Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To (Submitted by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse)

I know I’m one week late with this T10T topic but last week my hubby tested positive and had to go into quarantine so our life was a little bit chaotic and totally upside down. XD To be confined at home during easter sucked. Yep… And with this said, let’s finally do this!

1.) Brandon Sanderson

21462006

I still haven’t read my first Brandon Sanderson book. I mean technically I started with „The Final Empire“ but I’m only about 10% in and can’t really say a lot about it yet. So yeah, for me Brandon Sanderson is still an author I haven’t read, but want to. 😉 (and am reading now?! *lol*)

2.) T.J. Klune

45047384. sy475

I swear, I so need to start reading TJ Klune’s books because everyone and their grandma is raving about them and they must be really good if so many people like them. I want to know if the hype is real and I’ll definitely read my first Klune book this year. Maybe it will even be „The House in the Cerulean Sea“. I’ve been dying to read that one for ages. XD

3.) Morgan Rhodes

12954620

This book and the entire series has been on my TBR AND on my book shelves for ages and I really need to get to it. I heard so many great things about this series and I also heard that you either love it or hate it. Since it was highly recommended to me by two people that know my taste in books because our reading tastes are similar I’m pretty sure I’ll love this. =)

4.) Lev Grossman

6101718

Another series that has been on my shelves for a very long time. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll like it or not, but I guess it’s about time to find out. The tv series was very intriguing so I’m hoping that the books will be good too. I guess the only way to find out if the author is for me or not is by reading the books, right?

5.) Anthony Doerr

18143977

I’m so going to read this book soon! Anthony Doerr has been on my radar for ages and „All The Light We Cannot See“ is definitely going to be the first book I’ll read that was written by him. By now I even placed it on my April TBR so I’ll hopefully get to it soon.

6.) Becky Chambers

25201920. sy475

Honestly, this series has been all over my Goodreads feed and so many people seem to read it. I’m very intrigued by the premise of the book and I’m also very curious about the author’s writing style. This seems to be a well-beloved series as well so I can’t wait to dive into it.

7.) Steven Salvatore

59541874. sy475

I think this book only got out in March and the author is a very new author. Their other book is „Can’t Take That Away“ and it was their debut which I also want to read and which is still on my TBR. *lol* So yeah, I haven’t read any of their books but I really want to get to them because they all sound so good! XD

8.) Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

This is another case of „I haven’t read any of the author’s books so far but I’m currently 10% into „Spinning Silver“. *lol* I think Naomi Novik is also one of those authors everyone knows and has read at least one book of. Well, not me! 10% baby! Haha! Anyway! I’ll finish this book sooner or later and then I can finally say I have read one of the author’s books. 😉

9.) Xiran Jay Zhao

57876191. sy475

So this author has been all over BookTube lately and everyone says you should read „Iron Widow“ because it’s so good. For a debut that’s actually quite something and I can’t wait to get a copy of this into my greedy hands. *lol* I’m looking forward to read about the strong female MC and apparently there’s even an LGBTQ+ element?! I’m ready!

10.) Emery Lee

59336008. sy475

This is legit one of my most anticipated reads for 2022, because what’s not to love?! An m/m enemies-to-lovers trope with lots of food?! Sign me up! I can’t wait to read this and if I liked it I might pick up the author’s other book as well. 😉 Wish me luck that this is going to be the foodie romance I craved for! XD

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which authors haven’t you read but really want to get to? Do we have some in common and if yes, which ones? Did you read any of the books on my list and did you enjoy them? Are there any well-beloved authors you still haven’t read and if yes why?! And are you a fan of debut books too?! (I love it, there’s nothing better than to discover a new amazing author!)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Spring 2022 TBR

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books On My Spring 2022 TBR

1.) Pet – Akwaeke Emezi

43568395

I have absolutely no idea what this book is about but it made it on my March TBR because apparently it has a LGBTQ+ rep and a lot of my favourite bloggers loved it. =) I’m always ready to find new and interesting books and the blurb sounds very mysterious so here I am.

2.) The Silvered Serpents – Roshani Chokshi

52796733. sy475

I’ve been dying to read „The Silvered Serpents“ after I finished „The Gilded Wolves“ and even went as far as to make a NetGalley account in order to request an ARC. Unfortunately my request was denied and I was very heartbroken about it. After about two years I finally bought the book though and I’m so ready to dive into it! My precious babies are waiting for me! ❤

3.) Blue Flag – Kaito

51086632. sx318 sy475

This sounds super interesting and I can’t remember the last time I ever read a LGBTQAI+ manga! I mean apparently there is a love quadrangle and probably some m/f, f/f and m/m action in here?! Honestly, I don’t need more than that! I’m sure I’ll love this! =)

4.) Almond – Won-pyung Sohn

55338962

I started to read this for my #Koreadathon participation and I’m really enjoying it. Katja – one of my favourite BookTubers – and I decided to read this for the „read a book recommended by a Korean celebrity“ prompt, because RM as well as SUGA from BTS read this in their show „In the Soop“! I’m halfway into the book right now and it’s very good so far.

5.) Spinning Silver – Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

I’ve heard people rave about this book for ages and got curious enough to finally pick it up! *lol* Also this is a Rumpelstiltskin retelling and I love my Rumpelstiltskin! XD I only managed to read about 10% so far, but the little I read has me intrigued and I can’t wait to see where this story will head.

6.) The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson

21462006

And here comes another beloved series! Everyone is talking about Brandon Sanderson and after four years of people constantly raving about him I finally decided to give his books a try. I mean this is high fantasy so it will probably take a while to get used to the world building. It’s been ages I fell for a fantasy world though so I’m kinda ready to be swept off my feet! Brando Sando do your worst! 😉

7.) Children of Virtue and Vengeance – Tomi Adeyemi

40106539. sy475

I think I read „Children of Blood and Bone“ about two years ago and enjoyed it. There were some weaknesses but the story was still interesting enough for me to want to know how it continues. Plus I want to know if my ship will sail. XD I doubt it, but oh well, you can always hope right?

8.) Sorcery of Thorns – Margaret Rogerson

43279080. sy475

I only just started with this book but I’m already finished! Yeah, I read this like nobody’s business and I regret NOTHING! Oh, well, okay there is something I regret: That there is no second book!!! Like seriously!!?? How can this be a standalone!? Why is there no book two?? I loved absolutely everything about this book and I need more! Forever heartbroken that this isn’t a series! T_T

9.) The Fever King – Victoria Lee

39897058

This book has been on my TBR for ages and I finally preordered it at my library! Magic, two boys that are rivals but fall for each other, high stakes, a tragic background story and a viral magic outbreak? Do I even need to say more? This sounds like it will be right up my alley and I can’t wait to dive into it once it arrives! =)

10.) Empire of the Vampire – Jay Kristoff

43728380. sy475

I wanted to read this ever since I first read Jay Kristoff’s review about it. *lol* Jay definitely has a way with words and everything he spoke about in his review screamed „READ ME“! XD Also am I the only one who loves the fact that the title rhymes? I mean „Empire of the Vampire“! The title alone is brilliant. Not to mention the amazing cover art! AHHH! I’m so going for this one in spring! ❤

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books do you want to read in spring? Do we have some in common and if yes, which ones? Did you read any of the books on my list and did you enjoy them? Are you taking part in some of the many amazing readathons out there? Did you know that the #Koreadathon exists and did you ever take part in one?

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday:  Books Too Good to Review Properly

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: :  Books Too Good to Review Properly (I have no words!) (Submitted by Dedra @ A Book Wanderer) Okay, I probably should say that I always review the books I read, sometimes it’s just super difficult. >_<

1.) „Kingdom of Ash“ by Sarah J. Maas

39340341. sy475

It took me an entire year to finally sort my thoughts and to write my review of „Kingdom of Ash“. Which is probably the longest it ever took me to write a proper review about a book. *lol* Yes, I was THAT blown away by the ending. I couldn’t cope for months. Haha! That’s what happens when your favourite series ends. T_T

2.) „Sadie“ by Courtney Summers

34810320. sy475

I wrote a review about this book but I’m still not over it and I still doubt I actually found the right words to convey how much this book destroyed me. Still not over it. I think I’ll never be. Like ARGH!! The ending!!! There are days I’m still losing sleep over the ending. One of the books I’ll never forget and probably never will find the right words for either.

3.) „The Kite Runner“ by Khaled Hosseini

12532265

This book was so painful to read and my heart bleeds whenever I think about it. T_T One of the most painful books I ever read, but also in some way one of the most beautiful ones. There are no words that could possibly describe how deeply „The Kite Runner“ touched me. >_< Never going to read this one ever again because it’s still in my memory.

4.) Every single one of Suanne Laqueur’s books!

29637128. sy475

And I mean it! Suanne Laqueur is one of those exceptional authors you’re looking for your entire life. Her characters are premanently seared into my mind and heart and I’ll think of them until the day I die. I tried to review all of Suanne’s books but I did a really poor job at it… I mean how do you even find the right words to describe perfection?! You can read my attempts at reviews if you follow the links: „An Exaltation of Larks“, „A Charm of Finches„.

5.) „All for the Game“ Series by Nora Sakavic

17259690

I love Neil and Andrew and the Foxes so damn much!!! I can’t even! I’m always so emotional when I think about this series that my heart feels completely raw and fragile. XD I could probably write an entire essay about „The Foxhole Court“ and „The Raven King“ (I actually did *lol*) but no matter how many words I use it will never be enough. T_T Nothing will ever be enough to describe my feelings for this.

6.) „The Poppy War“ by R.F. Kuang

35068705

This book. THIS BOOK! I think I was traumatized when I finished it and I still haven’t picked up book two because book one already killed me. I wrote a review about this, but don’t ask me what I wrote. I probably was still in shock when I wrote it. >_<

7.) „The Hearts Invisible Furies“ by John Boyne

34727535. sy475

I always find it so difficult to write reviews about books that accompany a character her/his/their entire life. What do you want to mention, which moments aren’t all too important in the grand scheme of things, what do you really want to talk about?! I guess you can already tell that to review this book gave me a headache. *lol* It’s still so good though! ❤

8.) „My Dark Vanessa“ by Kate Elizabeth Russell

55820574. sy475

Now that was another book I had a really tough time to review. My thoughts were all over the place after I finished „My Dark Vanessa“ and to be honest this book is still making me feel uncomfortable and I’m still …. I dunno. I can’t even find the proper words to discribe my feelings so there you go again! So many mixed feelings about this. *shakes head*

9.) „The Song of Achilles“ by Madeline Miller

13516154

Okay, I know, I know! I wrote a super long review about „The Song of Achilles“ which is liked by a lot of people (thank you all btw!! I never thought so many people would enjoy it ❤ ) because they think I expressed their feelings by writing my review. Yet, I’m still not entirely sure if my review actually did this book justice. It is so damn good…. Guess I’m my own toughest critic. XD

10.) „Six of Crows“ Duology by Leigh Bardugo

26642116. sy475

Leigh Bardugo killed me with this duology and I think she enjoyed it. *lol* There is so much to be said about all the characters and about the plot etc. I wrote super long reviews – or should I rather say essays – about both of the books but I still think I didn’t even cover half of what I wanted to say. XD And I probably never will. 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books did you fail to review? Or rather for which kind of books did you never find the right words in order to describe them properly? Do we have some in common? And if yes which ones?! Also is there a book you never reviewed because you just couldn’t?!

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2021

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2021 (And there were so many I had a tough time to decide for just 10. But oh well, those are the ten that made it into the finale! ;-P)

1.) Brigid Kemmerer – „A Curse So Dark And Lonely“

43204703. sy475

I read this at the beginning of 2021 and I really liked it?! I mean I was no big fan of Rhen, but I liked Harper and I absolutely adored Grey! This was a great retelling and definitely something different. For instance the beast wasn’t the beast right away and our heroine has cerebral palsy. Plus there was a really mean villain that made me so angry! My absolute favourite character was Grey though, so I hope to see more of him in book two! ;-P

2.) Emily Henry – „Beach Read“

43597287. sy475

I remember going into this and expecting a typical romance but in the end this turned out to be so much more than that. I really enjoyed how those two authors got to know each other and I absolutely loved that they got inspired by each other. =) Add a very complicated background story to both MCs and you have a great read!

3.) Lev. A.C Rosen- „Jack of Hearts (and other Parts)“

40402188. sy475

I think I’ll never get tired of speaking about „Jack of Hearts“! This book was great! I loved that Jack was openly gay and I absolutely adored his honest and direct approach when it came to his column. I think the world and especially the teens that live in it need more books like this one. Jack was unapologetic, blunt and always straightforward when he answered the anonymous questions that came his way. XD I swear Jack Rothman is amazing!

4.) Sophie Gonzales & Cale Dietrich – „If This Gets Out“

56347574. sy475

Okay, this was legit one of my favourite books of 2021! I mean this book had everything I love in my books. Band life, the found family trope, strong friendships, a secret and forbidden romance, an adorable m/m ship, lots of angst, self-discovery, a great fandom portrayal and even the dark side of fame. Like seriously, for me this was so perfect! ❤

5.) Kacen Callender – „Felix Ever After“

48849624. sy475

And here comes another one of my favourites of 2021: „Felix Ever After“! This book! I mean THIS book! XD It made me think so much about myself and how I see others, how they see me and how people perceive others and how people want to be seen. Plus, I loved that Felix still questioned his gender and sexuality. I think it’s great if you know exactly who you are and who you want to be, but at the same time it’s also good if you never stop questioning yourself. I swear, I could write an essay about this book and its message but I think I’ll leave it at that. *lol*

6.) Mason Deaver – „I Wish You All The Best“

41473872

Mason Deaver is definitely a new author I discovered last year. I really enjoyed their story and I’m glad there are more and more own voices books out there with non-binary authors that know exactly what they are talking about. =) This book was so soft and I really loved Nathan! Absolutely perfect boyfriend material right there. ;-P He was really one of the most supportive characters I ever saw!

7.) Sylvain Neuvel – „Sleeping Giants“

33950895. sy475

Now this book totally came as a surprise and when I picked it up I had no idea I’d enjoy it so much. Actually I was pretty sceptical at first, because when I read about the massive giant hand in the earth I was basically like: WTF?! *lol* If you allow yourself to jump into the story you won’t regret it though. I had a lof of fun reading this and I’m very curious where the second book will go.

8.) Philip Reeve – „Railhead“

31119095. sy475

And here comes another surprise! I mean I shouldn’t have been surprised that I enjoyed this so much because it’s one of my Yoongi’s favourite book series and if I trust anyone with my bookish taste, then it’s the Yoongi to my V. *lol* Still, the idea of sentient locomotives and worm holes that connect different worlds sounded super weird and kinda alien to me. Well, until I started to get into the story and began to love this world! XD Honestly, I can’t wait to pick up book two.

9.) Stephanie Garber – „Caraval“

27883214

This book had nothing in common with „The Night Circus“ and this was good the way it was, because I really enjoyed to read „Caraval“! I don’t understand all the reviews that compare it to „The Night Circus“ because quite honestly „Caraval“ isn’t even a circus but rather a show and some sort of interactive game and there is a huge difference between those two. At least if you ask me. XD This said I really liked to explore this world alongside Scarlet, but I’m sure book two with Tella is going to be even more interesting. ;-P

10.) Silvia Moreno-Garcia – „Mexican Gothic“

53152636. sy475

I so rarely read in the genre of horror but „Mexican Gothic“ was right up my alley! I loved this dark and twisted tale about an old family in an even older house that falls apart at the seams. Add lots of fog, a cemetery next to the house and heavy nightmares with strange happenings and you have the perfect recipe for a horror book. *lol* I’ll definitely pick up Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s next book too. 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which new authors did you discover last year and do we have some in common? Did you already read some of the new authors I discovered and if yes, can you recommend me some of their other books? (I’ll take all the recs I can get! XD) Was there a new author that failed to convince you to buy more of their books? *lol*

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Winter 2021 To-read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books on My Winter 2021 To-read List (or summer if you’re in the southern hemisphere) Okay, so I decided I’ll mostly go with the books I’m currently reading because *lol* I want to finish them all either before the year is over or during winter! So wish me luck! I’ll need it. *lol* T_T

1.) The Gravity of Us – Phil Stamper

48731486

I’m currently about 24% into the book and I alreadly like Cal! I have no idea where „The Gravity Of Us“ is heading but I’m very intrigued by the concept of a Mars mission and hidden secrets that shouldn’t be exposed into the light of day. Also a m/m love story! I’m always here for a good LGBTQAI+ content. 😉

2.) Mexican Gothic – Silvia Moreno-Garcia

53152636. sy475

I was supposed to read this in October but then my library had troubles to get it in time and in the end I borrowed it in the middle of November and only started to read it at the end of it. I recently watched „Crimson Peak“ and the old house and the mystery surrounding it kinda reminds me of the movie. I guess we’ll have to see where this is going. So far I’m 23% in and I didn’t get scared… yet. *lol*

3.) A Court of Silver Flames – Sarah J. Maas

57127171

My reading buddies (Hello Jello & Kaitlyn!!) and I are sooo close to finishing this!! We’ve made it to 83% and I really hope we’ll be able to finish ACOSF during the winter holidays. We started to read this in April but life always seems to get in our way. >_< Still, we’ve come so far we’ll read the rest too. =)

4.) Now I Rise – Kiersten White

32682137

Yes, this is also on my currently read. And yes I have way too many books on my currently read. I’m aware of that. *LOL* But argh! I was in a reading slump and instead of sitting it out and waiting for it to be over I tried to fight it by starting new books and now I have the salad. XD Still, I really like this so far, but I’m very worried about my babies Radu and Lada. Guess only time will tell if they’ll finally find their happiness.

5.) Rule of Wolves – Leigh Bardugo

54589790

I’m sure you already guessed it: Yep, it’s on my current list too. T_T (Someone send help! Please! *lol*) This said I’m kinda undecided whether I like the direction in which this is heading or not. There doesn’t seem to be all too much of a plot but the characters most definitely make up for it. XD Can’t wait to see if my Zolai ship will sail. ❤ I really hope it will even though I have no idea how!

6.) A Small Hotel – Suanne Laqueur

58597304. sy475

I am still reading this! *mental breakdown* Why am I such a horrible reader?! I was supposed to finish this in September but you know…. life! >_< I love Suanne’s books but my reading slump was horrible and I just couldn’t read „A Small Hotel“ because I knew I wouldn’t be able to give it all the attention it deserves. Still, I’ll finish it before the year is over! You have my word on this, Suanne! Promise and pinky swear!

7.) The House of Hades – Rick Riordan

23362116

And here comes the last book on my currently reading! „The House of Hades“! You know you’re in a really terrible reading slump when you can’t even read one of Uncle Rick’s books! *lol* Guess that’s what I learned the hard way those last couple of months! T_T I’m so ready to dive into this book now that my slump is over though so my precious sons Nico and Percy here I come! ❤

8.) Girls of Paper And Fire – Natasha Noan

34433755

In My December TBR video on BookTube I asked you which should be the third book I read in December and in the end „Girls of Paper and Fire“ made it on my TBR! So I’m totally ready to tackle this over the Christmas holidays because I’ve been dying to read this f/f fantasy book for ages!! (Don’t ask me why it always takes me so long to get to books! I dunno! *lol*)

9.) The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson

12968705

„The Final Empire“ also made it on my winter TBR and since I’ve never ever read a single Brandon Sanderson book before I’m totally ready to find out what all the hustle and bustle is about! I’ve been told that this is a good start to read Sanderson’s books so I hope I’ll love it as much as all the other people who read this series before me.

10.) Frankly In Love – David Yoon

50690074

This doesn’t only have a fake dating trope but is also about Korean culture and when I found it in my library I just couldn’t resist to borrow it. I’m very curious if this is as good as it sounds and I guess the only way to find out is by actually reading the book, so this is definitely on my winter TBR too. =)

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which kind of books landed on your winter TBR and do we have some in common? Did you already read some of the ones that are on my list and if yes, did you like them? Did you ever fall into a horrible reading slump like mine and how did you get out of it? (Most definitely not by adding even more books to your list, I bet. I kinda dug my own grave there. RIP V.! *lol*)

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Love An Update On

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Characters I’d Love An Update On (Where are they now that the book is over?)

1.) Sadie – Courtney Summers

34810320. sy475

Okay, everyone who read „Sadie“ will know why I so desperately want an update on the characters in this book! Especially a certain one!!! XD I won’t spoil anything but I NEED an update on this!!! Or maybe an entire sequel? A short story?! An epilogue? A short paragraph? Breadcrumbs!? Literally ANYTHING will do!!! Please??!! *makes huge puppy eyes*

2.) If This Gets Out – Sophie Gonzales & Cale Dietrich

56347574. sy475

I loved this book so damn much because it had everything I love in books: Found family, a LGBTQ rep, band life, music, forbidden love, fandoms, etc. and even more important it had Ruben & Zach!!! I had the feeling that their story was actually just beginning by the end of the book and I’d totally love to get an update on their relationship and how things worked out! I’m so curious!!!

3.) The Queen of Nothing – Holly Black

52542477. sx318 sy475

After the ending of „The Queen of Nothing“ I can’t help but wonder what Jude and Cardan and their crazy family are up to. I mean ahhh this has so much potential! Holly Black could write 3 more books and I’d read them all! I’d really love to know where all the character stand now and what happened to them. If they found love, who they hooked up with, what their everyday life looks like… So many possibilities!!! XD

4.) Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas

39340341. sy475

I loved the ending of „Kingdom of Ash“ and it was one of the best endings of a series I ever read but I really would love to get even more. *lol* That’s a true fan right there, always thirsting for more. Haha! ;-P Anyway! There were so many ships and I wish I could have watched them all sail! Like, I mean…  ARAAFKADSKFASFAKSFHASKDFHASDFKSAFHAKSDFHAKSDF! That certain ship!!! ARGH!!!

5.) The Kingkiller Chronicles – Patrick Rothfuss

186074

Haha! Okay I’m joking! Or well, no, actually I’m not! I’m damn serious! I really want to know what happens with Kvothe and since we never got that long promised 3rd book (I’ve been waiting for YEARS, Pat!!!) I just want to know… I mean… I really…. I JUST WANT TO KNOW, okay?! *lol*

6.) Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

41150487. sy475

Why does it always feel like the real story just began when I read standalones? RWARB is another example of I really would have loved to get a second book just to see how the characters and their relationships develop over time. I mean there are so many unanswered questions and potential side-character ships. XD The curiosity is killing me! XD

7.) Lockwood & Co – Jonathan Stroud

33295236. sy475

There were 5 books of „Lockwood & Co“ and I would have read another five books if Jonathan Stroud would have decided to write them. Seriously this series was so good! I’d love to know what Lockwood, George and Lucy are doing now. I mean I’m pretty sure they grew up and I so would have loved to see that! Did their agency grow, are they still working on cases? Also the relationships: I would love to see what happened!

8.) The Raven Cycle – Maggie Stiefvater

17675462. sy475

My precious Raven Boys!!! What are they up to, did they graduate? Are they still in contact? Did Blue and Gansey travel around the world? What happened with Blue’s mum and her love interest? Is Henry with Gansey too?! I would ask all the same questions about Ronan and Adam but since „Call Down The Hawk“ exists I don’t have to ask them. *lol*

9.) Captive Prince Series – C.S. Pacat

22571663

The last book ended so abruptly and the short story I got was amazing but I just need more!? I want so much more of Laurent and Damen! I want to know if they ever got kids, what happened in the years after, if they married and got their happily ever after?! But I guess since this series is finished and over I will just have to wonder for the rest of my life. xD Ahh just a little bit more of Laurent and Damen! ❤

10.) Autoboyography – Christina Lauren

28919058. sy475

I read this book in 2017 and the ending was so hopeful and sweet but …. it was an ending! *lol* I wanted so much more and I still wonder what happened after it. You know, I’m just beginning to realize that I always miss closure in my books. XD If they are standalones you can bet there might be a slightly if not total open ending and I just can’t deal with them! T_T I’m way too curious for my own good. >_<

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which bookish characters would you love to get an update on? Do we have some in common? Am I the only one who has problems with open endings and always wonders what my favourite characters are doing now?!

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Halloween Freebie – 10 Spooky Books I Want To Read!

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Halloween Freebie (So today we got a freebie and I decided to write about 10 spooky books that made me curious and which I want to read! XD)

1.) „Mexican Gothic“ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

53152636. sy475

I finally got this from my library and even though it’s almost the end of October I still want to read it! I might finish it after Halloween but I’m sure that won’t take away any of my enjoyment! XD And for everyone who never heard about „Mexican Gothic“ before: It’s a book about a girl that gets a letter from her cousin who just married an English man and asks for the MCs help! Apparently strange things happen at their house and it’s full of secrets. Sounds mysterious and right up my alley!

2.) „The Guest List“ by Lucy Foley

50398953. sy475

I think everyone and their grandma already read this so I decided to jump on the hype train and to read it soon! One year too late but we all know I’m a snail! ;-P What makes this book interesting for me is the murder mystery on a deserted island. I can never resist those and of course you can bet that I’ll try to solve the murder in this as well. *lol*

3.) „Afterlove“ by Tanya Byrne

48656848. sy475

A book about fierce girl reapers that collect the souls of the dead until they can make their way to the afterlife and a f/f star-crossed love story on top of it? Do I really have to say more? Nope! I don’t think so! The cover says it all and I’m so here for it!

4.) „Shade“ by Chad Nicholas

58677112. sy475

So many of my fellow BookTubers raved about this and by now I’m so curious that I put it on my TBR. „Shade“ is a psychological thriller about a serial killer and the people that try to stop him. I really don’t know more about the book than that but the excitement of other reviewers was so strong that I just can’t help but want to read this. It sounds very intriguing and complex and as we all know I love books like that. XD

5.) „The Wicked Deep“ by Shea Ernshaw

35297394. sx318

This book has been all over my feed for years and the plot sounds super interesting. I mean three sisters that were sentenced to death because they were believed to be witches and that now return every year in order to steal the bodies of 3 young girls to do… Well, to basically lure boys into the harbor and to drown them in cold blood. Sounds like a perfect Halloween read to me! Plus I love myself some nasty witches! ;-P

6.) „The Sullivan Sisters“ by Kathryn Ormsbee

53018628. sx318 sy475

Okay, so first of all I’ve to declare that I’m in LOVE with this absolutely stunning cover! Like seriously! ❤ This said, this is a story about three sisters that couldn’t be any more different even if they tried and that have more secrets than they need. But then, just before Christmas, a letter about a dead uncle they had no clue existed arrives and apparently he even left an inheritance for them. A possible murder, a family mystery, three sisters. This book seems to have it all! Give it to me! =)

7.) „Empire of the Vampire“ by Jay Kristoff

43728380. sy475

It’s about VAMPIRES and Jay Kristoff wrote it! So how am I supposed to say no to this?! *lol* But seriously this book sounds great and I can’t wait to read Jay’s take on vampires. I bet this is going to be super dark and bloody and very, very adult! So yeah! I’m ready! Bring it on, Jay! ;-P

8.) „The Cavern“ by Alister Hodge

45026095. sy475

A sink hole that uncovers a mysterious cave system and an expedition to explore it? Ahh this sounds so damn intriguing! And as if we wouldn’t already have to deal with the pressure of being underwater (quite literally) and not seeing the sun there’s a savage predator in those caves as well? Sounds super spooky and I’m all in!

9.) „Broken Things“ by Lauren Oliver

37859646

Three girls alone in the woods and only two return out of it alive. What happened 5 years ago when Summer died and Mia and Brynn were the only ones to come out of the woods? Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend but is this really true? I guess it’s about time to find out.

10.) „The Walls Around Us“ by Nova Ren Suma

18044277

I have no idea what this is about, but I know that it’s a supernatural story about the question of guilt and innocence and that it’s about three girls. One of them in prison, one of them a dancer on the outside and the last one Orianna, well, apparently she’s the big mystery that connects them and needs to be solved.

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which horror books or thrillers do you want to read? Do you know some of the books I spoke about and if yes, which ones did you read? Can you recommend any other good books for the spooky season?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Fall 2021 To-read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books on My Fall 2021 To-read List

1.) „Felix Ever After“ by Kacen Callender

48849624. sy475

I put „Felix Ever After“ on my September TBR and I intend to start it next week. I’ve been looking forward to read this for ages and I’m so glad my library had it in its shelves! It’s one of the few books I know about that actually have a transgender MC so I’m very excited to read Felix’s story. Also I’m absolutley in love with the cover! It’s so lively and realistically unapologetic!

2.) „Ninth House“ by Leigh Bardugo

52092876. sx318 sy475

To be honest I started this yesterday and I’m soo ready to read „Ninth House“! I’ve never read dark academia before and I heard that a lot of people would place this book in the genre. So far I’ve loved every book I read from Leigh so I’m pretty certain I’ll enjoy this one as well. It might be darker than the others but I’m definitely ready to explore this darker side of Leigh’s writing! 😉

3.) „Railhead“ by Philip Reeve

23532981

The Yoongi to my V spoke so much about this series that I couldn’t help but get curious about it. So when I recently discovered that my library actually has „Railhead“ I just couldn’t resist to borrow it. *lol* I’m sure Sabrina waited for me to read this ever since I spoke about it in my last library haul video on my BookTube channel! So yep, it’s autumn and I’m finally going to tackle this. XD

4.) „Rebel“ by Marie Lu

42121526

So I recently finished to read the Legend trilogy! And after THAT kind of ending I knew I couldn’t let it stand like that! I mean ARGHAADKLFASFJSAKDJS! Marie Lu always kills me with her endings and I just needed more after the finale of „Champion“. Thankfully I stumbled upon this in my library and I have every intention to read it and to hopefully get an ending I can live with. *lol*

5.) „The Gravity of Us“ by Phil Stamper

44281034

„The Gravity of Us“ has been on my radar for quite a while and the idea of a LGBTQ+ book that also tackles the topic of spacetravel is just too intriguing to let it go unnoticed! XD I already love the concept of this and I’m very curious how this is going to play out. Guess I’ll find out this autumn! *lol*

6.) „My Dark Vanessa“ by Kate Elizabeth Russell

55820574. sy475

Now here’s a book that doesn’t only have an intriguing topic but also a very serious one and I’m sure to read this will be tough. Still, I really want to know what’s all the fuss about. A lot of people said that it wasn’t their cup of tea and others said that „My Dark Vanessa“ was hard to read but that the way the story was told is brilliant. So yeah, the controversial opinions about it made me curious which caused this to land on my TBR. You know I can’t resist controversial books. *lol*

7.) „The Guest List“ by Lucy Foley

51933429

I really don’t know much about this book except of that it plays on an island and that it’s about a wedding. Oh yes, and that it is a mystery thriller. XD So I guess it’s fair to say that I know next to nothing about „The Guest List“. It was a goodreads choice winner of 2020 though and lots of people spoke about it back then. For me that’s enough reason to give it a try as a Halloween read! 😉

8.) „Mexican Gothic“ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

53152636. sy475

And here comes my second Halloween read for this year. This entire book gives me a haunted house and cursed family vibe and I don’t know if you already know this about me, but I LOVE vibes like that! *lol* I’m the first one to read a book about a house with millions of hidden doors and even more hidden secrets about its owners. XD So yep, this is going to be fun. Hopefully.

9.) „Heartstopper: Volume Three“ by Alice Oseman

43449920. sy475

After all the darkness (or gloom and doom if you want to call it like that *lol*) I need something light and nothing is better than Alice Oseman’s „Heartstopper“! My library recently got volume three and of course I had to borrow it. I’m really looking forward to be reunited with Nick and Charlie! Because those two boys are precious!!! ❤ (Plus: The entire cast of „Heartstopper“ is amazing!!)

10.) „Love, Creekwood“ by Becky Albertalli

53239539. sy475

I wanted to read this for what feels like a lifetime and this autumn I finally decided to go for it! I need more of Simon and Blue and I’m really curious what happened after the two former books in the Simonverse! I guess this will be some sort of epilogue that will hopefully give me all the fluffy feels and will make me very happy. No high expectations and no pressure. Really, Becky! *lol*

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books are on your fall TBR and do we have some in common? Do you have special books you want to read for Halloween and if yes, are they very creepy? As you all know I’m a scaredy fox and I’m always looking for nice horror books that aren’t too heavy. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time (Oh where to start?! *lol*)

1.) „Harry Potter“ series by J.K. Rowling

22844191. sy475

Ahh to be 11 years old and to discover Harry Potter all over again. It would be so amazing to read this series for the very first time. Especially because now I could read all seven books without having to wait for the next instalment. I swear the wait for the next book was always so excruciating. Alone for that I envy everyone who is just discovering the series and reading it for the very first time. *lol*

2.) „The Raven Cycle“ Series by Maggie Stiefvater

17347389 I just love, love, love, love and once again love this series!!! It has my heart and my soul and I will never get tired of speaking about „The Raven Cycle“. I just love all the four raven boys and Blue to bits and pieces! So yes, to discover this series all over again would be so amazing! To feel all the feels for the very first time. Ahh! I can’t! XD I’d so love to experience it all over again. ❤

3.) „All for the Game“ Series by Nora Sakavic

17259690 I just finished the second book „The Raven King“ and I’m already at the point where I say that I would like to read it for the very first time. I guess that says enough about how great this series is and also about how addicted I got to it. *lol* I can’t believe I’m so invested in the Foxes but ARGH!!! Andrew Minyard and Neil Josten are my precious babies and I just want to hug them and wrap them into a cozy and warm blanket! I don’t know what it is about this series but I AM HOOKED!

4.) „Venery“ Series by Suanne Laqueur

36285077. sx318 When I stumbled upon Suanne’s series I never thought I would get so attached to it. Like OMG! This series totally blew me away and Javier Landes, Alex Penda and Steffen Finch will always have a special place in my heart! Needless to say I would love to read this series all over again. Suanne’s writing style is so damn amazing! If you don’t know her books already: Do yourself a favour and read this series for the very first time! And don’t forget to tell me, because I want to relive it vicariously through you. ;-P

5.) Basically all of Rick Riordan’s books I already read! *lol*

28187 I only discovered Uncle Ricks books about 2 years or so ago, but by now I read almost all of them and I enjoyed them immensely! So believe me when I say that I would love to read every single one of them for the very first time. Percy, Nico, Annabeth, Hazel, Leo and basically everyone in this series is so precious! ❤

6.) „The Song of Achilles“ by Madeline Miller

13516154 Okay, I probably would die all over again if I would read this for the very first time but quite honestly: It would be so worth it! I would gladly cry my eyes out if I could experience this for the very first time again. XD Masochistic much? Yes, but this book is a masterpiece and if you haven’t read it yet: What are you waiting for?! Patroclus and Achilles! T_T I’m crying once again. So beautiful and bittersweet!

7.) „The Name of the Wind“ by Patrick Rothfuss

186074 And here comes another masterpiece that I loved more than I thought I would. Kvothe is basically my kryptonite. A broken boy that is intelligent, a musician and to top it all off even a redhead! *lol* It’s like Patrick Rothfuss just wanted to see how hard I could fall for a fictional character. Well, Patrick you succeeded, I’d love to fall in love with Kvothe and his story all over again. XD

8.) „Carry On“ by Rainbow Rowell

32768522 Simon and Baz!! Baz and Simon!!! Oh gods, to see them fall in love for the very first time! I had so much fun reading this and „Carry On“ is still a book I love to get back to every once in a while. I already said it and I’ll say it once again: I fall asleep cuddling this book! *lol* It’s such a comfort read and to think of those two always makes me happy! =)) They are definitely one of my favourite m/m OTPs and I’ll probably recommend this book until the day I die. 😉

9.) „Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda“ by Becky Abertalli

19547856 I remember reading this for the very first time and not being able to put it down. I wanted to read this slowly and I had every intention to take notes when I read it. But the book obviously had other plans because I just couldn’t stop reading! Before I even knew it I was already halfway through the book and just wanted to know how Simon’s story ends. And of course if he gets the man! *lol* Also Simon is so damn relatable!! Love this boy so much! ❤

10.) „Shatter Me“ Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi

13455782 Mhmm… *deep sigh* To fall in love with Aaron Warner for the very first time! To discover Tahereh Mafi’s beautiful writing style all over again. This would be amazing! I was in love the moment I started to read this book and I think this will never change. Everyone who’s able to read this series for the very first time is very lucky, indeed!

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books would you love to read for the very first time and do we have some in common? Can you recommend me some books that would be amazing to read? And if yes do you want to relive them vicariously through me? *lol*

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Read In One Sitting

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books I Read In One Sitting (or would have if I had the time)

Ohhh, this is going to be fun! Also just 10 books and series? Oh gosh! This is going to be tough, I read so many books that would fall into this category. Okay, let’s see what will pop into my mind first. XD

1.) Lord of the Rings by. J.R.R. Tolkien

727798

I got the entire trilogy for Christmas when I was 13 years old and I read all three books in one week. *lol* I was basically glued to the pages and only stopped reading when I needed to eat something, had to go to the toilet or had to sleep. My family was laughing so much because they couldn’t understand my obsession. XD Looking at it in retrospective I think LotR was my epic fantasy awakening. *lol*

2.) Harry Potter by J.K Rowling

72193. sx318 sy475

Okay, I think everyone who was ever a Harry Potter fan read those books in one sitting, right? I mean whenever the next one came out my family and friends knew that they couldn’t disturb me for the next couple of hours. I just had to read them really fast and I gobbled them up like nobody’s business. Which constantly led to a book hangover, because I had to wait another year or two for the next book to come out! Fun times. *lol*

3.) A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

17927395. sy475

I still remember the spring in which I started to read this series and I never regretted it. ACOTAR was the first Sarah J. Maas book I ever read and it got me totally hooked. I loved everything about the first book then went through the masterpiece that is book two and finally reached the ending after finishing the last page of ACOWAR. What a journey! ❤

4.) The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic

17259690

„The Foxhole Court“ is one of the books that totally caught me by surprise. A lot of my favourite bloggers and reviewers talked about it but I still didn’t get the hype. Well, at least not until I picked it up and immediately got hooked! *lol* Like seriously!!! There’s something about this story that made it impossible to let go of this book. I was OBSESSED with Neil and Andrew and I still am!!! XD Truth be told, I just started to read the second book and I don’t think I’m ready for this kind of obsession but you know… I just NEED to know! ;-P

5.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

17347389

Rarely did a series touch me as much as „The Raven Cycle“! I lived and breathed this series and for a couple of months it was the only thing I could think of! Yes, I was THAT besotted with it. Still am if I’m honest. ;-P There’s just something about all the characters and the magic of this series that got me totally addicted. But honestly, I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. The Raven Boys will always be in my heart! ❤

6.) Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

22571663

I still remember the first time I read this series. Back then I was still in the closet and to read this felt like some sort of forbidden guilty pleasure. It was basically the first m/m book/series I ever read and probably not the best start for someone who’s still in the closet but I didn’t mind. Haha! I guess to read this series was sort of liberating and after the cuteness of book 2 and 3 I was totally excited about it. (Book one is a rough start but it only gets better with book 2!) I think in some way this series gave me the strength to come out and the next time I read it, I did it openly without hiding it anymore. =)

7.) The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

23395680. sy475

Ha! Everyone who ever read this series knows how addicting it is. *lol* Like you start with the first book and think: Oh the formatting is kinda weird, but okay?! And before you even know it you’re right smack in the middle of the plot and bite your fingernails because you just NEED to know how it continues!! Been there, done that, got the freaking t-shirt and I’ve been wearing it proudly ever since! Haha! ;-P

8.) Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

19547856

Ahhh Simon! This book was so full of cuteness that I just couldn’t put it down. I could relate to Simon so much and his conversations with Blue kept me glued to the pages. I remember wanting to read this slowly but before I even knew it I was halfway through the book and spammed the feeds of my goodreads friends with updates! *lol* My last update of this book was literally: „OMG! I can’t stop to read this book! I need to know!!!“ So I guess that says it all! XD

9.) The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

41865

„Twiligt“ is an „old“ series or well, relatively old if you consider the fact that the first book was published in 2005. So this is actually one of those series I read in one go! It was summer, my sister and her bf were on a holiday and I had their entire flat to myself. Needless to say that I locked myself up in their flat with food and other supplies and didn’t come out before I had finished the entire series. *lol*  I was 20 back then… ahh I feel old now! >_< Haha!

10.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

13455782

„Shatter Me“ is one of those series I only discovered after joining goodreads but I’m really so glad that I did! XD I loved this series to bits and pieces and the writing style as well as the love story totally blew me away! I still want a bf like Aaron Warner and I think this will never change. ❤ I rushed through the entire series in about 2 weeks and this even though I could only read it when my kid was sleeping. *lol* So that should say it all. 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Do we have some books in common? And if yes, did you rush through them as well? Can you recommend me a book that will glue me to its pages?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤
