Library Hopping & A Huge Book Haul

Hey there, my lovelies! 🙂

As you all know (and you’re probably tired of me complaining about it. *lol*) my library is still partly closed and after 1 1/2 months in which I couldn’t access my precious English section they apparently decided that they’d close the entire library until the 10th of August. >_<

I hate to say it, but „Oh woe is me?“ XD

Luckily, I have an awesome bestie and we both decided it’s about time to go take a closer look at other libraries. I mean we’re talking about Vienna here, it’s not like we wouldn’t have a huge variety. 😉

So in the end we started at one and then took it from there and I swear, I’m in awe of the Viennese libraries now. *lol* It’s amazing what you stumble across when you leave your favourite haunt and decide to take another route  path! I was surprised to find out that they have so many newly published books and even more surprised that they weren’t borrowed. Haha! Which in all honesty, was pretty awesome for me.

All things considered we made it to three different libraries and by the end of our hopping I had 10 books in my backpack and was a smiling and happy camper! *lol* Some might even say I looked like the cat that ate the canary. 😛

I swear, I never borrowed that many books from the library at the same time but damn it was worth it. Plus I even found „Interview with the Vampire“ which is actually on My Book List 2019! I’ve been looking for that one for ages and was astonished to find it in one of their branches. 😀

At one of the libraries one of their employees even started to chat with us and seemed to be really intrigued by our library hopping. Apparently this was an actual thing a few years ago, but now no one is doing it anymore. I think we kinda made his day because he was very sweet and even recommended some other libraries that have huge English sections as well. XD

So all told yesterday was a huge success! My back might hurt but look at this wonderful book haul, it’s a sight to behold:

Now I just need to read them all! *LOL*

Wish me luck guys! Something (and the library deadline) tells me that I’ll need it! 😛

Did you read any of those already and if „yes“ did you like them? Tell me and let me know!

A Saturday afternoon out – Of Sushi, Heat and Rainbows

Hey there, my lovelies!

I spent last Saturday in Vienna and since I had such an awesome day I decided to share it with you. I know I didn’t write an awful lot in my “Viennese Strolls” category lately, but that was mostly due to my busy life. It has a tendency to get in my way and I’m sorry if I neglected this category. I promise improvement and I’m starting with it now. 😉

So what did I do last Saturday?

Well, my closest friend and I went to eat Running Sushi at the Lugner City and it was amazing! If you want to go for Running Sushi in Vienna this is actually the best place to be! They don’t only have sushi but also avocado maki and a lot of different warm dishes. You’ll find calamari and shrimps as well as potato croquettes, salad, duck, noodles, rice and sweet desserts like Tiramisu and coconut milk. In short: They have a huge variety and I can totally recommend them!

Plus: If you hit the restaurant before 5 p.m you still pay the lunch price! 😉

I don’t know how much time we spent there but after we were full and happy we decided that it was about time to hit the main library of Vienna! Unfortunately and to our great chagrin it’s partly closed right now. T_T As it seems they are currently renovating the floors and their furniture which means I won’t be able to get into my precious English section until the end of July! I don’t know what I’m going to do now that I can’t pre-order my English books anymore, but I’m sure it will be a tough time for me. I mean… I might actually… I might actually have to read the books I own!!! *facepalm, insert Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” here*

So yeah, after that big shock we resolved that we needed to eat ice cream! There’s nothing, really nothing, a huge ice cream can’t fix! 😛

No sooner said, than done, we took the subway to the “Stephansplatz” and went to our favourite ice cream parlor. It’s on the way to the “Schwedenplatz” and so it happened that we didn’t only buy ice cream but also ended up eating it in the middle of the Rainbow Parade that just happened to pass us as we made our way to another subway station.

Do I even have to mention that we became a part of the parade and waved our rainbow flags? *lol*

Nope? Well, I just did, didn’t I? XD Anyway, it was awesome and so much fun! I always wanted to go to the Rainbow Parade but I never dared to do it because I didn’t want to go there alone. This time however it worked out because it was a rather spontaneous decision and my friend was with me. 😀

I can’t even put into words how much it meant to me to just be there and to celebrate with all those kindred spirits. According to the media it were about 500.000 people that took part in the parade and they were all so nice and cheerful! I even saw a grandma in a wheelchair that had a rainbow flag drawing on her cheek! ❤ Which was very kick-ass and damn cool! XD

Despite the hot temperatures we still had a very good time and I really wouldn’t want to miss this experience! I think it was about 6:00 p.m. when the parade ended and we decided to sit down somewhere because our feet couldn’t carry us any longer. Guess all the dancing and the heat took its toll after all. *lol*

If we would have had a little more energy and more time we probably would have explored the first district even more, but in the end we just took a little walk through some of the rather unknown alleys and enjoyed the warm summer night. I swear Vienna actually has some sort of Italian flair, you just have to know where to look for it. 😛

Anyway! How was your Saturday? Do you like Running Sushi as well? Did you ever go to a rainbow parade and was it as awesome as the one I attended? Is your library closed as well and how do you cope with it?

Tell me and let me know! 😉

Secret Fox Messages

I think it’s finally time to confess something and all the library visitors who borrow books from the Viennese libraries might be surprised now. *lol* I thought it was about time to write it down here though, so here I am, making my “confession”. ;-P

A while ago my library friend and I were sitting at a food court in Vienna and spoke about how funny it is to borrow books from a library because you never know what’s inside of them. Sometimes people forget their bookmark, sometimes they use postcards to mark a certain page and sometimes they just leave their entire list of borrowed books in it… I’m sure you get the idea. So we had a discussion about this and how it’s always interesting to stumble across stuff like that. You just can’t help but wonder who it belonged to and if they are missing their things. XD

It’s always nice to see the traces of fellow bookworms though and a few of those left items actually made us smile. So I came up with a crazy idea. What if I’d leave a little message in at least one of the books I borrowed before I return it to the library? What if I’d just write a little sentence that would make someone smile when she/he stumbles across it? You know, make their reading and their day a little brighter with an unexpected note. =)

Well, I guess by now you all know me well enough to be certain that I actually decided to do this. *lol* So yes, every time I bring back the books I borrowed, I make sure to write at least one bookish quote on a colourful piece of paper (don’t worry, I’d never actually write into the book!!!) and place it between the pages of one of the books.

I don’t know if anyone already found them, I have no idea if it made them smile like I hoped it would or if they wondered who this crazy person was leaving them a note. *lol* But I like to think that it caused them to smile. XD I’ll continue to leave my notes and maybe, just maybe, one day someone will read this here and know it was me who wrote this and will actually smile! You can always hope, right? XD

So, that’s my confession! ;-P If you ever borrow a book from one of the public libraries in Vienna and you find a note with a book quote, “Happy Reading!” and the initials T.S.L.F. you’ll know it was me. *lol*

With this in mind: Happy Reading! ;-P

And just in case I don’t manage to write another blog post before Christmas (after all it’s a busy time with a little child XD) I also want to use this post to wish you all a Merry Christmas!! I hope you spend a wonderful time with your loved ones and get lots of bookish presents! 😀

Take care, my lovelies!!!  ❤ ❤ ❤

Movie Review – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

I’m just 1 ½ weeks late with this movie review, but never mind! *lol* Seems like I’m already feeling the spirit of Christmas! Which is to say that I’m feeling the stress of the entire year packed into a four weeks countdown that reaches its height on the 31st of December.  I really don’t know about you ,but I’m still searching for that silent and contemplative time of the year, if I ever find it I’ll let you know! Scout’s honour! ;-P

Okay, moving on! XD Let’s get back to “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”! I really liked the movie, considering that I enjoyed all the other HP movies this probably doesn’t mean an awful lot though. Still, this second movie stepped it up a notch from the first one. Don’t get me wrong I loved the first movie and it was really awesome and sweet with all the fantastic beasts, but “The Crimes of Grindelwald” was so much darker and certainly even more intriguing.

For instance dear Nagini made an appearance and I wasn’t only surprised but also delighted to see her in this movie! I was always fascinated by Voldemort’s pet and boy, I’m probably even more fascinated now. I really wonder how old Voldy and she met and I hope to get an answer in one of the next movies. And don’t tell me there aren’t going to be even more, because I’m 99,9% sure that there will be at least a third “Fantastic Beasts” movie! 😉

Also can we take a second to appreciate Grindelwald’s manipulative and oh so very cunning nature?! That man knows how to work a crowd and damn did he make his point!! Whilst most of Voldemort’s Death Eaters are driven and motivated by fear Gindelwald’s talents lie in his eloquence and a rather uncanny talent to twist his opponents’ words. I swear, my inner faerie had a field day listening to his speech. *lol*

But enough of me and back to Grindelwald’s biggest adversary: Dumbledore! I think Jude Law played him really well and I liked that you got a glimpse of the Dumbledore he’s going to be when he’s older. I mean the defiance and cheekiness were still visible in the older Dumbledore and apparently those are traits he already had in his younger years. XD After THAT kind of ending I’m really curious about how things are going to play out in future though. I guess now all bets are off! *lol*

Anything else I want to add?

Oh yes, I love Newt Scamander because he is a PRECIOUS BEAN and needs to be protected at all costs!!! <333

What about you? Did you already see the movie and if yes what did you think?! Did you like it, hate it, wanted to eat Bertie Botts Beans and drink butter beer? Tell me! 😉

Movie Review – A Star Is Born

Did any of you see “A Star is Born”?

Because I was at the movies yesterday and I absolutely love this film now!!! It was so damn good I can’t even! <333

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga had such an amazing chemistry and to watch them on stage together was so moving! XD The music is just perfect and I had goose bumps so often it felt like I was shivering throughout the entire film.
(I’m glad I wasn’t the only one because my friend seemed to feel exactly the same way. *lol*)

Gosh, this movie was so perfect for people that live and breathe music. I loved every second of it and I felt so much with Jackson! I’m a musician myself and I have the same troubles he had in the movie. From the tinnitus in my ear right to having only about 60% hearing in the other one. I truly felt his struggle and I knew exactly what he meant with needing to play clear.

Well, anyway if you haven’t watched the movie yet you definitely should do it sooner or later! It’s a must for everyone who’s married to music and appreciates an amazing soundtrack. =)
Those two can sing! Oh boy, how they can sing! The ending though! >_<

I rarely buy DVDs these days but I already know that I’ll make an exception for this movie. I’m sure I’ll watch it about a thousand times. XD

Favourite songs:
Shallow – Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper
Always Remember Us This Way – Lady Gaga
Maybe It’s Time – Bradley Cooper

Viennese Strolls

Good morning lovelies! =)

Today is one of those days I’ll not only head to Vienna but also will bring back the thousands of books I borrowed from the library. (Okay, it are just six but that still counts, right? ;-P )

I don’t know about you but whenever I AM at the library I get the mentality of a greedy squirrel and just want to take everything with me. Plus today is the library’s annual flea market and this Lady here has no control! >_< At least not when it comes to books. *lol*

So I guess this is going to be a busy day. Wish me luck because I doubt I can carry my own weight in books, but I already know that I’ll give it a try. XD

Have a nice Saturday and a good start into the weekend! =)
