Top Ten Tuesday: Titles That Would Make Good Band Names

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Hey there, my lovelies!

I’ve seen this about a thousand times on other bloggers sites and decided that I’d give it a shot. I usually don’t post on Tuesdays but I think I’ll make an exception for this one. So from now on I’ll do one of those „Top Ten Tuesday“ posts every month. 😉

It’s a small start but it’s a start and I hope my blog will get a little bit more interesting once again!

This said, let’s jump right into the fun! XD

„10 Titles That Would Make Good Band Names“ (It’s like I’ve been waiting for a topic like this to come up! I love music and this is so perfect for my TTT start!)

White Hot Kiss

This series was so addicting and I always thought that this first book sounded like a band name! *lol* I mean „White Hot Kiss“ you can already imagine the rock music just reading the title. 😛

Radiant Shadows

Okay, this is already book four in Melissa Marr’s „Wicked Lovely“ series but you’ve to admit that the title is amazing! As is the entire series! If you love faeries and a slightly darker atmosphere in your books, well then this one’s for you! It was the first series that got me into faeries and I can’t get enough of them ever since. I think a band named „Radiant Shadows“ might go for rock, alternative or indie music, don’t you agree? Maybe something like „Imagine Dragons“?

The Raven Boys

Don’t tell me you didn’t see that one coming! *lol* Seriously, how could I not choose „The Raven Boy’s“ for this TTT! They are perfect! Not only the name of the book but they are four boys and they are all different but like a family! If they would be a band every girl would find a type they’d like. Like Gansey would be the handsome girl crush, Ronan the bad boy, Adam the clever rebel and Noah the shy baby. Haha! Ahh you can already tell I gave way too much thought to this. XD Anyway, they’d obviously be a pop band or a band like BTS! *lol*

The Fault In Our Stars

One of my favourite John Green books and definitely a good name for a band. If you ask me they’d either make super slow music like Damien Rice or they’d go for something like „Panic! At The Disco“. XD And yep, their fans would shorten the band name and say: „OMG the TFIOS concert last night was amazing!“ 😉

The Subtle Knife

Gosh, I loved this series when I was in my teens! It was something different and new and I really, really loved to watch the characters grow. 😀 As for the kind of music „The Subtle Knife“ would make: Something very atmospheric along the lines of „Florence and the Machine“ or „Ruelle“?!

Empire of Storms

Is it just me or does this title actually scream for metal, hard-rock or screamo? *lool* I mean even the cover! XD I could imagine a band with a title playing this kind of music so well and with all the fighting scenes I’m sure the crew of EoS would approve! 😛

Lord of Shadows

30312891. sy475

Now that sounds kind of dark and sinister! Totally hard rock or heavy metal! Funnily enough it could either go all „Lordi“ or „Iron Maiden“. I think my mind just can’t decide. To be honest, the plot of the book wouldn’t be heavy metal though. XD Cassandra Clare probably would go all like O_o when she reads this. Haha!

This already sounds rather soothing and slow so I’m pretty sure „Wintersong“ would make music like Lana Del Rey or Imogen Heap. Since Liesl and the Goblin King like to play the piano I could also imagine something like Ludovico Einaudi’s music. And if you have no idea who that is you should definitely youtube (is that even a word??) him! He composes some of the most beautiful piano pieces ever! ❤

Flame in the Mist

For some reason I can’t stop thinking of 2Cellos. „Flame in the Mist“ sounds like it would combine classic instruments with modern songs, but then again I can also imagine music like „Passenger“ makes it. Mhmm… that’s a tough one. I suppose a band with a name like that could try a lot of different styles. 😛

Annie on My Mind

Okay, so this is an LGBTQ+ book with an f/f relationship so you can’t blame me for thinking about „Tegan and Sara“ or „Hozier“ when I wonder about which kind of music this band would make! XD But honestly, they both make slow and beautiful music and this book was very slow and beautiful too so this would fit the overall mood perfectly!

What do you think? Did you like the book titles I chose? Did you read any of the books I mentioned? Do you like the kind of music I matched them to? Do you disagree with my music/band choices? What kind of book titles and bands would you have chosen?

Talk to me and let me know! 😛

Explain & Gain

Explain & Gain

Hey there my lovelies!

I’m sure the first question your’re asking yourself now is: „What’s this?“

Well, the answer is pretty simple: This is my new category „Explain & Gain“ in which I’ll try to explain some things I came across while being on wordpress. In other words I’ll try to explain something and hopefully you’ll gain knowledge from it! At least that’s the theory, I guess we’ll see how well it will work in practice. 😛

Still, confused? Okay, let’s use a practical example so it’s easier to follow my weirdness. 😉

Step 1: The problem

Okay here I go: Recently I was tagged by many of my awesome fellow bloggers (thanks a lot btw!! ❤ ) but unfortunately I never got a notification and therefore only found out about being tagged when 1.) I read their blog post, 2.) by chance (which is basically the same as no.1 😛 ) and 3.) … Well, I think I don’t even want to know how many people tagged me and I never found out. *lol*

Step 2: So why the heck didn’t it work?

To tag people in your blog posts might not work for various reasons. Experience taught me that’s mostly one of those two though: Either you’ve only  mentioned their name without a link or what happens more often: You linked to their main wordpress page. Yes, you read right. You linked to their homepage. You’d think that would be sufficient enough but nuh uh! WordPress has a completely different logic when it comes to that. Which leads me directly to the next step!

Step 3: How to tag a person in your blog post (so that they actually get a notification)?

This is pretty easy and I’m sure most of you will smack their forehead and say: Gosh!! (or you might use other words but it will still have the same outcome. 😉 ) Okay, are you ready to be enlightend?

You’ve to link to one of their blog posts!

Yes, it’s that simple! 😛 It’s called a „Pingback“ and looks like that:

And just in case you never tried to put a link into one of your blog posts a step by step explanation for you:

1.) Find the link symbol and click on it: Link symbol.jpg

2.) Copy and use the url of a blog post the person you want to link to wrote. The easiest way is to use one of their most recent blog posts. 😉

url linkback.jpg

Write their name or the name of their blog (or both) in the „Link-Text“ and if you want to make sure that their page opens when you click on it, you also tick that little field saying „open link in a new window / open tab“ (It’s in German in the picture because yeah, I speak German, but I’m sure you get the idea! *lol*)

And then you just press on the little pink field below saying „add link“!

3.) Congrats! You just successfully pinged back to another blogger’s page and tagged them! XD

So that’s it! Wasn’t that hard, right? 😛

I might do more of those „Explain & Gain“ posts whenever I notice something that could be usueful knowledge for other bloggers. Was this helpful? Did you already know how to pingback to another blogger’s page? Is there another blogging mystery I might be able to help you with?
