Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023! Well, today’s actual topic would have been: „Top Ten Quick Reads/Books to Read When Time is Short“ but the topic didn’t really resonate with me and last week I was just too busy and therefore too late to participate in Top Ten Tuesday so I decided I’d go for last weeks topic today instead! I discovered so many great new authors in 2023, it would have been a shame not to do this post! XD

1.) KT Salvo with „Idol Minds“

I think I already raved so much about KT Salvo’s Idol series on here, but as it seems I never get tired of doing so, so here I am once again, telling you how much I love KT Salvo’s books! *lol* If you want to read a great m/m k-pop/k-drama book series with amazing character arcs and awesome side-characters this series is for you! And if you ever watched a k-drama or fell in love with a k-pop ship like Taekook and were like: Damn, I’d really love to read/see a relationship between two male idols, search no more!! That’s it! 😉

2.) Ali Hazelwood with „The Love Hypothesis“

Yeah, I know! Y’all are probably going to think: „What?! How can Ali Hazelwood be a new to you author?“ But she actually was last year! I didn’t give into the hype for a very long time and the only reason I picked up „The Love Hypothesis“ was because I put it on my TBR and because my sister raved about Ali’s books so much. *lol* I’m happy to say that by now I also read „Love on the Brain“ and both books were funny, cute and great so I’m not mad about picking up Hazelwood’s books! Her formular for the STEMinist books seems to be the same with every book, though. (huge, gigantic, handsome scientist falls in love with a tiny little faerie scientist and they are enemies before they start to work together and become lovers) But that’s okay, as long as I’m entertained I don’t have a problem with that formular and so far Ali managed to keep me engaged. *lol*

3.) Becky Chambers with „The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet“

Okay, this time even I’m surprised because I didn’t think that I only discovered Becky Chambers last year! But my statistics don’t lie, so it is the way it is. I’m very glad I picked up „The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet“ because this book was so interesting and wholesome! The world building is really amazing and for a sci-fi book series this also has so much heart! ❤ Plust we have a diverse cast including many LGBTQIA+ characters and characters from different planets. I really enjoyed this book so much and I can’t wait to get the second one in my greedy hands soon. XD

4.) Andrew Joseph White with „Hell Followed With Us“

This book was the biggest surprise of 2023 and after reading „Hell Followed With Us“ which ended up being my favourite book of the entire year I honestly can’t wait to read Andrew Joseph White’s next book! I’m sure it will be amazing too! There’s just somehing about the way this book was written, all the queer rage, the many different LGBTQIA+ reps, the diverse characters that fight for their lives and their existence while always staying true to themselves! Plus we have a trans masc MC and the other MC is autistic and this in a dystopian end-of-the-world kinda setting! If you can’t handle gore or blood, I would recommend you to stay away from the book, though, because it gets very gory, indeed. Just a heads-up for the faint hearted among you! 😉

5.) T. Kingfisher with „What Moves the Dead“

I’ve heard so much about T. Kingfisher already, but I’ve never read a Kingfisher book before last year! When I heard there was going to be a retelling of „The Fall of the House of Usher“ I just had to pick it up and the fact the book was so short only made it easier to find out if her books are for me. Well, I’m happy to say they are! 😀 Kingfisher is a horror author but it’s horror I can actually read and I’m very thankful for that! So yep, this definitely won’t be my last book of her and I’m sure I’ll pick up another one soon!

6.) Susanna Clarke with „Piranesi“

For a while „Piranesi“ was all over my feed and so many of my fellow BookTuber friends raved about it that I got curious enough to finally pick it up, too! Turns out I really enjoyed this short book and was totally invested in the story! It was very unique and something totally different than I usually read and the setting as well as the atmosphere and the MC were great! It might be a slow storyline, but to discover the world Piranesi lives in and to find out more about his character was so worth it! I loved it and I’m very curious what Susanna Clarke is going to write next!

7.) Chani Lynn Feener with „Between the Devil and the Sea“

This was such an impulse read but I regret NOTHING. Or well, maybe I do?! *lol* I still have such mixed feelings about this book because at parts it made me feel really uncomfortable since it’s basically a m/m romance with dubious consent. I mean we follow a detective who’s sent to another planet in order to investigate a series of gruesome murders and he somehow ends up being the killers new obsession. Still, I never read a truly dark romance before so I was curious and figured I might just read one and find out if the genre is for me or not. Well, I read the book in less than 24 hours and just had to know what would happen next! I was basically obsessed, but I honestly still dunno if dark romance is my genre. *lol* All I know is that I’m pretty certain this wasn’t the last Chani Lynn Feener book I ever read and I’m sure there are other books of her out there I might feel less conflicted about?! I dunno, but I’m willing to find out. XD

8.) Aiden Thomas with „Cemetery Boys“

Aiden Thomas is also one of those authors I just discovered last year! Sometimes it takes me a while to get to the good stuff and it was the same thing here! I heard a lot about „Cemetery Boys“ and everyone was raving about it, but I just never got around to read the book. Well, not until last year and I’m honestly so mad at myself for only discovering the author in 2023! But as they say: Better late than never, right?! 😉 Yadriel and Julian were just too cute and I loved that we got so much latinx and brujx culture as well! And before you ask: I already put „The Sunbearer Trials“ on my TBR!

9.) M.L Wang with „The Sword of Kaigen“

Now this book was a revelation!! And I mean it! I’ve never seen a high fantasy tale spun the way M.L. Wang did it and I loved this story so much it’s kinda crazy! It felt like Wang took all the things that usually make an epic fantasy book and just turned them upside down! But it worked and the fact the two MCs were actually a mother and her son was only one of the many things that were unytpical for a fantasy book! The character arcs were amazing! The fighting scenes had me at the edge of my seat! I even cried buckets of tears while I read the book, so yeah! It was quite a journey and I definitely want to read more of M.L. Wang’s books!

10.) Caylan MacRae with „Cutting Your Teeth“

I requested an ARC of this book on NetGalley because the premise sounded way too good! It was basically pitched as „All for the Game“ meets vampires and boy, did it deliver! The interesting thing is, there are some similarities, in the way that Ezra is hunted like Neil, but this story could totally stand on it’s own and it developed into an entirely different direction! Which I absolutely loved! Ezra and Killian have a very slow-burn relationship as well and I was extremely happy about that! I dunno if there’s going to be a second book, but I’m looking forward to reading more of MacRae’s work!

Rankenzeile

So what about you? Which new-to-you authors did you discover last year? Did you read any of the books I just mentioned and if yes, did you enjoy them? Am I the only one who’s always late with reading books written by already popular authors? And if not, which popular author haven’t you read yet and why?!

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday: Water

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: Water (This can be covers with water on them, books with bodies of water in them, titles with bodies of water in them, etc.) Why not all of the above?! *lol* Let’s see if I can find 10 books with the topic of water. XD

1.) „Piranesi“ by Susanna Clarke

I only recently finished this book and it was amazing! Plus it plays in a huge house with an ocean in the lower levels and that ocean has tides and sometimes floods the rooms and halls of the house. There are all sorts of sea animals and creatures as well and an albatross lives in one of the halls, so I think I can definitely go with this as a book with „water“. Sea water but water nonetheless! 😉

2.) „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ by T.J. Klune

We don’t just have water in the book cover but the entire book actually plays on an island. The fact that the house is so secluded on that island plays an important part for the kids that live there and the ocean doesn’t just protect them but also kinda separates them from the main land and the people there. So the sea in here is some sort of a mixed blessing. It’s interesting how water has a very palpable effect on the plot here.

3.) „House of Salt and Sorrows“ by Erin A. Craig

I absolutely loved the setting in here. A manor by the sea, 12 girls, 4 of them already dead due to mysterious reasons and one of them trying to find out what exactly happened before the next one of them dies. I’m always a happy camper when I can read a retelling and this retelling of „The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes“ was amazing. The atmosphere, the splendid ball nights, the mystery of how the older sisters died. It was creepy, it was eerie, it was good. 🙂

4.) „Dry“ by Neal & Jarrod Shusterman

I can already hear people’s thoughts wondering why I chose „Dry“ for a top 10 list that focuses on water. Well, because as weird as it might sound, this books focus is solely on water! The people in here don’t have any water left anymore, it’s the worst drought in California and people are literally fighting for the last sips of water. It shows how fast everything can escalate once things get dire and how egoistic and savage people can be once they fight for their survival. This was great and I still think about this book!

5.) „Into the Drowning Deep“ by Mira Grant

Killer sirens in the deep blue sea! Do I have to say more? I read this last year during my one month long readathon #Rainboween (I’m going to host it in October this year too so stick around to find out more!) and I had a field day reading this story! There wasn’t only an LGBTQIA+ rep, but the sirens and the science we got was awesome. To read this felt like watching a horror movie and I lived and breathed for it! Honestly such a good surprise! And the suspense!! So good! XD

6.) „The Lies of Locke Lamora“ by Scott Lynch

Okay, hear me out! Camorr, the city in which this book plays is quite literally an island! The entire story gave me such a Venice vibe and I really loved to read about the „Gentleman Bastards“ because they were such a found family! Camorr is surrounded by water so because of that we get a lot of water action in addition to the amazing plot and the interesting thieves as well. I loved Locke and his band of brothers and by now I already read book 2 and want to get to book 3. Highly recommend that one!

7.) „V Games“ by Caroline Peckham

It’s been a while I last read „V Games“ but it was the first book that got me interested in Caroline Peckham’s books and I really like her stories! I mean this series is basically „The Hunger Games“ meets „Buffy the Vampire Slayer“ and „Resident Evil“. *lol* It was great and it plays on a barren island in the North Sea which automatically qualifies it to be a book with water. 😉 I really liked this one and I read the entire series pretty fast. I still need to get to Caroline’s other books. By now there are quite a lot.

8.) „The Swarm“ by Frank Schätzing

Not many people know this but when I was a young teen I actually wanted to become a marine biologist and to read this book only made the sea even more intriguing. This entire story plays on a ship and accompanies different scientists that try to find out why the creatures of the sea are acting up and attacking humans. This book was fascinating and I loved to read all the different POVs. I know this story has almost 1.000 pages but there was never a dull moment. Yep, it was that good!

9.) „Flut“ by Wolfgang Hohlbein

If I remember it correctly I read this book in the summer I was 13 and I still remember how it was one of the hottest summers ever, but it didn’t feel like that for me. Because I was reading this book and it was about rain, hard rain that never stopped and flooded the entire world. I was so immersed in this story that I actually felt cold and could feel the rain on my skin. Wolfgang Hohlbein was among the first fantasy authors I ever read and he definitely nourished my love for fantasy. It was a great read so if you are able to read in German I would highly recommend this story about the end of the world.

10.) „To Kill a Kingdom“ by Alexandra Christo

A blood thirsty, intelligent siren that lures princes and collects their hearts for sport? Yes, please! But Lira isn’t all we get, we also get a prince who hunts sirens that kill humans and wants revenge! I swear Prince Elian and Princess Lira were quite the pair and I loved their banter and how they fell in love with each other. This was a great „enemies to lovers“ trope and delivered on all fronts. Also I really liked the mutual respect those two had for each other. They might have been enemies at first but they respected each others skills. Do I even need to say that this plays in the sea? Nope. It’s kinda self-explanatory, right?! ;-P

So what about you? Which books with water made it on your list? Did you concentrate on a certain water related subject or did you go crazy like me and just thought „Everything with water will do.“? Do we have some books in common? Was it easy for you to find books with water?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤

Review: Piranesi (Susanna Clarke)

Rating: 4,5 Pfoten

”The Beauty of the House is immeasurable; it’s Kindness infinite.”

Sometimes there are books you don’t want to talk about, because going into them blind is the best thing you can do. Knowing more than necessary would ruin the experience and take away from the fun so all you can do is to stick to the blurb and be as vague as possible. Well, “Piranesi” is one of those books. I honestly tried to find out more about this story before I went into it but the entire bookish community seems to have decided not to spoil anything and looking at it in retrospective, I’m very grateful for it. So thank you to everyone who made it impossible to know more about “Piranesi” than the facts that are already written on the blurb.

”I have known for many years that the Other does not revere the House the same way I do, but it still shocks me when he talks like this. How can a man as intelligent as him say there is nothing alive in the House? The Lower Halls are full of sea creatures and vegetation, many of them very beautiful and very strange. The Tides themselves are full of movement and power so that, while they may not exactly be alive, neither are they not-alive. In the Middle Halls are birds and men…”

I think I’m going to join the majority of readers here and won’t talk all too much about the plot, what I can tell you though is that I loved every second of this story and it sort of put a magical spell on me. Whenever I couldn’t read the book because I was busy doing other things, I felt an urge to pick it up again and to continue reading. I just had to know what would happen next and I was driven by this almost compulsory thirst for knowledge. I honestly don’t know how to describe this special brand of reading experience but it definitely was something new for me. The fact the entire book is written in journal entries from Piranesi’s POV added so much character to the story and the reader is right there with the MC, trying to solve a mystery neither the reader nor Prianesi were aware of when the book began. It’s quite the journey, to be honest.

”The House is valuable because it is the House. It is enough in and of itself. It is not the means to an end.”

I’m kind of fighting against myself here because I don’t want to spoil anything, yet at the same time I really want to talk about this amazing book. XD Sometimes being a reader can be difficult, but for the greater good and the sake of all the readers after me, I will just suck it up and not talk about “Piranesi” all too much. I know, I know, I usually write super long reviews so this is extremely hard for me, but this time around I’ll just take one for the team, no matter how much it pains me. XD

What I will say, is that I absolutely loved Piranesi as a character and that I adored his child-like nature and the way he saw things. It was beautiful to see this new and strange world though his eyes and to experience how much attention he gave every detail. Piranesi truly cared about the House and I think it’s safe to assume that the House cared about him too. They were a unit and they were both innocent and pure at heart, which might be the reason they worked together so well and had formed some sort of symbiosis. Their interaction was fascinating and extremely lovely to read about. I know this might sound like the house is a character as well and truth be told, for me it actually was. The House is the House and it is. If that makes any sense?! Probably only to the people who read the book.

”The Beauty of the House is immeasurable; it’s Kindness infinite.”

I don’t want to say more, because this is one of those rare books you have to read and experience for yourself. So I’ll do us all a favour and finish this painfully inconclusive review here, giving it my best shot to end it on a high note:

Mysterious, compelling, refreshingly unique, whimsical, innocent, fascinating and remarkable. “Piranesi” was one of a kind and a story that will stay with me for a long time. If you haven’t read this book yet and enjoy magical realism with a dash of mysterious fantasy, do yourself a favour and pick it up. You won’t regret it. 😉

SASSY Saturday

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to another round of my montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

All you have to do is to follow those three golden rules:

1. Credit the creator of this tag (The Sassy Library Fox) and link back. (so I can see all your amazing answers!)
2. Answer the 5 questions below!
3. AND enjoy doing the blog meme! 😛

„SASSY Saturday“ is planned to be a monthly meme but if you want to do it more often feel free to go for it! This meme was created to get to know other bloggers, their new obsessions and to reflect on your own last month! Above all it was created to have fun though! 😉 If you want you can also use the banner I created! This said let’s head to the good part:

S – Series you loved this month

Hospital Playlist: Christy Luis was hosting a #Ktropeathon in July and one of the events was to buddy watch „Hospital Playlist“ together and to exchange thoughts. I’ve heard so much about this k-drama already so I wanted to take part in the watchalong and it was so damn good!!! Seriously, this series had me crying in every single episode but at the same time it’s also hilarious and has such lovely MCs! Those 5 friends go through thick and thin and whenver they act crazy together I was like: Ahh that’s me and my besties. I love that it are four male MCs and one female one, because their dynamics are great! Plus outside of the hospital they play in a band together and that music aspect makes this even more fun. XD Highly recommended if you want to watch a k-drama with #friendshipgoals and music in it as well.

A – Author you discovered

Susanna Clarke – „Piranesi“

I discovered so many new and awesome authors in July, but Susanna Clarke definitely deserves a spotlight! This book was amazing and even though it started so slow and was confusing at first, Piranesi totally grew on me! The ending and the build up were done so well! Like seriously! I closed the final page of this book and was like: *takes a deep breath* I honestly can’t wait to read more of Susanna Clarke and I’ll definitely watch out for her next book. 😀

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Jung Kook – Seven

I’ve been listening to this song ever since it came out and I love it! Though I’ve to admit that I’m more a fan of the normal version. XD This song is just great and Jung Kook is amazing! I think he’s been breaking records ever since the single got out and it’s all so well deserved! Love my boy! I swear no matter what BTS touches, it always becomes gold! I can’t go wrong with my 7 boys, I’ll always love every single music piece they release! ❤

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

Well, July was quite the month so I had a couple of bad surprises, but also some really good ones. One of the bad surprises was the death of a really close and dear family member who will be sorely missed. =(  Yet at the same time I got a new job and how I got it was really surprising because I applied, went to the job interview and the next day I got the „acceptance“ call. So I basically got that job in the span of 4,5 days. XD Which is a new record, even for me. My co-workers are so lovely and nice and I already had my first week in the new job so I’m happy things went that well. =) But yeah, I honestly didn’t expect to find a new job so fast, so this was definitely a really positive surprise!

Y – Your fave blog post of another blogger

„10 YA Beach Reads To Add To Your TBR“ by Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books

I’m always so bad at reading other bloggers posts but I’m honestly trying to do better and Marie’s post was great! As a reader it’s so important to get lists like this one and to find out about new books you probably never even heard of. So thank you Marie for creating lists like this one! They are highly appreciated! ❤

Rankenzeile

What do you think about „SASSY Saturday“? Would you like to join the fun? Which new authors did you discover last month and can you recommend them? What surprised you in July and which song caused you to dance like crazy?! Did you listen to „Seven“ too and if yes, do you like Jungkook’s new song?

Talk to me and let me know! 😉

And as always, stay healthy and safe!

July Wrap-Up

Wrap Up

July was… a challenging month. Not just for me but also for my family. 😦 As some of you might know my educational sabbatical ended at the end of June. So that meant I had to go job hunting and needed to sort out a lot of things with the employment office as well. Due to this I spent the first half of July with job interviews and appointments to get everything on track. At the same time the health of one of my family members who was near and dear to me got worse and worse and my family and I expected to get „that certain call“ each and every single day. >_<

So in the end I got a new job but I also lost a very close and dear family member in the middle of July. After that I decided to take a break from social media, not just because I needed to cope with the loss myself but also because I wanted to be there for my family when they needed me the most. It was a hard time for all of us and we’re still trying our best to cope with it. It will get better but at the moment it’s all fresh. So yeah, that’s why I didn’t post regularly on here in July and why my blog schedule got totally out of control. Family and friends always come first. Period.

Because of all of that I actually thought that I wouldn’t be able to read or finish any books but apparently I’m really a stress reader because even though I only finished 2 books by the middle of July I somehow managed to read 3 more until the end of the month. The last three books were totally different to what I usually read and one of them was extremely out of my comfort zone, but I read them and it somehow worked for me?! Maybe my brain just needed that to cope with everything. I dunno.

Anyway! Let’s end this wrap up on a positive note and not dwell on the negative and sad things. Life is too short. We should enjoy every second and focus on the good things, like for instance: the books I read in July! 😉

Books read: 5 (5 books & 0 webcomic, I should rather go for AFTG fanfic here because I’m reading way to many of those fanfics. *lol*)

Pages read: 1.841 (Not that bad considering 3 of those books were pretty short.)

Average rating: 4,2 (I had such a good reading month! 😀 )

Books that were on my reading list: 2 ( 0 from 2021, 1 from 2022 and 1 from 2023. I’m finally back on track with my TBR lists!)

July Reads:

Heartstopper – Volume 4: 5 Pfoten

This Volume was great and I absolutely loved that its focus was on mental health and how Charlie’s troubles didn’t only affect him, but also the people in his life.  Alice Oseman did an amazing job with this one and I’m already looking forward to Volume 5. I’m sure it will be amazing too. I wrote an entire review about this volume so if you want to read it just follow the link above! 😀

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It: 4 Pfoten

I read this one as a buddy read with Bea @ Mama Needs To Read Romance and we had such a blast! We both had to laugh so much whenever we sent each other voice messages about the book! I swear Finlay really got in a lot of trouble in this book. *lol* It was hilarious, crazy but so, so much fun. Haha! Especially the dynamic between Finlay and Vero was … quite something. XD Bea and I enjoyed our buddy read so much that we decided to read the entire series together, so the next chaotic buddy read of book two is going to happen in September! *lol* I can’t wait!!!! ❤

Piranesi: 4,5 Pfoten

This book was so good!!! I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy this story so much when I started to read it, but „Piranesi“ was amazing! Piranesi himself is such a precious soul and he needs to be protected at all costs! ❤ And the book is so short! The edition I read had only 245 pages, but they packed such a punch! I’m not surprised it was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award because this story was unique and so well crafted! If you haven’t read this one yet you definitely should! I’ll make sure to write a proper review about it once I have a little bit more time. 😉

The Stationery Shop of Tehran: 3 Pfoten

„The Stationery Shop of Tehran“ was another buddy read with a fellow BookTuber and Rachael @ Rachaels Reading Nook and I read it in July. Well, until I had to drop out of our buddy read because I needed to take some time off of social media due to a death in my family.  😦 I finished the book by myself at the ending of July and even though I enjoyed it, I can’t really give it more than 3 paws. I had a couple of issues and I want to explore them in a full review. So stay tuned, I suppose? ;-P

Between the Devil and the Sea: 4,5 Pfoten

I can’t believe I’m going to rate this book so highly but here are the facts: It was totally out of my comfort zone, I read it in less than 24 hours because I was so DAMN hooked, one of the MCs (Apollo) isn’t even morally grey, if anything he’s morally black, there are a million of trigger warnings and even though I was nausteated, disgusted and angry on Shade’s behalf I still couldn’t stop reading. And for some weird and inexplicable reason I actually shipped them at the end?!! I’m confused! This was dark, this was horrible, this was wrong, this was good?! I’m questioning my sanity. I’m a mess. Damn! I hope to write a review about it will help me to understand why I actually gave this 4,5 paws. I should have hated this with every fibre of my heart but I didn’t. O_o

This said: How was your July? Did you read many books? Am I the only stress reader? I hope your July was better than mine and that you didn’t have all too much stress. Which books did you read and can you send some recs my way? Did you already read some of the books I read last month? And if yes, did you enjoy them?

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Spring 2023 To-Read List

TTT was created by The Broke and Bookish and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl (click here for upcoming TTT topics!).

Today’s Topic is: : Books on My Spring 2023 To-Read List (Let’s just put every book I’m currently reading on it and take it from there *lol*)

1.) „Delilah Green Doesn’t Care“ by Ashley Herring Blake

A big city girl returning to her hometown in order to photograph her sisters wedding. Make it f/f and I’m so here for the ride. *lol* I only just started with this book but it really sounds great and a lot of people seem to have enjoyed it. Also it’s one of the few f/f books I heard about and since I want to read more of them I just had to pick this one up. Very curious how Delilah and Claire will find to each other. And even more curious to find out if the rep will be good. =)

2.) „Flash Fire“ by T.J. Klune

I absolutely loved the first book „The Extraordinaries“ and I’m so pumped for book two. I can’t wait to see what Nicky will be up to in „Flash Fire“. I missed him and his antics and I’m sure book two will be as funny as the first one. I swear, I laughed tears when I read book one and I’m so ready to see even more of those superheroes. Plus the ending of the first book!!! I need to know what happens next!!

3.) „Call Down the Hawk“ by Maggie Stiefvater

I’ve started this book so many months ago but still haven’t finished it. Not because I don’t want to but because Maggie’s writing style is so beautiful I just want to savour it. Maggie’s prose makes me want to relish every sentence and this is a real problem because it’s partly responsible for me barely making progress. Haha! I blame it all on Maggie! But I really want to read and finish „Call Down the Hawk“ this spring so I’ll pick it up more often and stop procrastinating. I mean it’s Ronan and Adam, my two precious boys! ❤

4.) „Winter“ by Marissa Meyer

Another book I’ve had on my „currently reading“ for a while and I really want to read it. It’s the last book of „The Lunar Chronicles“ and I’ve been procrastinating way too much. *lol* All of my favourite characters will be together in this one and I just don’t want this series to end. This spring it’s time to finish the series, though. I’m ready to read the last book, even if it will make me sad. Cinder and the others need to get their happy ending! XD

5.) „Queen of Air and Darkness“ by Cassandra Clare

Ha! Another last book in a series! Do you see a trend here? Because I sure as hell do! *lol* Why am I like that and never want to finish series? >_< I love all those characters! At this point the Blackthorns are basically my adopted family! And Marc and Kieran and Christina!?! ARGH! I love them so much! Kit and Ty! Julian and Emma! Why didn’t I pick this up yet?! I will finish this series this spring because I need to KNOW! But the pain. Ahhh… I’m still not ready for the pain. T_T

6.) „Bloodmarked“ by Tracy Deonn

I loved „Legendborn“ when I read it last year and absolutely fell in love with this world and Selwyn Kane! ❤ Seriously, Sel is amazing! So I was more than just a little happy when I found this book in my library! I have about a month to read it and I’m so going to do just that. I think I’ll have to write my review about „Legendborn“ first though. Kinda makes sense before I go for the next one, right? =)

7.) „Piranesi“ by Susanna Clarke

For a while everyone on BookTube was raving about this book and after reading the blurb I’m very intrigued. I have no idea what will await me when I read this story, but it sounds like something I might enjoy. The house and setting in which „Piranesi“ plays kinda gives me „The Starless Sea“ vibes an I loved this book so much. So I hope I’ll enjoy this one as well. *fingers crossed*

8.) „Winter’s Orbit“ by Everina Maxwell

I’ve been dying to read „Winter’s Orbit“ ever since I read about it for the first time! I even requested an ARC on NetGalley about two years ago, but unfortunately ended up being declined. So I decided I’d read this book whenever I could get my greedy hands on it. Well, I got it now and I’m so going to read the hell out of it because this isn’t just m/m but also plays in space and there are many court intrigues as well. I already love the premise of this story so let’s hope I’ll enjoy it too. XD

9.) „Loveless“ by Alice Oseman

This is one of the few Alice Oseman books I haven’t read yet and since it’s supposed to have an ace rep I’m totally ready to dive into it. Aro/ace reps are still so rare and I love Alice for always giving us exactly the kind of LGBTQIA+ content we want and need to see in our books! Totally ready to read „Loveless“ and to enjoy another one of Alice Oseman’s amazing books. =)

10.) „She Gets the Girl“ by Rachael Lippincott & Alyson Derrick

And here I go with another f/f book! I have no idea what „She Gets The Girl“ is about but literally everybody in the LGBTQIA+ community who read it was raving about it. The only thing I know is that two girls who want to get the attention of their crushes make a deal to help each other out.  Sounds a lot like „10 Things I Hate About You“ and I love this movie so much! Also the cover is gorgeous and immediately captured my interest. I borrowed this one from my library as well so I better get to it soon before I have to return it again.

So what about you? Which books are you going to read in spring? Do we have some in common? Am I the only one who has troubles to finish series or do you have the same problem? Are you procrastinating too much as well? Which kind of genre do you want to read more in?

Talk to me and let me know!

And as always take care and stay healthy and safe! ❤
