

6.) Nora Sakavic (The Foxhole Court)

Quote: „Easy, easy.“ Andrew lifted his hands in a careless shrug. „Why bother? It’s a cruel world, right Neil? You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t.“
„It’s not the world that’s cruel,“ Neil said. „It’s the people in it.“

I have no idea what it is about this book but I was obsessed with it right from the moment I started to read it! The only reason I haven’t begun to read book 2 and 3 by now is because I don’t want to rush through this series! I want to savour Andrew Minyard and Neil Josten and ahhhh I loved this so damn much. All those broken characters Nora Sakavic invented just tug at my heartstrings. ❤ Those characters are my kryptonite and I’m sooo going to read the rest of her series too! As far as I could see she only wrote this trilogy and another book named „Elysium“. So I really hope she’ll write more.

7.) Courtney Summers (Sadie)

Quote: „For some people, the future ahead is opportunity. For others, it’s only time you haven’t met and where I lived, it was only time. You don’t waste your breath trying to protect it. You just try to survive it until one day, you don’t.“

34810320. sy475
Courney Summers „Sadie“ was such a revelation! I never read any of her books (apparently there are quite a few) and this was the first one I picked up. And it was so, so good. The atmosphere in „Sadie“ was exceptionally haunting and eerie, the characters either broken or already close to their breaking point. To read this was… painful and I think I’ll never get over this book. If all of Courtney’s books are like that I’ll continue to read them but I’ll make sure only to read one every year as well. *lol* Some books you just have to digest! XD

8.) Stuart Turton (The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle)

Quote: „If this isn’t hell, the devil is surely taking notes.“

To read this was so much fun! I swear I never had as much fun solving a murder as I had while reading this book. „Murder on the Orient Express“ probably came pretty close but this also had a fiction element in it and I’m such a sucker for those! *lol* So yes, to piece this puzzle together caused my brain to go into overdrive. We all know that I love myself a good challenge and thrive when my braincells have to work though, so I actually enjoyed every second of it. ;-P Can I have more books like that, please?

9.) Erin A. Craig (House of Salt and Sorrows)

Quote: ”The very delight of such an evening is being your complete self with a total stranger, don’t you think? Spilling your innermost thoughts – ones too dark and deep to ever speak in the light of day, confessing sins of passion and pleasure, maybe even misbehaving, and none of it matters, because if you don’t know who you’re toying with, then what’s the harm in it?”

„House of Salt and Sorrows“ would have made such a great Halloween read! It was really creepy and sometimes even gory and the old mansion by the sea made for such an intriguing setting! I wasn’t all too attached to the characters but the atmosphere and the mystery of this book were interesting enough to make up for it. If Erin A. Craig releases  her next book I’ll definitely be there to take a closer look! 😀

10.) Soman Chainani (School for Good and Evil)

Quote: ”Tonight she would be taken into the woods. Tonight she would begin a new life. Tonight she would live out her fairy tale.”

My dear friend Sabrina raved about this so often that I got really curious and I’m so glad I finally picked this series up when I found it in my library! „The School for Good and Evil“ was so much fun and even though it’s based on fairy tales it had such a unique spin that I couldn’t help but fall head over heels for this world and its characters! Agatha and Sophie are amazing and I really need to read the other books soon! Luckily Soman Chainani obviously wrote a lot of them so I doubt I’ll run out of reading material anytime soon. *lol*

What about you? Which new authors did you discover in 2020 and can you recommend their books? Do we have some authors in common? Are there any new authors you want to read in 2021?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Hope Santa Brings

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books I Hope Santa Brings (or the Christkind in my case ;P ) I’m pretty sure it will have to make an effort because some of them are quite hard to get! XD

P.S: In Austria the Christkind is bringing Christmas presents at the night of December 24th. And it’s basically baby Jesus who is an angel and delivers presents. Don’t ask me why our children believe into a little baby angel that delivers presents. *lol* And before you even think about how unrealistic that is, hold that thought and think about who Santa actually is. I suppose the idea of a bearded man who delivers presents by jumping on a slay that is pulled by reindeers is at least as unrealistic as our Christkind delivering them with magic. *lol* So I guess we’re even in the imagination department. ;-P Anywayyyy …. let’s do this! Kids are so adorable! ❤

1.) „The Silvered Serpents“ by Roshani Chokshi

52796733. sy475
I’ve been dying to read this book ever since I finished „The Gilded Wolves“ and even went as far as to get an account on NetGalley just to request an ARC. Which I obviously didn’t get or I wouldn’t hope the Christkind will bring this for Christmas! *lol* It’s about time I hold this book in my hands so please, Christkind! Could you finally get me a copy? Please?! *makes huge puppy eyes*

2.) „Cemetery Boys“ by Aiden Thomas

52339313. sy475
I’ve only heard good things about this book but I didn’t manage to buy it yet so I really hope I’ll find it under my Christmas tree! XD The story of „Cemetery Boys“ just sounds too intriguing. An LGBTQ+ rep and a ghost story including a romance?! I love such things! *lol* So yep, I definitely want this for Christmas! 😉

3.) „The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue“ by V.E. Schwab

51029834. sy475
This book has been all over my feed ever since the first ARCs went out to the blogging community and tell you what? I still have it on my feed! The hype didn’t die down yet and I just can’t wait to read this! Like seriously!!! V.E. Schwab is a queen and a story about a Faustian bargain is exactly the kind of tale I didn’t even know I craved for! ❤

4.) „Felix Ever After“ by Kacen Callender

48849624. sy475
And here we go with another book that seemingly everyone except of me has read: „Felix Ever After“! 😉 I really want to read this: BADLY, I may add! But of course my library doesn’t have it and if I’d buy every book I want to read my flat would overflow. *LOL* (Not to mention all the money it would cost. XD) So I rarely buy books and if the Christkind brings me this one I’ll be forever grateful! ❤

5.) „A Scarcity of Condors“ by Suanne Laqueur

38089560. sy475
I love Suanne and her books so much and I needed this like yesterday! 😉 Also it’s the last book in her Venery series and I just want this in my life! Suanne’s books always give me all the feels and I love them so damn much, I can’t even! XD So yep, if the Christkind brings me „A Scarcity of Condors“ it would be really appreciated!!!

6.) „Any Way the Wind Blows“ by Rainbow Rowell

55602827. sy475
Okay, technically this comes out on July 6th 2021. *lol* So I suppose the Christkind would have to get pretty creative in order to get a copy for me! But I mean, it’s the Christkind after all and if it doesn’t manage to get a copy for me, well, then no one will. XD Maybe an ARC copy? It’s Simon and Baz!!! Baz and Simon! AHHHHH!!! Christkind you can do that, right? ;-P

7.) „Cold Iron Heart“ by Melissa Marr

Irial is one of the best characters ever and I was so glad to find out that this book is about him! ❤ So I definitely want to get this as a physical copy. I just love my cruel faerie king and I’ll always want more of him! Also this is a prequel to the „Wicked Lovely“ series and I might finally find out about how Irial was before he met all the others! I’m curious, guys!!!!

8.) „The Extraordinaries“ by T.J. Klune

52380340. sx318 sy475
This book has a lot of things I love! For instance superheroes, fanfiction and two best friends! „The Extraordinaries“ sounds really great and since I already put it on „My Book List 2021“ I really hope that I’ll get it for Christmas! I’d love to spend my holidays with this gem of a book and considering all the high ratings it got, I’m sure that I’ll love it! 😀

9.) „Sticks & Stones“ by Abigail Roux

Now that is a really special wish and I’d love it if the Christkind would be able to give me this book. It’s not available at the moment, I can’t buy it anywhere and my library doesn’t have it as well. T_T I think the last time I checked you could buy an old copy of it on Amazon for about EUR 92,00 which is way TOO expensive. I mean it’s a soft cover copy, I could buy about 9 other books instead of that one copy. *lol* I’m just laughing because otherwise I’d be crying. T_T I really loved the first book of the series but as it seems I’ll never be able to continue with it… well at least not unless a Christmas miracle happens. >_<

10.) „The Core“ by Peter V. Brett

And here is my last book and another one I still didn’t manage to get into my greedy hands. I borrowed all four former books from my library but they still didn’t get „The Core“. I’ve been waiting for years for them to finally get this last book of the series but no such luck. Apparently no one gave it to them or they just didn’t bother to buy the last book. >_< (WHY, library?! Why?) My library moves in mysterious ways… so yes, I’d really appreciate it if the Christkind would place this under my Christmas tree. *lol*

What about you? Which kind of books do you hope Santa will bring to you? Do we have some in common? Do your kids believe in Santa, the Christkind, Befana or something else? How do you feel about book series you can’t finish because your library didn’t get them? Do you also have troubles to get your fingers on sequels that aren’t produced anymore? Or is it just me?!

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Character Names I’d Give My Fave Animals

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is:  Characters I’d Name a Pet After (These could be your own pets (present or future), you could pick 10 different animals and tell us the name and animal type, or you could choose 10 names that would make fun cat names, etc. Put your own spin on this one!) (submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl)

And because I like unique spins I’ll go for: „Bookish Character Names I’d Give My Fave Animals“

1.) Fox – Nikolai (from „King of Scars“)

There’s no better name for a fox than Nikolai! I mean he’s basically „The too-clever Fox“ and I love Nikolai Lantsov so much! So far I only read „The Grisha Trilogy“, but I’m definitely looking forward to read „King of Scars“! A book about Nikolai is what I’ve been waiting for so it’s a dream come true. I just have to stop anticipating and go for the fun instead! *lol*
Nikolai Lantsov’s character traits: clever, sly, charismatic and playful

2.) Owl – Dorian (from „The Picture of Dorian Gray“)

„The Picture of Dorian Gray“ is one of my favourite books, if not my favourite book and I just adore Dorian! You might say Oscar Wilde is the reason why I love morally grey characters and Dorian and Lord Henry are as morally grey as they can get. Also owls are such beautiful animals and Dorian is exceptionally beautiful so the name kind of fits. XD
Dorian Gray’s character traits: shy, innocent and later on cunning & cruel

3.) Cat – Lucien (from „A Court of Thorns and Roses“)

And here is another character I can’t help but love to bits and pieces! Lucien is probably the most underrated side-character ever and I really want a HEA for him! Seriously, I hope Sarah J. Maas is currently sitting at home and writing his story because heaven knows he deserves it!!! *lol* This said: Lucien would be such a great name for a cat! It would fit perfectly if you ask me.
Lucien Vanserra’s character traits: intelligent, graceful, crafty, sarcastic

4.) Wolf – Octavian (from „Codex Alera“)

Tavi from Jim Butcher’s „Codex Alera“ was definitely one of my few bookish fantasy crushes! *lol* Because damn that boy is amazing! ❤ I loved him so much and he’s certainly one of a kind. I was so glad this series grew with him (or he grew with the series?!) and that I was able to witness his character arc first hand. 🙂 Also is there any better name for a wolf than Octavian? XD
Tavi’s character traits: honourable, altruistic, protective, adroit

5.) Axolotl – Wylan (from „Six of Crows“)

I know this might be a strange choice but I absolutely adore those tiny little Mexican salamanders. I mean look at its face!!! Isn’t it super cute and precious?! *lol* It totally reminds me of Wylan Van Eck from „Six of Crows“ and that’s exactly why I’d name it after him. There’s no better name for an axolotl than Wylan! ❤
Wylan Van Eck’s character traits: cautious, timid, innocent and creative

6.) Narwhale – Simon (from „Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda“)

Pin von Ann Testroet auf Animal in 2020 | Narwal, Unterwasser tiere, Ausgestopftes tier
I think we can all agree that Simon Spiers is some sort of a precious unicorn and a narwhale is the closest animal I could find to a unicorn so Simon it is! XD Also I really love narwhales because they are fascinating animals. They are akin to the belugas and just in case you wondered: their horn is actually no horn but a tusk that can get 4 – 5 metres long.
Simon Spier’s character traits: funny, guarded, cummunicative and honest

7.) Manta – Lazlo (from „Strange the Dreamer“)

I once met one of those when I was in Mexico and it was amazing! It silently slid through the water like smoke through air and it was so beautiful to watch! ❤ For some reason every time I think of it I have to think of Lazlo Strange too. They both glide through their world of dreams and as an outsider you can only watch it but never be a true part of it. It’s an otherworldly experience and one you’ll never forget.
Lazlo Strange’s character traits: optimistic, persistent, dreamy and candid

8.) Lynx – Javier (from „An Exaltation of Larks“)

I don’t know why but when I read „An Exaltation of Larks“ Jav always reminded me of a lynx. Tuth be told, I kind of think he’d actually enjoy that comparison. *lol* Just in case you’re reading this: Suanne, do you agree? XD Anyway, lynxes are very graceful animals so they at least share that trait with Jav. And I think we can all agree that he’s some sort of predator as well. ;-P
Javier Landes’s character traits: charming, graceful, compassionate and faithful

9.) Cockatiel – Yuki (from „Fruits Basket“)

Cockatiel Personality, Food & Care – Pet Birds by Lafeber Co.
Ever since I read „Fruits Basket“ I was a fan of the name Yuki. Don’t ask me why. At first I kind of liked Kyo more but Yuki sort of grew on me. Also I always wanted to have a cockatiel as a pet but never got one. *lol* For some reason I think the name Yuki would fit to it perfectly though. I mean look at the picture, isn’t that a Yuki!? ;-P Plus the name Yuki stands for „happiness“ and „snow“ which would fit perfectly.
Yuki Soma’s character traits: quiet, withdrawn, gentle and (later on) slightly cheeky

10.) Humming Bird – Kenji (from „Shatter Me“)

Humming Birds are amazing as is Kenji so it’s no wonder I think my humming bird should be named after him! *lol* Moreover I’m pretty certain they share quite a few character traits and Kenji would be thrilled to know that I named such an awesome bird after him. Kenji’s thoughts seem to fly from one blossom to the next and he’s always in motion. 😉
Kenji Kishimoto’s character traits: forthright, humorous, optimistic and restless
I just noticed that all the names I chose are male. *lol* Must be my current mindset. XD Anyway! How would you name your favourite animals and do we have some in common? Did you enjoy my spin on this TTT and do you agree with some of the names I chose?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always try to stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Spooky Books for Scaredy Cats (like me)

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Halloween Freebie

So since this is a freebie I decided to make my topic: „Spooky Books for Scaredy Cats (like me)“ because I get scared easily and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. 😛 So if you want to read spooky reads that are easy to digest and don’t leave you staring into the dark with your eyes wide open these ten books might be the right thing for you!

1.) Lockwood & Co. by Jonathan Stroud

I loved this series so much and I think everyone should read it! The storyline and concept of the ghosts is just great and the Lockwood & Co. crew is amazing! I loved to be a part of those „ghost hunters“ and George will always be my favourite character! ❤ Just think the early episodes of „Supernatural“ but a lot less creepy! Then you might know what you’re getting yourself into. 😉 (Psst! This is middle grade but being the scaredy fox that I am, I mostly read those books during the day. *lol*)

2.) Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

This is a book that gave me real „Supernatural“ vibes and I loved it! I mean we have an old Victorian house that’s haunted by a ghost named „Anna“ and we have Cas Lowood who makes sure the ghosts he comes across are sent where they belong. Anna’s story was so intriguing and boy did she leave a trail of blood. *lol* Not to mention that she’s one hell of a sight with her white dress all drenched in red blood. XD  I really enjoyed this and Cas is such a sweet character you couldn’t help but root for him. 😀

3.) The Ghost of Buxton Manor by Jonathan L. Ferrara

31389365. sy475
If you’re looking for a sweet m/m ghost/human romance that’s slightly creepy and involves a mystery that needs to be solved: Search no more! This is your book! =) I really loved this one and the author did such a great job at combining the LGBTQ+ element with a spooky story. Rupert and Aaron are too precious and I loved their respectful relationship. Also this book has parents that actually care about their child’s wellbeing and are an active part of the story!! (which is pretty rare in YA) Also I never read a ghost story that made me cry, but that one… well keep your tissues at hand, that’s all I’ll say! ;-P

4.) The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

I just finished this and it was perfect! If you love dark fairy tales this is the right book for you! „The Language of Thorns“ features 6 short stories that all play in the Grishaverse and I enjoyed every single one of them. My favourites were „The Too-Clever Fox“ and „The Witch of Duva“ because they were especially dark and creepy! If you want to take a closer look at my full review you can do it here!

5.) The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White

Are you looking for a Frankenstein retelling? Great, because this is one, but it’s also so much more than that! 😉 The two MCs, Elizabeth and Victor were quite something and their relationship? Puh, how to put it into words? It was… destructive and noxious? *lol* But mostly it was really fascinating! I swear their dynamic was more than just intriguing! Mix it with gory details and add a few creepy scenes and you have the perfect spooky entertainment for Halloween! XD

6.) City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

40512862. sy475
This was my first Victoria Schwab book and I’ve become a huge fan ever since I read it! I just loved the atmosphere in this! Edinburgh sounded really interesting and I’m sure I’ll travel there one day! I mean just to see „Mary King’s Close“ would be awesome and since I’m such a history geek to explore the city would be fun! Anyway! Back on track! This is a middle grade book so the plot was pretty predictable, this however didn’t diminish my enjoyment. Cassidy and her best friend Jacob (who happens to be a ghost) were a really nice duo and I adored them and their friendship! ❤ I can’t wait to read the second book!

7.) Deadmarsh Fey by Melika Dannese Hick

39889091. sy475
Now that’s a book that kind of blew my mind! I swear the atmosphere of the old big house, the marsh around it, the fog that was seemingly omnipresent pushing against the windows of the house, the creepy fae that lurked at every corner! It was amazing! ❤ This is one of those super long books that’s very well-thought out and detailed! If you love books like that and are a fan of stories that stick to the original fey legends I’m convinced you’ll be a happy camper! 😀

8.) Krabat by Otfried Preussler

So this is a book from a German author I had to read when I went to school. And tell you what: It was one of the really good ones! I loved to read about Krabat’s apprenticeship and the dark atmosphere of the mill he works at was great. Strange things happen at night and the miller isn’t who he seems to be! „Krabat“ is mysterious, gloomy, haunting and yes, at times even kind of twisted. XD And it’s a real classic of German literature! What’s not to love?

9.) Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

853510. sy475
Want to get your mind into a knot?! Well, this one is the perfect pick! *lol* I had so much fun solving this puzzle and to collect all those breadcrumbs was quite an adventure! This was my first Agatha Christie but definitely not my last! 😉 I recently saw the movie on Netflix and I think they did a great job so I can totally recommend it if you want to follow up the book with a movie. 😉

10.) The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

I just finished this book at the weekend and this was… brilliant!!! I rarely read a debut that was as amazing as this one and if every book Turton writes is as good as „The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle“ I’ll become one of his most enthusiastic fans! I LOVED Blackheath and the countless clues and hints that were left througout the entire book! This was one hell of a puzzle and I almost… almost got it all right! *lol* This was a mystery that bent my mind like a pretzel and I regret NOTHING! ❤
So what about you? Did you read any of the books I recommended and if yes did you enjoy them? Are you a scaredy cat too? Do you have any Halloween recs for me? What are you up to this Halloween!? Do you have a costume?!

Talk to me and let me know! 😉

And as always: Stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Quotes That Influenced My Life

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is:  Favourite Book Quotes (these could be quotes from books you love, or bookish quotes in general)

This time around I decided to give today’s T10T topic a unique and personal spin and went for my top 10 „Favourite Quotes That Influenced My Life“. I believe that words have power and there are a lot of quotes I know by heart because they didn’t just resonate with me but also with the way I see the world.

So without further ado, let’s take a closer look at those quotes! =)

1.) „The greatest thing you’ll ever learn, Is just to love and be loved in return.“ – Eden Ahbez

I think a lot of people might know this quote from „Moulin Rouge“ or from David Bowie’s cover song. In fact it’s from a song named „Nature Boy“ that was written by Eden Ahbez who was an American composer. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I first heard it in „Moulin Rouge“ though. XD I love that movie like crazy because once you get over the first 20 minutes of craziness it’s actually a beautiful piece of art that teaches us about true love and how to hold it close to your heart. It’s as tragic as it’s wonderful and it will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤

2.) „Freely we serve,
Because we freely love, as in our will
To love or not; in this we stand or fall.“ – John Milton, Paradise Lost

Every day I go to work I think about this quote and what it means to me. I even have it next to my computer and I try to live by it whenever I „slip into my work shoes“. I believe that love is the force that moves the world and even if your life is shitty and everything goes wrong, you still have the love of your family and friends to pull you through. 🙂 (Hopeless romantic, I told you. *lol*)

3.) “The truth is rarely pure and never simple.” – Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest

For all of you who don’t know it already: I adore Oscar Wilde! ❤ He was a very wise man and a great writer. Plus he was gay (or bi, pan, …!?). Guess we’ll never know. Unfortunately at the time he lived it was seen as something unnatural and poor Oscar was convicted for „gross indecency“ that caused him to end up in jail for 2 years. The heavy labour was bad for his health and after his release he died at the young age of 46. 😦 In another time he would have been accepted. *sighs* Anyway, some of his quotes are still true! I’m a very honest person so the quote above speaks to me on a spiritual level and Oscar kind of nailed it, the truth is really never simple. 😉

4.) „Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.“ – Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was right! We should always raise our voices in order to speak up against injustice! If we stay silent, if we accept things the way they are, nothing will change and even worse we give power to the people that do us wrong! I know there’s the saying: „The wiser head gives in.“ but in some cases that only means that you do what the dumber head wants. You should always question things and never accept them right away. And most importantly you should always use your voice! =)

5.) „For whither thou goest, I will go;
and where thou lodgest, I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people,
and thy God my God.
Where thou diest, will I die;
and there I will be buried:
the Lord do so to me, and more also,
if aught but death part thee and me.“ – Ruth, 1: 16 – 17

I’m sure some of you might know this quote from Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter series. She used it as the parabatai oath, but what most people don’t know is that it’s actually from the bible. Ruth says those lines to her mother-in-law after both of their husbands died and they decide to live together without marrying new husbands. Their strong bond isn’t only #friendshipgoals but probably also the first mention of a strong friendship that can overcome all obstacles. About a year ago I made two identity tags and engraved the first line into them. My bestie and I wear them all the time, because our friendship is as strong as the one between Ruth and her mother-in-law. And of course we’re parabatai too. ;-P

6.) „The mothers always jump.“ – Suanne Laqueur, A Charm of Finches

This quote speaks so much to me and whenever I pick up my little one and comfort her I think about it. In the book one of the characters explains that he was on a ski trip when a kid fell from the platter lift and its mother jumped right after it. The guy who operated said lift told him that „The mothers always jump.“ The fathers continue and yell that they’ll meet their kids at the peak, but the mothers? Well, they jump. And boy, if that isn’t the bitter truth then I don’t know! I’d jump right after my kid without hesitation. It’s pure instinct and I think this quote nails it. XD

7.) „Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.“ – Dylan Thomas

„Do not go gentle into that good night“ always reminds me of my grandfather. He fought until the end and if there was one person I know, that didn’t go gentle into that good night then it’s definitely him. He fought for every year he could spend with us and even though his death was so hard to take I’m still glad that we were able to spend those years with him. ❤ I miss him like crazy but there’s comfort in knowing that he fought for us. =) And wow, this TTT topic is getting really personal. XD

8.) „My words are unerring tools of destruction, and I’ve come unequipped with the ability to disarm them.“ – Maggie Stiefvater, The Raven Boys

Top Ten Tuesday: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies (submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl)

I have way too many ideas so you’ll get my Top10 with 6 honourable mentions! *lol* Sorry, but there are a bunch of great book series I’d love to see on screen. DONE RIGHT, I may add! ;-P Everything they did with the Shadowhunters universe was such a disappointment! T_T So let’s hope those adaptions would be awesome! XD

Anyway, let’s start with the fun! *rubs hands*

1.) Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475
Now if that wouldn’t be the perfect book to make into a movie, I dunno! I’d love to see this rom-com on screen and I’d probably be swooning and laughing throughout the entire movie. *lol* The English/American gang was amazing and I’d love to see Alex’s mom and dad on screen! Also Henry… ahh I’d adore that precious cinnamon roll! ❤ Why is there no movie yet?! *lol*

2.) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

13519397There is no SJM fan who wouldn’t want to see this huge series of seven books on the screen! (Well, at least I don’t think there is. XD) This could be such an epic show and I’m sure it would be able to play in the league of „Game of Thrones“. The budget would have to be huge though because 7 books you could get clobbered over the head with would most definitely make for a lot of episodes. *lol*

3.) Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

32768522 I love Simon and Baz and I’d probably die if I’d see their story on screen but damn I’d be so willing to die that slow and blissful death! ❤ This series is so cute and fluffy and way more original than you might think for some sort of HP fanfiction. Also I’d be really curious how they’d implement the idea of „The Insidious Humdrum“. I’m sure that would be kind of a challenge. 😉

4.) Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

This was the first faerie series I was obsessed with and I would love to see it on Netflix! Irial, Niall, Seth, Leslie, Sorcha, gosh I love this series so much! I’m sure a lot of people would watch it (if it would be done right) and the fandom would grow! As it is „Wicked Lovely“ is probably one of the most underrated faerie series out there, which is sad, because Melissa Marr wrote this series long before „Throne of Glass“ and ACOTAR were even a thing! Marr is the godmother of cruel and cunning faeries and I love her so much for it! 😛

5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Okay, admittedly so far I’ve only read „Cinder“ and a short story but they were both great and I’d really love to see how they’d adapt it to the screen. The idea of fairy tales that have an original sci-fi and dystopian spin is just too good and I’d love to see the cast for Cinder, Iko, Levanna and Prince Kai! I think to write this now made me want to continue with the series. *lol* Guess it’s time to go for „Scarlett“ soon! XD

6.) Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

23395680. sy475

I can’t think of a book series that would be more suitable for being a Netflix show than this one! I swear the entire time I read those books I was like: Damn! This would be such a suspenseful movie!! Truth be told to read this actually felt like reading a movie so I’d love to see Netflix’s take on this series. Also I want to swoon over Kady, Ezra, Nick and especially AIDAN!!! *lol* ❤

7.) Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman

I just love everything about those books. The idea of a world in which no one has to die and the Scythedom regulates the population by randomly gleaning people is such an intriguing concept. Take all the other things that are part of this and you’ve the concept for an amazing dystopian series. Also the questions that are posed in each and every single book! Ahh! I’m sure if I’d see this only as a movie my mind would be as boggled as after watching „Inception“ for the very first time. *lol*

8.) Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud

This would be THE series to watch after Supernatural! XD Okay, it would be more middle grade and less X rated, but I’m sure it would be at least as scary. 😛 I wish this series would have existed when I was a kid because I would have loved it so much! Stroud’s world building is amazing and I’m convinced this would have even more fans as a Netflix series. 😉 I mean „Stranger Things“ does have a lot of fans too even though most of the MCs are kids. XD I’m sure this would work here too.

9.) Villains Series by V.E. Schwab

40874032. sy475

This just needs to be a movie/show!!! Period! I would love to see Victor and Eli on screen and ahh I’d probably die if they would manage to assemble a great cast! ❤ I swear just to see Victor Vale on TV would give me a heart-attack. I love him so much and I love that this series is all morally grey and that you don’t know if you hate or love the characters. *lol* Yes, „Villains“ definitely would make for a fast paced and intriguing Netflix show! I NEED it NOW!!!

10.) Gentleman Bastard by Scott Lynch

I love this series so much, especially because it’s so cleverly done. You have to keep your wits about you in that one and there are so many lies and deceptions that it’s not easy to identify them all. ;-P Also the world building!!! It’s marvellous! Just to see Locke and Jean in action would be enough for me! XD Those two are amazing and I’m honest here, I’d love to have a face for Locke. Since he’s a con man he fits in everywhere and is very conscious of his appearance so I always had difficulties to imagine him properly. *lol*

Honorable Mentions:

11.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Kvothe on TV? YES, PLEASE!!! I love my redhead and I’d be sooo down to see his journey as a Netflix show! Well, maybe one day Patrick Rothfuss will finally write the 3rd book and we’ll actually get a series! A boy can always dream, right? *lol*

12.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

All I’m saying is: WARNER!!! ❤ Ahh oh gods, if they’d cast him right I’d probably drool and swoon throughout the entire series! And yes, this would have to be a series because there are 6 main books and a lot of novellas. So lots of potential and a good storyline. Give me Warner and Kenji! Please?! XD

13.) The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I’ve loved this series so much and I’d die to see Adelina and Raffaele on screen! I was always so curious about how they’d look and if they’d make it real good this movie series could be amazing! Also I think we need more series with morally grey characters and this one, well, it would be perfect! 😉

14.) Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

Okay, I’d probably die a slow and painful death watching this show but I’d still love every second of it, because Fitz is one of my favourite fantasy characters ever and to see him suffer so much would be pure hell! Still, I love Fitz and the Fool and I’d be willing to accept the consequence of getting my heart ripped out as long as it’s done masterfully. ❤

15.) Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

Yes, I’m aware this is a controversial series but I’d still like to see it on screen. I mean obviously it’s not for a young audience but hey, lots of people watched „Game of Thrones“ and this even though it was cruel and brutal and had slaves in it. So I guess there would be a market for this one as well. Especially because from book two on this is one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read and it’s AWEsome!!! ❤

16.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

As far as I know there IS going to be a series, but I have no idea when it will come out and if it will be available for me. XD I would watch the hell out of this because as you all know TRC is one of my favourite book series ever and yes, I’m honest here, if the cast wouldn’t be okay I’d be devastated. *lol* So they better make an effort to keep to the books!!! Or – and I’m aware I’m repeating myself here because I feel so strongly about all those books and series I just mentioned – I might actually die! No pressure, right?! ;-P

17.) I wish I could say „The Shadowhunter World“ here but urgh, they made a movie and it sucked, they made a series and it sucked and by now I gave up hope that they’ll ever do it justice! >_< Apparently some things just aren’t meant to be on screen. *sighs*

So what do you think?! Are there any books/series you’d love to see on Netflix? Do you agree with my choices? Did I miss a book you’d love to see adapted? What’s your take on books being adapted into Netflix shows or movies? Yay or nay? And if „nay“ why?!

Talk to me and let me know! ;-P

And as always: Stay healthy and safe!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Make Me Smile

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books That Make Me Smile (For any reason! Maybe tell us why? Submitted by Julia @ pagesforthoughts)

1.) Carry On – Rainbow Rowell

I cuddle this book when I sleep!! *lol* So it should be no surprise that it makes me smile! ❤ But seriously, Baz and Simon are everything and they are so fluffy and cute I can’t help but smile whenever I see this book at the library or at the book store. Just to know this exists and other people might read it makes me already so happy. (Yes, if you haven’t figured it out by now I’m Snowbaz trash and I’m not ashamed of it! *lol* 😛 )

2.) Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli

This book was so much fun and since Simon is probably the most relatable character ever I love it with all my heart! Plus all the HP references and the dialogues and the friendship/family dynamics, Simon and Blue’s e-mails?! Simon being such an adorable nerd! I smile just thinking of it! ❤

3.) An Exaltation of Larks – Suanne Laqueur

32504400. sy475

I’ll never get tired of telling you how awesome this book is!!! The banter and the conversations are perfection, the characters are multilayered and amazing! The story is … I really have no words to describe my love for this! My heart is so full whenever I think about „An Exaltation of Larks“ and I didn’t even finish it yet! I feel as much love for this as I feel for „The Raven Boys“ and you all know how deeply and unconditionally I love them! My heart aches when I smile – It’s THAT kind of smile!

4.) Percy Jackson and basically every Uncle Rick book!

The mere thought of Uncle Rick is already enough to make me smile. XD His books are always funny and I love his humour and sarcasm. No matter which kind of series he writes they are always a nice adventure and his books never cease to amaze me. Plus they make me smile A LOT! I just love Uncle Rick’s characters. 😀

5.) Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling

This is the slow sort of smile that involuntarily tugs at the corners of your lips whenever you think about your childhood. I was the generation that grew up with HP and I read the first book when I was eleven. When I was 19 the last one came out so you might as well say that HP was my childhood and you wouldn’t be wrong with that. This series is like an old friend I’m always glad to see again and just like I do with friends I always give it a radiant smile. 😉

6.) The Raven Boys – Maggie Stiefvater

17675462. sy475

Those boys are my bookish family and I’d die for them! ❤ My love for this series is not from this world and I’m hopelessly, madly and deeply in love with all of those characters. Whenever I sit on my chaise longue and look at my book shelf my gaze comes to a rest on „The Raven Boys“ and I smile. I’ll never stop loving those boys. NEVER!!!

7.) The Song of Achilles – Madeline Miller

If we’re already at describing smiles this one is the kind of sad smile that quirks your lips while tears are steaming down your face. This book broke me in the best way possible and even after finishing it two years ago I still feel raw whenever I think about it. To see it in the shelves of my library gives me an odd sense of happiness and I guess I’ll always feel melancholic when I see it. Such a beautiful book! T_T

8.) Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475

Okay, RWRB made me laugh so hard it’s impossible not to list it here! Whenever I look at it I remember the „turkey scene“ and it has me laughing once again. *lol* This book was so refreshing and funny and I just lived and breathed for the family and friendship dynamics. Also RWRB gave me hope! I wish everyone would be as open-minded as the characters in here and I’d so help to support Alex’s mum! ❤ She was amazing! They all were.

9.) The Little Witch – Otfried Preußler

This smile comes with childhood memories! =) I remember asking my grandma and mum to read this to me because I really loved „The Little Witch“. This story was just too cute and the little witch was kinda relatable. XD I think I really need to reread this with my child. ❤

10.) Clockwork Angel – Cassandra Clare

7171637. sy475

I just love this series! And basically every single one of Cassandra Clare’s books. They feel like home and I adore the characters so much. Especially the three MCs of this series. Jem, Will and Tessa will always make me smile and I love how much they love each other. This is a love triangle done right and ahh the feels! XD Those three love each other deeply and it’s so beautiful it makes me smile. 😀

Which books make you smile?  Do we have some in common? Do you also think that there are different kinds of smiles and that not all of them are happy? What were or would have been your book choices?

Talk to me and let me know! 😉

Top Ten Tuesday Turns 10! Which book characters would you be best friends with?

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Top Ten Tuesday Turns 10! Option 1: pick a past TTT topic you’ve done and re-do/update it (Perhaps you’d remove certain books you put on the list back when you first wrote it, or perhaps you have 10 MORE books you’d add to that list now. You could also re-visit TBR posts, whether seasonal or series you need to finish, etc., and tell us if you’ve read them yet or not. Any variation of this idea works. Feel free to be creative.) Option 2: pick a past TTT topic you wish you’d done, but didn’t get a chance to do (the list of topics is below).

Since I just started with TTT I decided to choose Option 2 and picked the following topic:

Which book characters would you be best friends with?

Top Ten Tuesday Link-up – Book Characters I’d Love to Be Besties With

1.) Nikolai Lantsov & Nina Zenik from „King of Scars“ by Leigh Bardugo

36307634. sy475
Seriously, who wouldn’t want to be friends with those two? Nikolai is so extra and I love him for it! I think we’d get along splendidly and I’m prett sure we’d be famous for our one-liners. 😛 *lol* And Nina Zenik! Let’s be honest here: This girl could step on me and I’d be thankful for the physical contact. XD I’d love to be Nina’s waffle partner in crime! ❤

2.) Simon Spiers from „Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda“ by Becky Albertalli

Simon is such a precious cinnamon roll and I’m convinced if he’d be real, we’d be besties. We have a lot in common and I think we’d be something like twins without actually being twins. *lol* Of all the book characters I encountered through the years, he was the most relatable one and I’d love to geek out about Harry Potter! We could make movie nights with popcorn and talk about thousands of things. In short: Forget about Leah, Simon! Take me as your bestie!!! *lol*

3.) Mia Corvere & Mr. Kindly from „Nevernight“ by Jay Kristoff

34503674. sy475 Who wouldn’t want to be friends with an assassin and her not-cat? I’m sure life with Mia and Mr. Kindly would never get boring. Also she always got her friends back. They are both super loyal and would defend the ones they love with claws and teeth. It’s really hard to find friends like that and if you do, you should value them like a treasure trove.  ❤

4.) Lucien Vanserra & basically everyone from the inner circle from „ACOTAR“ by Sarah J. Maas (but mostly Lucien)

16096824. sy475

It’s no secret that I love and adore Lucien and of course there are plenty of reasons for my unfaltering and undying affection. One of them the simple fact that he’s such a great friend! And I mean it! The inner circle, Feyre and Rhys they all speak about what they’d do for the people they love, but they rarely act on it. Of course they ocassionaly do it but Lucien? Lucien is always action and passion! His eye got ripped out because of his loyalty to Tam, he was whipped because he helped Feyre in the trials, hell he even kind of sold his body when Tam couldn’t do the solstice ritual. And despite all of this he’d still do everything possible to help his friends. (See Tam in ACOFAS) So yes, if I ever have to face an evil fae king or queen he’s really the only one I’d want to have at my side. XD

5.) Tohru Honda from „Fruits Basket“ by Natsuki Takaya

271199. sx318 I love Tohru!!! This girl is amazing! No matter how tough her own life is, she always cares about everyone else. She’s the most caring and precious person I know and her love for her friends is unconditional. Tohru will go through thick and thin with you and accept you for who you are! With a friend like her you’ll never feel alone and quite honestly she’s my role model when it comes to friendships. I strive to be like Tohru when I’m grown-up. *lol*

6.) The Gangsey from „The Raven Cycle“ by Maggie Stiefvater

17675462. sy475 Did you really think I could pick just one of them? *lol* No, nopedy nope! I want to be a part of the Gangsey and I want to be friends with all of those lovely people! Even Henry (I love Henry) and Blue! XD They are all so amazing and I’d die for each and every single one of them. Yes, they are fictional but hell, I’d love to have them as my friends!!! ❤ Or to say it with a quote: „In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.“

7.) Niall, Seth and Irial from „Wicked Lovely“ by Melissa Marr

305234 I just love all of them, okay?! XD Seth is such an easy laid back kind of guy and Niall is his best friend and they are just great together. 😀 I’d love to spend some time with them and of course I’d love to be friends with Irial!!! ❤ Yes, he has some sharp edges but boy when you look past his cruelty you’re able to see his precious and soft heart. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the ones he cares about and he’s awesome. Period. *lol*

8.) Kenji Kishimoto from „Shatter Me“ by Tahereh Mafi

40863452 I love Kenji’s humor and everyone who is allowed to be his friend is blessed!! That boy is made of awesome sauce and no one can persuade me otherwise. I love how he seems to be the glue who keeps everyone together and I’d be happy to talk about Bruce Lee with him! *lol* He’s always supportive and this even though he might not agree with you and even though he’s funny he can still be serious if need be. What’s not to love?

9.) Jem Carstairs & Magnus Bane from „The Infernal Devices“ by Cassandra Clare

7171637. sy475 Jem is such a precious soul and I’ll never get over his fate! I love that he’s a musician and I’m sure we’d get along fine just talking about music. He’s very wise for his age too and I’d love to talk about god and the world with him. XD Tessa’s and his conversations were always so intriguing and even though he’s calm most of the times he can be really passionate too! ❤ As for Magnus: I need that funny and sparkling jewel in my life!!! Magnus and I would hit it off with each other in no time and our lives would never get boring. We could be a walking and talking chaos together and even though a few drinks too many might get us a raised eyebrow from Alec we’d still continue giggling. *lol*

10.) Harry Dresden from „The Dresden Files“ by Jim Butcher

47212. sy475 Harry is so much fun! Like seriously, I love his self-deprecating humour and he might have few friends but those few he actually has he values highly! He’s once again a character with a lot of rough edges but what can I say? I love myself some rough edges. 😛 They keep things and in this case friendships interesting. XD I’d love to be one of Harry’s few trusted friends even though I already know that it would get me in trouble big time. But you know what they say: No risk, no fun! 😛

What do you think? Would you like to be best friends with some of the characters I chose too? Do we have some in common? And are there any book characters you’d never want to be friends with?

Talk to me and let me know! 😛
