Top Ten Tuesday:  New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022 (If you didn’t read books by 10 new authors, share new-to-you authors whose books you added to your TBR in 2022. Get creative, if needed!)

1.) T.J Klune

58506799    58562619. sy475     61427937. sy475

I’ve read my first TJ Klune book in July and hosted a Readalong named #Klunealong to finally dig my claws into one of his books. Well, in the end I read 2 more books from him and there is no end in sight! I just love his books so much and they are funny, heart-breaking, amazing, suspenseful, wholesome, sad, bitter-sweet, and all the other adjectives you can think of. Just amazing! And thankfully he wrote a ton of books so it will take me a long time to catch up to all of them. YAY! *lol*

2.) Margaret Rogerson

43279080. sy475

„Sorcery of Thorns“ was my first Margaret Rogerson book but I really like her writing style and I absolutely adored the characters in this book. So I’m looking forward to read her other works and to find out if she might even have a series I can get lost in. This was a standalone and recently she released a sequel novella which I’m definitely going to read too.

3.) L. Philips

32855079. sy475

I’ve never heard of this author but one day „Sometime After Midnight“ ended up on my goodreads feed and I got curious about the book. Honestly for such an unknown book this story was amazing and I was a sucker for the music element in here. I’m convinced L. Philips is making music herself because the way she described the two MCs making music together?! It was perfect! Such a surprising and awesome book! I loved every second of it! ❤

4.) Victoria Lee

39897058

And here comes another author that totally surprised me! „The Fever King“ and Victoria Lee as an author have been on my radar for ages and I wanted to read this book for a very long time. Well, and then one day in spring I found it at one of my libraries and finally picked it up. And wow!! This story, the world and the two MCs got me good! I really can’t wait to read book two because I need to know what’s going to happen to Dara and Noam!!!!

5.) Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

Naomi Novik is one of those authors that was always recommended to me but I never read a single one of her books before last year. In 2022 I decided I’d finally try out one of her books and chose „Spinning Silver“, which apparently was a good choice because I enjoyed it a lot. Not gonna lie I loved the fairy-tale aspect of this and the strong female MCs but I was kinda thrown off by the ending. It felt like the book was over but then it wasn’t so I’m kinda careful with the next Novik book I’m going to pick up. *lol*

6.) Tracy Deonn

55507414. sy475

This book was amazing!!! I never tought I’d enjoy „Legendborn“ as much as I did but wow!! I was such a sucker for this arthurian retelling you have no idea! The entire world, all the diverse characters, the strong female lead character, the grief rep and especially SELWYN KANE!!!! soo persuaded me to pick up the second book. I need more of Sel. Really! And I can’t wait to dig my fingers into „Bloodmarked“!

7.) Karla Nikole

55232639. sy475

This book was exactly what I needed! An m/m vampire romance with a slow-burn and with one of my new favourite tropes „consent“ on both sides! *lol* I still dunno if you can call „consent“ a trope but for me it is because I love this in my books and I’ll never get enough of it. XD So Karla Nikole totally hit that spot for me and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. Haru and Nino are two really awesome MCs and they fit together perfectly. I definitely want to see more of them and their world soon!

8.) Mira Grant

34913896. sy475

Deadly mermaids that will rip your throat out as soon as they see you?! YES! I gobbled this book up like nobody’s business and had a lot of fun while paging through it! *lol* Mira Grant is a master at creating a creepy atmosphere and even though this was also gory af all the science we got in here definitely made up for it. It was just the right mixture of gore, horror, suspense and science and I loved it! ❤ Can’t wait to dive (pun totally intended) into the next of Mira Grant’s books. 😉

9.) Brandon Sanderson

21462006

I finally read my first Brandon Sanderson book and I really enjoyed it. Admittedly it took me ages to get into the right mood to read „The Final Empire“ but that’s mostly a „it’s not the book, but me thing“ because I’m such a mood reader and I wasn’t in the right for epic fantasy for a while. *lol* But hey, once I got into the right mood I really loved this. It left me with so many questions though and I really hope that some of them will be answered in „The Well of Ascension“. *fingers crossed*

10.) Libba Bray

16050751. sy475

I heard a lot about Libba Bray and her Diviners series but I never picked it up until one of my fellow BookTubers asked if someone wanted to read it with her. Well, of course I said yes and I had one of the best buddy reads ever! This was creepy, eerie and gruesome to read but also very entertaining and atmospheric?! I really enjoyed that it played in the 20ies and the characters were super interesting. Very curious where this series is going and I already agreed on a buddy read of book two with Victoria! (who is the aforementioned BookTuber that read the first book with me.)

So what about you? Which authors were new to you in 2022 and which books of them did you read? Do we have any books in common or did you actually read some of them already? And if yes, did you enjoy them?Did you discover different authors than me? And can you recommend books by them?? =)

Top Ten Tuesday: Spooky LGBTQIA+ Books

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Halloween Freebie (This time I decided to go for a focus on spooky LGBTQIA+ books because there are many and I’m having a lot of fun with the readathon I’m currently hosting #Rainboween so I figured why not give a couple more recs?! Some of them aren’t all too spooky but others well, they are. *lol*)

1.) „Into the Drowning Deep“ by Mira Grant

I just finished reading this book and boy did it have me at the edge of my seat! There are flesh eating sirens in this book and they are creepy af! *lol* Also they are very interesting because the ship that wants to find them is full of scientists and I really liked that science aspect during the book. =) If they’d really be real I wouldn’t want to meet them though. And yes there is a f/f relationship in this too so it definitely has a LGBTQIA+ rep.

2.) „Lore & Lust“ by Karla Nikole

This was the first book I read for #Rainboween and I loved it so much! It’s about two male vampires named Haruka and Nino who meet through an ancient vampire ritual they are kinda forced to supervise/witness. They are both very curious about each other and eventually become friends. This is a slow burn, people, but it really was such a lovely and nice one and I can totally recommend reading the book if you love vampires and m/m books.

3.) „Summer Sons“ by Lee Mandelo

Okay, I haven’t read that one yet but it sounds very promising and I definitely want to get a copy into my greedy hands! The plot sounds super mysterious because it’s about two best friends that wanted to go to college (at least I think it’s college?!) together. Eddie goes there first though and shortly before Andrew can join him Eddie dies. Apparently it was suicide, at least that’s what everyone thinks. Well, and then the shit hits the fan because Andrew finds out a lot of dark secrets about his bestie and begins to wonder if he ever knew him. Oh yeah and he’s haunted by a phantom too. *lol* Honestly, I want to read this so bad.

4.) „The Darkest Part of the Forest“ by Holly Black

I read this a while ago but I still remember it vividly because it was my first Holly Black book ever and it totally got me hooked on her books. ❤ „The Darkest Part of the Forest“ is about two siblings named Holly and Ben that live in a town named Fairfold that basically lives next to the faerie world. And right smack in the forest there is a glass coffin that holds a mysterious sleeping faerie prince. Both siblings are in love with him until one day he wakes up and turns their world upside down. ;-P

5.) „Wolfsong“ by TJ Klune

I loved all of TJ Klune’s books I read so far and I’m convinced I’ll love this one too. It’s about werewolves and the love between two boys named Ox and Joe that meet on a road when they are young. Apparently they grow older as the book progresses but find each other again? There isn’t a lot said about the plot but listening to everyone and their grandma raving about this series made me more than just curious. *lol* I am ready!!

6.) „Malice“ by Heather Walter

Honestly this story had me at f/f „Sleeping Beauty“ retelling because YES! This is what I’m here for! XD Apparently gentle Aurora falls in love with the witch in this one and this idea has me super intrigued! I love fairy tales with a spin and this one sounds amazing! I’m sure I’ll get to this one sooner or later. Well, hopefully rather sooner! It just sounds so good. 😉

7.) „The Sacrifice“ by Rin Chupeco

I’ve never read a single book by Rin Chupeco but I’ve heard of them and they all have me intrigued so I guess it’s finally time to pick one up?! „The Sacrifice“ sounds absolutely awesome! I mean an island in the middle of the Philippines that is cursed? And a local guide that is supposed to help a Hollywood film crew? Sounds like my kinda cup of tea! *lol* Also I heard that there is a non-binary rep in here and quite honestly that makes this book even more tempting! =)

8.) „Sawkill Girls“ by Claire Legrand

I absolutely loved this book when I read it last year! Again we have an island setting and some sort of monster that lives on it and abducts young girls. What for? Well, you’ll find out if you read the book! *lol* Not gonna spoil anything here! All I’m going to say is that this book had me hooked and I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it so much! It was a total surprise! There’s a sapphic rep in there too, but that’s all I’m going to say! ;-P

9.) „The Ghost of Buxton Manor“ by Jonathan L. Ferrara

I’m not gonna lie, by the end of this book I cried buckets of tears! Seriously, I was ugly crying and I still have no idea how a book about a boy that falls in love with a ghost boy that haunts his new home caused me to end up like that. There’s just something about Jonathan L. Ferrara’s writing style that hits you right smack in the feels! ❤  I was a mess after this book! Slightly spooky and creepy at times but so, so sad and charming at the same time. I highly recommend to read this one!

10.) „The Luminous Dead“ by Caitlin Starling

A psychological horror thriller about a woman who goes to a foreign planet in order to map a cave system but then ends up stuck in it with a guide she can’t fully trust? And something that might lurk in the dark and is following her? Is it imagination or is it real? Well, I’m definitely going to find out when I start to read this book! 😉

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which freebie topic would you have chosen for this Top Ten Tuesday? Did you like my LGBTQIA+ take on it and if yes have you read any of the books I mentioned? Do you have some recommendations for me too? Any good and spooky LGBTQIA+ books I should add to my ever growing TBR?

Top Ten Tuesday:  Books On My Fall 2022 To-Read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books On My Fall 2022 To-Read List (Now this is going to be fun again! XD)

1.) „Empire of the Vampire“ by Jay Kristoff

43728380. sy475

I wanted to read this book for ages and I guess fall is the perfect time to pick up a huge vampire book! I can’t wait to see Jay’s take on vampires and I’m sure I’ll love it! With about 700+ pages this book is pretty thick though and that actually kept me from diving into it. I’m ready for it now, though! So bring it on Jay Kristoff! ;-P

2.) „Verity“ by Colleen Hoover

60217269. sy475

And here’s another one of those books I wanted to read for a long time but never dared to pick up. *lol* This time around the fact that everyone, literally everyone, is constantly warning about the trigger warnings made me very scared to read this. But I guess it’s September and soon it will be spooky month aka Halloween so this sounds about the right time to read a book like this. I hope I’ll get out of this unscathed. *nervous laugh*

3.) „Call Down the Hawk“ by Maggie Stiefvater

44074162. sy475

I started this book ages ago but never really picked it up because there was always a library book that needed to be read first. Guess that’s the problem with the books you own, you rather read all the others first. XD I’ll rectify that injustice to this, no doubt, amazing book this fall though and my Yoongi and I will finally read this together! ❤

4.) „Wolfsong“ by T.J. Klune

29233804. sy475

I finally discovered T.J. Klune’s books this summer through my #Klunealong and I’m so going to pick up this one because everyone says it’s amazing. So far I loved all of his books and I’m sure I’ll adore this one too! I can’t wait to read about LGBTQIA+ werewolves and I’m so ready to be blown away by Klune’s writing again! This sounds like the perfect Halloween read for me!

5.) „All Systems Red“ by Martha Wells

32758901. sy475

I’m so intrigued by the premise of this book, you have no idea! XD A murderbot sounds really interesting and so many people said that this is funny so I’m totally here for it! I mean alone the fact that this AI calls itself „murderbot“ in it’s head and doesn’t like humans is already very promising. *lol* I’m ready to find out more. 😉

6.) „The Silvered Serpents“ by Roshani Chokshi

52796733. sy475

I really should FINISH. THIS. BOOK! *lol* Seriously I began to read it in April and it’s about time I take it off my „currently reading“! I guess you can tell that I was in a reading slump for a while because the mere fact I didn’t devour this says it all! I mean I love those characters and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on an ARC of this baby – which I never did btw – yet I still haven’t finished it. And that’s wrong! I’m going to love this book the way it deserves now and I’m determined to get it off my list in a month! XD

7.) „The Electric Heir“ by Victoria Lee

45439783

I loved the first book „The Fever King“ when I read it this year and I can’t wait to find out how this story continues. Dara and Noam own my heart and I really, really just want the best for my precious boys! I’m kinda worried I’ll end up suffering in this book though so uff. I guess that’s why I procrastinated again. XD But I will read it this fall!! I know it!

8.) „The Queen of Air and Darkness“ by Cassandra Clare

13541056. sy475

I promised Catherine that I’d read this book by the end of the year and I have every intention to go through with this promise! It’s about time I pick up Cassandra Clare’s books again and even though I know it will hurt, I still want to read this one! No, actually I NEED to read this one because damn, I need to find out what is going to happen to all my precious Blackthorns! T_T And my super precious Kieran which I love with all my heart! ❤

9.) „The King’s Men“ by Nora Sakavic

23594461

This book is going to hurt so bad! I just know it, but I still want to know how it all ends. I made it through book 2 so how bad can it get? (He asked knowing full well that it would be excruciating! *lool*) No, seriously, I’m not ready to read book three of this series but oh well, I guess I’ll never be so it won’t help to procrastinate forever. I just need to be brave and pick it up. I can do it! XD

10.) „This Savage Song“ by Victoria Schwab

40642172. sy475

This book has been on my TBR for ages and I finally want to read it. I mean it’s one of the few Schwab books I haven’t read yet and it’s been on my „Book List 2021“ as well. At least I think I put it on there. So yep, it’s time to find out what this series is about. Schwab can do nothing wrong with me, I just adore her books. ❤

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books are on your fall TBR and do we have some in common? Do you have special books you want to read for Halloween and if yes, are they very creepy? As you all know I’m a scaredy fox and I’m always looking for nice horror books that aren’t too heavy. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Love That Were Written Over Ten Years Ago

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books I Love That Were Written Over Ten Years Ago (Now this is going to be interesting because I have no idea which books are older than 10 years. *lol* Let’s see if I can find some. XD)

1.) „Legend“ by Marie Lu

9275658

So I only started to read this series about two years ago but it’s definitely among my fave series ever and I really love Day and June!! I guess since the first book „Legend“ was released in 2011 it actually counts as a book older than 10 years. *lol* Honestly, though! I can’t believe this was written 11 years ago! How is this gem 11 years old already? I still need to read „Rebel“ (book number 4) but I’m sure I’ll love it as well.

2.) „Shatter Me“ by Tahereh Mafi

13455782

Ahhh if you know me, you also know that I love the „Shatter Me“ series!! (Only the original trilogy though because book 6 doesn’t exist! At least not according to me! ;-P) I gobbled the first trilogy up like nobody’s business and Aaron Warner is number one of my book bfs! I mean yeah, he has to share first place with Will Herondale but still! This series is great and the first book came out in 2011 so it counts!

3.) „Wicked Lovely“ by Melissa Marr

305234

Okay, so the first book „Wicked Lovely“ got released in 2007 so it’s way older than 10 years but I still love this series so much! I dunno what it is about this series but ahh I adore so many of the characters and I just love the way the faerie courts are represented. It’s one of the best faerie series ever and I adore it. Period! Irial, Niall and Seth have my heart and soul! ❤

4.) „The Fellowship of the Ring“ by J.R.R. Tolkien

828401

I admit it, „The Fellowship of the Ring“ is way older than 10 years, because it was first published in July 1954. But I think we can all agree that LotR is one of the best fantasy series ever! It’s a classic and everyone and their grandma knows this trilogy, right?! I mean if you haven’t read all three (super thick books) you at least have watched the movies or heard about the movies so yep, LotR! =)

5.) „The Name of the Wind“ by Patrick Rothfuss

186074

Just to get it out there into the world: This book is amazing and a masterpiece and I love it so damn much you have no idea! It was released in 2007 and I think I only read it way later on but it really sneaked its way into my heart. Still if I’m talking about Pat Rothfuss I also have to say that I’m still waiting for book 3 of this trilogy! (Which probably will never come out and this totally sucks.) So if you want to read „The Name of the Wind“ you’ve to be aware that you’ll probalby never get to read the ending of this series. Just saying. *lol*

6.) „Divergent“ by Veronica Roth

13335037. sy475

I can’t believe „Divergent“ was released in 2011. I really loved this first book so much! It was great, it was amazing, it was something different and I really loved to dive into this world. Unfortunately book 2 and 3 didn’t really do it for me and I came out of this series only loving the first book. It’s a shame but it is what it is. >_<

7.) „Clockwork Angel“ by Cassandra Clare

7171637. sy475

This series is among my favourite series of all times as well! I mean „Clockwork Angel“ was released in 2010 but I’ve reread „The Infernal Devices“ about a gazillion of times ever since and it’s just… I adore all those lovely characters and Will Herondale! Ahhh Will! AKDFAKSDFKASDJ! Also Jem and Tessa and damn! I have so much love for this series and its characters I can’t put it into words. ❤

8.) „The Passage“ by Justin Cronin

7169581. sy475

I can’t believe I read „The Passage“ in 2011 absolutely loved it and then never continued to read the rest of the series. *lol* What is wrong with me? I suppose one of the reasons is that it took a very long time for me to get book two and three and once I had all of them I knew I’d have to rearead book one to get back into the swing and it’s just so… huge. Haha! 766 pages. Uff. I will reread it one day though and then I’ll finally continue with the rest of the series. =)

9.) „The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo“ by Stieg Larsson

2429135

Now this is a series I read a couple of years ago and I think I even read it when it was hyped so I definitely must have read the first book in 2008. This book was brutal, unapologetic, bloody and so unlike anything I ever read before and I kinda enjoyed the hell out of it? *lol* I think it spoke to my dark side back then and I never regretted picking it up. You should definitely check the trigger warnings for this one before you go into it though.

10.) „The Hunger Games“ by Suzanne Collins

2767052

Funnily enough „The Hunger Games“ must have been released around the same time as „The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo“ so in 2008. I really liked all of the books and they were so well written. =) Suzanne Collins broke my heart multiple times throughout this series and I still think that Peeta is one of the most precious souls. The ending… well it’s been years and I still dunno how I feel about it. It was realistic but also so bittersweet and kinda sad. >_<

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books were written over 10 years ago but you still love them? Do we have some in common? Did you have troubles to think of books that fit the prompt or was I the only one. (The most recent ones were the first to pop into my mind. *lol*) Did you count series into it as well?

Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Summer 2022 To-Read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Books On My Summer 2022 To-Read List – Now this is going to be a fun list because most of those books I borrowed from my library and need to read in time. 😉

1.) „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ by T.J. Klune

45047384. sy475

I’ll finally read this gem in July!!! I’m hosting my first readalong ever and I named it #Klunealong because in July we’ll be reading „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ and in August… well, the voting for this one is still open so I dunno which book we’ll read. *lol* If you’re interested in joining here’s the link to the official blog post I wrote about it: Readalong Announcement: „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ – #Klunealong  My bestie was so kind to make a discord as well so we can chat about our reading process while we read the book! 😉 I’d love it if you’d join, the more the merrier! ❤

2.) „Camp“ by L.C. Rosen

53115194. sx318 sy475

I finally put this book on my TBR for July because I loved „Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts)“ when I read it and I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one as well. 🙂 Also I needed a short book I could read in July aside of „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ because I’m sure I’ll be very busy with hosting my #Klunealong. *lol* I really have no idea what I got myself into. XD

3.) „Rebel“ by Marie Lu

42121526

It’s about time I finish this series! I mean I already read and loved the „Legend“ trilogy but I still haven’t picked up this book. As far as I could tell by the blurb this plays after the main trilogy and is about Day’s brother Eden. I still hope that we’ll get Day and June though because I’m still not okay after reading the ending of the trilogy. I mean… that ending! I can’t let it stand like that! Please Marie Lu, give me something good! I beg you! T_T

4.) „The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue“ by V.E. Schwab

51029834. sy475

This book has been on my TBR ever since it was an ARC and I can’t wait to pick it up! I heard so many great things about it. Funnily enough I also heard a couple of negative reviews by now, so I’m very curious if it will live up to my expectations. The premise sounds way too good though and since I loved all of Schwab’s books so far I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy this one too. I guess the only way to find out it by reading it. 😉

5.) „Darius the Great Is Not Okay“ by Adib Khorram

37506437

I recently found this in my library and instantly snatched it from the shelf! *lol* I heard so many great things about Adib Khorram and since he recently released „Kiss & Tell“ I thought it’s about time I pick up one of his books and start reading! XD He might actually become one of my new fave authors if I end up loving his books so fingers crossed my prediction will come true! Very curious if this is going to be great! (yeah, that was a subtle pun. ;-P)

6.) „A Very Large Expanse of Sea“ by Tahereh Mafi

38720939. sy475

So far the only books I know by Tahereh Mafi are her „Shatter Me“ books and I absolutely loved the original trilogy. (Book 4 and 5 were okay, but book 6… let’s just say it so didn’t work for me! >_< ) Anyway! I still love the original trilogy so I’m ready to find out how Mafi’s writing style is going to work in a completely different setting. This sounds really intriguing and I’m ready to dive into it! =)

7.) „The Kingdom of Back“ by Marie Lu

45872054. sy475

I gotta be honest with you: I had no idea Marie Lu even wrote this book! *lol* I read so many Marie Lu books already and loved every single one of them („Legend series“, „Batman“, „The Young Elites“, „Warcross“, you name it!) but for some reason I never heard of this one until I found it in my library. Needless to say I had to take it with me! Especially because this seems to be about Mozart’s sister Nannerl and as someone who was born and raised in Austria this is just too interesting not to pick it up! I am intrigued! XD

8.) „Legendborn“ by Tracy Deonn

55507414. sy475

There was a time when this book was all over my feed and I couldn’t escape it so I got really curious and wanted to read „Legendborn“ as well. Thankfully my library finally got a copy of it and I went for it as soon as I found out. (Sorry to everyone who wanted to preorder it, I was really fast. ;-P) As far as I could gather from a couple of reviews this is some sort of arthurian retelling and I always dig them so yep, I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one too.

9.) „Nick and Charlie“ by Alice Oseman

56951957. sy475

This is probably one of the few books of Alice Oseman I still haven’t read. I mean I read almost all of her books by now and I just love them so damn much! (I still hope to get my hands on one of those amazing book cases that has all the books in it. XD I’m sure it will happen one day!) I’m kinda worried about picking this one up though because it’s about Nick and Charlie going seperate ways and I just don’t want them to. *lol* I only want them to be happy and I dunno if I’ll get this in here so yeah… I guess I’ll just have to read it to find out. Please have mercy, Alice!

10.) „Call Down the Hawk“ by Maggie Stiefvater

31373184

So technically I already started to read the first chapter of this book and I’m once again blown away by Maggie’s writing style. I forgot how much I love her lyrical and magical approach of things. ❤ Ahhh! Honestly I could have marked about a million quotes in the prologue alone! I know I’m going to love this and I’m so ready to dive even deeper into the book! I’m going to cherish every single word. =)

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books are on your summer TBR? Did you read any of the books on my list or do we have some in common? Does it always take you so long to pick up anticipated books as well? Do you borrow books from your library or do you buy them? And the most important question of them all: Do you want to participate in my #Klunealong?

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Was SO EXCITED to Get, but Still Haven’t Read

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books I Was SO EXCITED to Get, but Still Haven’t Read (bonus points if you tell us how long it’s been since you got them!) Haha! That’s like the perfect TTT topic for me. Oh boy, I’m going to call myself out now. XD

1.) „Wayward Son“ by Rainbow Rowell

44017627

I wanted to read this book ever since I knew it would come out and I bought it when it came out. So in 2019 I think. *lol* I have no idea why I still haven’t read it but I guess I can only blame it on me procrastinating big time. Because I love „Carry On“ so much and I’m kinda afraid it won’t live up to my expectations? But I really should read it because by now I even have „Any Way the Wind Blows“ and I want to know what all the fuss is about. XD

2.) „Queen of Air and Darkness“ by Cassandra Clare

13541056. sy475

I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with me but I wanted to read this book ever since I finished „Lord of Shadows“. I love Cassandra Clare as an author as well but somehow I still haven’t read this. I think once again I’m afraid of all the feels that will kill me once I open this. Especially after the ending of the second book. But I promised Catherine to read it this year and I’m planning to keep my promise so by the end of 2022 this will be read. 😉

3.) „Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World“ by Benjamin Alire Saenz

56980548

I got this ARC in October 2021 I think and I’m ashamed to admit that I still haven’t read this one. >_< I’m always waiting for the right time to pick it up and with all the stress at my work and private life it never felt like the right time to read it. BUT I will read it this year and I’m sure I’ll love it as well. =)

4.) „Call Down the Hawk“ by Maggie Stiefvater

31373184

I can’t believe that I put this on my TBR in 2017 and that I have it at home now but still haven’t read „Call Down the Hawk“!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!? There’s Ronan Lynch and Adam Parrish in this book!!! How come I still haven’t read this?! I’m kinda mad at myself now. *lol* But I’m also kinda scared to pick it up because ADKFASKDFAS „The Raven Cycle“ was so good and I want it to be at least as good, if that makes sense?

5.) „The Magicians“ by Lev Grossman

6101718

Okay, I think this is one of the series that’s been on my TBR for the longest. I put it on there after watching the tv series in 2015 so yeah. It’s been 7 years and I still haven’t read a single letter of this series. *lol* I’m horrible and this post definitely makes me realize how long it actually takes me to read the books I want to read. >_<

6.) „The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks“ by Mackenzi Lee

52934919. sx318 sy475

I first wrote about this book in October 2019 and back then I couldn’t wait to read it. Oh well, guess what? It’s still on my TBR and I still haven’t read it. *lol* Honestly, why am I like this? Still, I will read this book because I need to know how Percy, Monty and Felicity are doing. 😉 And I need to find out if Adrian is a nice guy. All good reasons to pick this up! 😉

7.) „The Fascinators“ by Andrew Eliopulos

48552059. sy475

„How am I supposed to keep my fingers away from this when they have the audacity to mention „The Raven Boys“ and „Simon vs.“ in one sentence?!? The answer is: I’m not supposed to! *lol*
This book goes straight to my TBR and I really hope that it will be able to keep its promise!“

That’s what I wrote about this book in September 2019! *lol* Oh boy, it’s been on my TBR for ages and I clearly need to change that!

8.) „The Voyages of Trueblood Cay“ by Suanne Laqueur

43594543. sy475

I put this on my TBR in 2020 and it’s about time I read it! I mean after I finished „An Exaltation of Larks“ I immediately wanted to read Suanne’s book but life got in my way again and again and I really feel like I need to read this soon! Maybe I should put some of those books on my 2023 TBR so that they will finally be read?! >_<

9.) „Devil’s Cut“ by J.R. Ward

31298946. sy475

Honestly!! I can’t believe it’s been over 5 years and I still don’t know how this trilogy ends!!! I was so ready to dive into the last book in 2017 and then there were so many new releases and now it’s been 5 years and I still don’t know how this series ends!! OMG! AHHH! Why??! Okay, this just has to go straight to my 2023 TBR! I can’t with myself! *lol*

10.) „The Wrath and the Dawn“ by Renee Ahdieh

18798983

So this is definitely one of the books that has been on my TBR the longest. I added it in 2017 when I joined goodreads and it’s been sitting on my TBR ever since. T_T Seriously, shame on me! This is such a beloved book and I can’t believe I still haven’t picked it up. Yep, this is so going on my 2023 TBR as well. *lol*

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books have been on your TBR for ages and which book were you super excited about but still haven’t read? Did you read any of the books on my list? Which book has been on your TBR for the longest? And what’s keeping you from reading the books you were so excited about? Are you procrastinating too? XD

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To (Submitted by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse)

I know I’m one week late with this T10T topic but last week my hubby tested positive and had to go into quarantine so our life was a little bit chaotic and totally upside down. XD To be confined at home during easter sucked. Yep… And with this said, let’s finally do this!

1.) Brandon Sanderson

21462006

I still haven’t read my first Brandon Sanderson book. I mean technically I started with „The Final Empire“ but I’m only about 10% in and can’t really say a lot about it yet. So yeah, for me Brandon Sanderson is still an author I haven’t read, but want to. 😉 (and am reading now?! *lol*)

2.) T.J. Klune

45047384. sy475

I swear, I so need to start reading TJ Klune’s books because everyone and their grandma is raving about them and they must be really good if so many people like them. I want to know if the hype is real and I’ll definitely read my first Klune book this year. Maybe it will even be „The House in the Cerulean Sea“. I’ve been dying to read that one for ages. XD

3.) Morgan Rhodes

12954620

This book and the entire series has been on my TBR AND on my book shelves for ages and I really need to get to it. I heard so many great things about this series and I also heard that you either love it or hate it. Since it was highly recommended to me by two people that know my taste in books because our reading tastes are similar I’m pretty sure I’ll love this. =)

4.) Lev Grossman

6101718

Another series that has been on my shelves for a very long time. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll like it or not, but I guess it’s about time to find out. The tv series was very intriguing so I’m hoping that the books will be good too. I guess the only way to find out if the author is for me or not is by reading the books, right?

5.) Anthony Doerr

18143977

I’m so going to read this book soon! Anthony Doerr has been on my radar for ages and „All The Light We Cannot See“ is definitely going to be the first book I’ll read that was written by him. By now I even placed it on my April TBR so I’ll hopefully get to it soon.

6.) Becky Chambers

25201920. sy475

Honestly, this series has been all over my Goodreads feed and so many people seem to read it. I’m very intrigued by the premise of the book and I’m also very curious about the author’s writing style. This seems to be a well-beloved series as well so I can’t wait to dive into it.

7.) Steven Salvatore

59541874. sy475

I think this book only got out in March and the author is a very new author. Their other book is „Can’t Take That Away“ and it was their debut which I also want to read and which is still on my TBR. *lol* So yeah, I haven’t read any of their books but I really want to get to them because they all sound so good! XD

8.) Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

This is another case of „I haven’t read any of the author’s books so far but I’m currently 10% into „Spinning Silver“. *lol* I think Naomi Novik is also one of those authors everyone knows and has read at least one book of. Well, not me! 10% baby! Haha! Anyway! I’ll finish this book sooner or later and then I can finally say I have read one of the author’s books. 😉

9.) Xiran Jay Zhao

57876191. sy475

So this author has been all over BookTube lately and everyone says you should read „Iron Widow“ because it’s so good. For a debut that’s actually quite something and I can’t wait to get a copy of this into my greedy hands. *lol* I’m looking forward to read about the strong female MC and apparently there’s even an LGBTQ+ element?! I’m ready!

10.) Emery Lee

59336008. sy475

This is legit one of my most anticipated reads for 2022, because what’s not to love?! An m/m enemies-to-lovers trope with lots of food?! Sign me up! I can’t wait to read this and if I liked it I might pick up the author’s other book as well. 😉 Wish me luck that this is going to be the foodie romance I craved for! XD

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which authors haven’t you read but really want to get to? Do we have some in common and if yes, which ones? Did you read any of the books on my list and did you enjoy them? Are there any well-beloved authors you still haven’t read and if yes why?! And are you a fan of debut books too?! (I love it, there’s nothing better than to discover a new amazing author!)

Talk to me and let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Spring 2022 TBR

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books On My Spring 2022 TBR

1.) Pet – Akwaeke Emezi

43568395

I have absolutely no idea what this book is about but it made it on my March TBR because apparently it has a LGBTQ+ rep and a lot of my favourite bloggers loved it. =) I’m always ready to find new and interesting books and the blurb sounds very mysterious so here I am.

2.) The Silvered Serpents – Roshani Chokshi

52796733. sy475

I’ve been dying to read „The Silvered Serpents“ after I finished „The Gilded Wolves“ and even went as far as to make a NetGalley account in order to request an ARC. Unfortunately my request was denied and I was very heartbroken about it. After about two years I finally bought the book though and I’m so ready to dive into it! My precious babies are waiting for me! ❤

3.) Blue Flag – Kaito

51086632. sx318 sy475

This sounds super interesting and I can’t remember the last time I ever read a LGBTQAI+ manga! I mean apparently there is a love quadrangle and probably some m/f, f/f and m/m action in here?! Honestly, I don’t need more than that! I’m sure I’ll love this! =)

4.) Almond – Won-pyung Sohn

55338962

I started to read this for my #Koreadathon participation and I’m really enjoying it. Katja – one of my favourite BookTubers – and I decided to read this for the „read a book recommended by a Korean celebrity“ prompt, because RM as well as SUGA from BTS read this in their show „In the Soop“! I’m halfway into the book right now and it’s very good so far.

5.) Spinning Silver – Naomi Novik

42941939. sy475

I’ve heard people rave about this book for ages and got curious enough to finally pick it up! *lol* Also this is a Rumpelstiltskin retelling and I love my Rumpelstiltskin! XD I only managed to read about 10% so far, but the little I read has me intrigued and I can’t wait to see where this story will head.

6.) The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson

21462006

And here comes another beloved series! Everyone is talking about Brandon Sanderson and after four years of people constantly raving about him I finally decided to give his books a try. I mean this is high fantasy so it will probably take a while to get used to the world building. It’s been ages I fell for a fantasy world though so I’m kinda ready to be swept off my feet! Brando Sando do your worst! 😉

7.) Children of Virtue and Vengeance – Tomi Adeyemi

40106539. sy475

I think I read „Children of Blood and Bone“ about two years ago and enjoyed it. There were some weaknesses but the story was still interesting enough for me to want to know how it continues. Plus I want to know if my ship will sail. XD I doubt it, but oh well, you can always hope right?

8.) Sorcery of Thorns – Margaret Rogerson

43279080. sy475

I only just started with this book but I’m already finished! Yeah, I read this like nobody’s business and I regret NOTHING! Oh, well, okay there is something I regret: That there is no second book!!! Like seriously!!?? How can this be a standalone!? Why is there no book two?? I loved absolutely everything about this book and I need more! Forever heartbroken that this isn’t a series! T_T

9.) The Fever King – Victoria Lee

39897058

This book has been on my TBR for ages and I finally preordered it at my library! Magic, two boys that are rivals but fall for each other, high stakes, a tragic background story and a viral magic outbreak? Do I even need to say more? This sounds like it will be right up my alley and I can’t wait to dive into it once it arrives! =)

10.) Empire of the Vampire – Jay Kristoff

43728380. sy475

I wanted to read this ever since I first read Jay Kristoff’s review about it. *lol* Jay definitely has a way with words and everything he spoke about in his review screamed „READ ME“! XD Also am I the only one who loves the fact that the title rhymes? I mean „Empire of the Vampire“! The title alone is brilliant. Not to mention the amazing cover art! AHHH! I’m so going for this one in spring! ❤

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which books do you want to read in spring? Do we have some in common and if yes, which ones? Did you read any of the books on my list and did you enjoy them? Are you taking part in some of the many amazing readathons out there? Did you know that the #Koreadathon exists and did you ever take part in one?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤
