SASSY Saturday

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to another round of my montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

All you have to do is to follow those three golden rules:

1. Credit the creator of this tag (The Sassy Library Fox) and link back. (so I can see all your amazing answers!)
2. Answer the 5 questions below!
3. AND enjoy doing the blog meme! 😛

„SASSY Saturday“ is planned to be a monthly meme but if you want to do it more often feel free to go for it! This meme was created to get to know other bloggers, their new obsessions and to reflect on your own last month! Above all it was created to have fun though! 😉 If you want you can also use the banner I created! This said let’s head to the good part:

S – Series you loved this month

The Walking Dead: I’ve finally started to watch „The Walking Dead“ this month and boy, there’s a lot to catch up to. To start this series from season 1 is a commitment but for some reason I totally missed out on it when it was popular, so when I saw it’s on Netflix I couldn’t help but check it out. And I’m loving it so far. It’s great to see the human aspect of the series and I’m honestly not surprised that a lot of the problems the survivors have come from other survivors. You’d think to fight against a horde of dead people would be a priority but nope, humans do what they always did, they steal, they hurt and they kill each other. *shakes head* Very curious how this will continue. It’s definitely realistic, though.

Shadow and Bone – Season 2: I was so ready to dive into season two and I both enjoyed it and didn’t?! I absolutely loved the new cast and Nikolai, Tolya, Tamar and Wylan are amazing. Wesper is my favourite Crows ship so ahhh I got a lot of that in this season. The entire world is going to hell and Wesper are just flirting their way through all the episodes. *lol* Loved that! BUT and this is a huge but, they changed so many things and I don’t think they changed it for the better. By now it feels like this has nothing to do with the original SaB or SoC anymore. I get it, they had to adjust some things to squeeze those two different series together but uff. It’s one thing to adjust and another to change the most important things. So yeah, not really happy how far it all steered away from the original. For me this is a completely new series now and the characters are only loosely based on the original series. If I see it that way, I can deal with it. I did the same with „The Vampire Diaries“ so I guess I’ll do that now too. >_<

A – Author you discovered

Ashley Herring Blake – „Delilah Green Doesn’t Care“

I’ve seen a lot of other bookstagrammers mention this book as a great f/f read and since I wanted to dive deeper into f/f books for a long time I just decided to go for it when I saw it in my library. And tell you what?! I loved it! This was great and it was finally a f/f relationship that was done well and I could feel the tension and cuteness! I kinda wish there would be YA books like that too. I mean both of the characters in here are already thirty. So grown adults. They have a lot of serious topics going on so the cuteness couldn’t be that carefree. Herring Blake definitely gave me hope that there can be amazing, realistic and sweet f/f reps in this world though and I’ll just try my best to watch out for them now. =)

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Jimin – Set Me Free Pt.2

I was so ready for Jimin’s EP „Face“ and boy, it’s amazing! I really love the entire vibe of his new songs and „Set Me Free Pt.2“ is great! Alone the dancing!! Wow! „Like Crazy“ goes in an entirely different direction but is at leas as danceable as the first one. I’m so impressed with Jimin, I can’t even! Love all his new songs and instantly bought the entire EP. ❤

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That I actually managed to finish „The Three Musketeers“! This book was huge and I started it in February with a bunch of other readers for a readalong. Needless to say I couldn’t keep up the pace with them and therefore decided to take it into March. *lol* I said I’d finish it by the end of the month and yesterday I read the last page and put it on finished on my Goodreads. On the 31st of March. Haha! That was a precision landing. XD

It’s awesome and I’ve been following it for years. 😉

S – Series you loved this month

I watched a lot of seriers at the beginning of the month because I had holidays, was ill and couldn’t do anything except of watching TV. Guess it also helped that all of them were pretty short ones. XD

Wednesday: Now this series was quite the surprise! I didn’t expect the dark academia and mystery vibe it had going and I absolutely loved that Wednesday went to a school full of vampires, werewolves, etc. Plus, can we talk about the amazing soundtrack? It added so much to the atmosphere of the show and I was such a happy camper. I’ve to admit that I guessed the culprit, though. My inner Sherlock had a field day with this series and I can’t wait to watch season two. ❤

Emily in Paris – Season 3: I’ve watched up until season 2 and decided I might as well finally catch up on „Emily in Paris“ and even though I enjoyed it, it didn’t quite hit the mark as much as the first two seasons. Emily’s life is still one hell of a confusing mess and this time around her friends lives weren’t any better. I mean I really enjoyed the series but boy, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! I have thoughts, guys! Thoughts! And if anyone of you watched it please talk to me! XD

The Witcher: Another series I finally decided to continue. I loved the first season and this one was at least as good as the first one. ❤ Henry Cavill is the perfect Witcher and this series works so well with him. I’m very curious what the next season will hold and how everything is going to continue.

A – Author you discovered

Adib Khorram – „Darius the Great Is Not Okay“

I read a lot of already known to me authors in January so the only new author turned out to be Adib Khorram! I totally enjoyed to read „Darius the Great“ though! It was a really interesting book with a lot of info about Iran and Persian culture and I really liked how the author managed to include all this info into his book. It was very effortlessly and just went along with the plot. I’m definitely planning to read another book of Adib Khorram soon. =)

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Jimin feat. Taeyang – VIBE

Leave it to BTS to provide us with a constant stream of music even though they are technically taking a break right now. *lol* But yeah, all the members have some solo projects going on that should last us until they return from their military service and I’m not mad about it. XD Quite the contrary! I love to see all the different sides of my boys and I’m enjoying eveything they throw our way. 😀

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That despite everything and all the illness going on a the beginning of the month I actually managed to read a lot! And that one of my favourite libraries has a focus on LGBTQIA+ books now! I’m so happy about this because as you know I read a lot in this genre and to see completely new releases making their way into library shelves isn’t just very satisfying but also makes me immensely happy because I can actually borrow and read them! Before that I always had to buy them because I knew my library wouldn’t have them but now I can save a lot of money and space. ❤

SCIENCE IN FICTION: MAKING LEARNING FUN THROUGH READING (PLUS, RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ALL AGES!) by Sammie @ The Bookwyrm’s Den

Sammie always talks about very interesting topics and this was no exception to the rule! I loved to read her take on science in fiction and I absolutely agree that we can learn a lot when themes like this are tackled in books. And I have to say it here: I actually like algebra but I can totally see how it’s not for everyone. *lol* If you don’t know Sammie’s blog yet, please take a look at it! It’s amazing! 😉

S – Series you loved this month

In the Soop – Friendcation: Since this were only four episodes I decided to use my Disney+ abo to watch it. And I had a lot of fun! Those five friends are amazing and to watch them hang out felt like being a part of their group. Honestly, I would have done the same things with my own friends so this was extremely wholesome to watch. ❤ Plus they are very funny so I had a great time. =)

Sandman: I decided to watch one episode of this to see if it’s for me and then watched the rest too. So yep, this series was for me. It was weird and creepy at times but also damn good. I really hope there will be a season two because I’m very curious how it will continue. I’m afraid it won’t get any easier for the Sandman though. And because I have to mention it: Tom Sturridge played really well! Loved the way he acted and his voice fit the Sandman so perfectly.

Brandon Sanderson – The Final Empire

Believe it or not, but I actually just discovered Brandon Sanderson. I had this book on my „currently reading“ for the longest time. Like since January 2022 I think but I was never in the right mood to pick it up until I felt like reading epic fantasy again and then read it in a couple of days. *lol* So, yes I enjoyed this a lot and I’ll continue to read the series. I’m ready to find out what’s going to happen in book 2.

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Jung Kook – Dreamers

I might not agree with the location of the FIFA worldcup this year but I absolutely love that JK got the chance to sing the song! XD „Dreamers“ is such a beautiful song and his voice is heavenly and whenever I think about young teen JK that said: „Mom, I’m on TV“ I start to cry because.. ahhhh he’s come so far and I’m so damn proud of him and all the other BTS boys. I can’t!!! They are just too amazing! ❤

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That the Giveaway I sent away at the beginning of October finally arrived!! Honestly I was so worried the package might have gotten lost on the way there, but last week it finally arrived and I was so damn happy! You have no idea! *lol* It would have sucked so much if it would have never arrived. Puh! I’m so relieved! I swear, the ways of the mail are mysterious! XD

S – Series you loved this month

Locke & Key: I finally finished watching „Locke & Key“ on Netflix and I really enjoyed the series! I mean it were 3 seasons and there was never a dull moment. Not many series manage to pull that off. Also all the different keys and what they could do. So intriguing. I think I might try to find the comics this tv series was based on and actually read them because I think season 3 was the last one and I don’t want to part with this world just yet. XD

Love, Victor: Yes, this person here finally caved and bought a Disney+ gift card for three months. So I have Disney+ until December and I’m currently binging the hell out of that limited abo. I watched all three seasons of „Love, Victor“ whenever I could and since the episodes are fairly short (30 – 35 minutes and 28 episodes) it was pretty easy to get through this wheneve I needed a break from studying. *lol* It was such a cute series and I really loved that there was even a cameo of Simon and Bram. XD As for the other LGBTQIA+ reps. Well, I think they would have needed some work, but oh well. Has anyone of you seen the series and agrees with me? xD (Also I watched „Permission to Dance“ twice already. Love to see my boys on TV ❤ )

Tracy Deonn – Legendborn

I think Tracy Deonn was actually the only new to me author I read in September but I’m really glad I discovered her through „Legendborn“! This book was everything I hoped it would be and even more! Also I really like Nick but Selwyn Kane owns my heart, body and soul! ❤ *lol* I loved how Tracy Deonn managed to combine so many different topics in her book and tackled them with so much care. I mean the bandwith is insane! We have racism, LGBTQIA+ reps and topics, an amazing grief rep, magic and even demons and that all nicely wrapped in an Arthurian retelling tale. I can highly recommend reading this book!

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Crush feat. J-Hope – Rush Hour

Those two legends just threw out this song and it’s so much fun and amazing! I love to listen to it and it’s such a cool song to vibe to. Also the videos about their collabo were so nice and wholesome. They really respect each other and it shows. Love those two. ❤

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

How many people actually took part in my Giveaway! I was pretty overwhelmed for the first couple of days because the entries just came rushing in and there seemed to be no stop to it. *lol* I did it on all my social media but the biggest bulk of entries definitely came from IG. So if you want to do a Giveaway I can really recommend to go for it on there. XD Well, I guess it helped that it was international and apparently not a lot of people do this. I was totally unprepared for all those participants and this definitely caught me off guard. In a good way of course. 😉

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo: My Yoongi and I finally managed to finish the series! *lol* I kinda got distracted by another series in the middle and it took me a while to pick up that one again. XD Once I did I was totally ready to find out how it would end though. =) I swear Jun-hyung is the perfect bf and I really loved him so much! Bok-joo was so lucky to have him and their love story was very adorable. XD If you don’t mind teen antics you should definitely go for that one. 😉

Lucifer – Season 4: I finally borrowed season 4 from my library and I went through it so fast you have no idea! It wasn’t the best „Lucifer“ season but it was entertaining enough and after THAT ending I really want to know what happens in season 5 and 6. Hopefully my library will get them soon.

Anthony Doerr – All the Light We Cannot See

I’ve never read a book by Anthony Doerr but I really liked this one. I didn’t cry though. Apparently I’ve grown a cold-cold heart! *lol* Joking aside I think it’s just the kind of writing style that caused me to feel a little bit disconnected to the characters. If that makes sense? It was more like I was watching a movie and following the characters instead of being right smack into the action. XD Still, it was a great book with a message and I can recommend it. =)

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Benny Blanco, BTS & Snoop Dog – Bad Decisions

This song is so nice and another catchy tune! I swear when BTS goes for pop they do it thoroughly! XD I could listen to this all day long and I’m so proud of our vocal line boys for working with Snoop Dog! ❤ I can’t wait for the next song to drop. I swear ever since they are on a break we get way more of them than we thought we would. *lol* It’s basically BTS content x 7!

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That I actually hit 300 subscribers on my YouTube channel! It’s been an up and down for months now and the number was always between 292 and 296. Mas or menos. Which is the reason why I’ll go for a huge giveaway on all my social media! So stay tuned! 😉 This said I also want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who’s reading this right now! S – Series you loved this month

V Wars: Another vampire series with Ian Somerhalder? I was intrigued enough to start watching it. Funnily enough his character in this series is totally different than Damon in „Vampire Diaries“. He’s a husband, father and a scientist and when the world starts to bleed red under the rule of a new vampire species he has troubles to defend himself and his family. I enjoyed this series more than I thought I would so it’s a real bummer there isn’t going to be a season 2. =(

KinnPorsche: OMG!!! Honestly, this series is legit one of the best things IG introduced me to. I saw it mentioned in one of my friends stories and got curious and before I even knew it I went down the rabbit hole and only emerged after 14 episodes, crying my freaking eyes out at the ending! T_T I still have a hangover from this series and I can’t wait to watch season two! Also for everyone who wonders what the series is about: It’s a mafia m/m story where Porsche – a bartender – is forced to work as a bodyguard for Kinn – a mafia boss – because he saved his life one night. Of course the both don’t like each other at the beginning but boy was it so lovely to see them fall in love. Also there are so many amazing m/m side-couples and after episode 9 I think, I shipped two of them even more than I shipped the main couple! SO DAMN GOOD!!! Guys, if you haven’t watched this series you’re missing out! Seriously, the acting was amazing! I’m a fan now!

TJ Klune – The House in the Cerulean Sea

This was my first TJ Klune book and I read it while hosting my first #Klunealong ever! The Klunealong wasn’t only a lot of fun but the book was amazing! One of the most wholesome, sweet and precious books I ever read. I still get all warm and fuzzy feelings whenever I think about it. I loved the kids, I loved Arthur and Linus, I loved Zoe, I just loved everything about this! ❤ I can’t wait to go for Part II of my #Klunealong and to read „The Extraordinaries“. If you want to join, you can still do it! You can watch the video with all the details: here!

J-Hope – MORE

And here I thought BTS going solo for a while meant that we wouldn’t get as much content as we’re used to but in fact it only meant: BTS content x 7! *lol* Boy, Hobi knocked it out of the park with his solo album „Jack in the Box“ and I love it so much! „MORE“ was the first single and wow, the lyrics hit hard! I bought the entire album as soon as I could and if you listen to it from the beginning to the end Hoseok is telling a story! This album is a brilliant masterpiece and I’m so damn proud of J-Hope!!! ❤

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That I got a horrible tonsillitis in the first month of my educational sabbatical. >_< It was no fun and I was knocked out cold for an entire week and it took me 2 additional weeks to recover fully. Like woah! This was extreme. But as for a good surprise: I did my first vlives on my BookTube channel and there were so many amazing BookTubers that supported me and joined the vlives. In the first vlive we were supposed to discuss the first 10 chapters of „The House in the Cerulean Sea“ but almost none of the watchers read the book, they were just there to talk with me. *lol* So sweet! Vlive Discussion No.2 was fun too because we really spoke about the book and it was so nice to hear other people’s opinions. XD So yeah it was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to my next vlive in August when I’ll discuss „The Extraordinaries“! =)

Hugs’n’Kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs

hugs'n'kisses or dismissed by the missus

Hey there, my lovelies!

Holy moly!! The last time I did this was more than a year ago! I can’t believe it took me so long to go for another round of my blog meme, but here I am. *lol*  Funnily enough I still got closer to my TBR goal even though I didn’t do the meme?! Maybe that’s because I read a lot of the books from my TBR? Who knows! Anyway! Let’s blow the dust away and go for another round! ;-P

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Choose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 288, so for instance I’ll pick 33, 172 and 253)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (33 – Chain of Gold , 172 – An Ember in the Ashes , 253 – The Hunt)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (An Ember in the Ashes: Okay, I wanted to read this one for ages and it’s actually on my 2022 or 2021 TBR? So that’s the perfect chance to actually go for it and to finally read the book.)

One to kiss and keep, (Chain of Gold: That’s a no-brainer because I definitely want to read the series. Just not yet. I need to read „Queen of Air and Darkness“ first and then I can continue. So I’ll get to this one, it just takes some time.)

One to dismiss and weep! (The Hunt: An assassin story and it actually sounds pretty good. The rating of 3,98 stars on goodreads doesn’t sound all too persuading, though. Well, for now I’ll dismiss this and weep. It’s been on my TBR since 2020 and I even forgot that it was on there so no good markings in favour of the book. *lol*)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

Rankenzeile

I’m currently at 288 books which is pretty good considering it used to be around 295. I’m still not all too close to my goal of reaching 280 books or so, but I’m getting closer and that’s at least something! =) I think I’m on a good way.

First Kill: My Yoongi and I were actually watching another k-drama when we saw this drop on Netflix and we just couldn’t resist! *lol* I mean an f/f Romeo and Juliette retelling? We both wanted to watch this and decided to go for the first episode. Well, what can I say? Before we even knew it we were right smack in the middle of the series and had almost gone through the 8 episodes in no time. *lol* It was really good. Pretty gory at some parts but also super interesting. I loved the family dynamics so much and I hope for a second season!!!

Axie Oh – XOXO

I wanted to read „XOXO“ for ages and finally picked it up as a cozy comfort read and it was exactly that! I loved all the Korean expressions and the food that was mentioned in here and the love story was really cute and nice to read. I just wish there would have been even more of the love story? *lol* I dunno. I just wanted even more, I guess. XD

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Charlie Puth feat. Jung Kook – Left And Right

Okay, ever since BTS decided to take a break as a band I can’t keep up with their content anymore. *lol* Not that I’m complaining! I love that they all get a chance to express themselves now and that they don’t have to follow the typical boyband rules anymore. So yeah, I’ve been living my best life following all of my 7 boys and JK’s collabo with Charlie Puth was the first song that was released after their announcement. And wow, what a great song it is. I can’t get it out of my mind anymore because it’s such a catchy tune. Or to say it with the songs lyrics: „You take up every corner of my mind.“ *lol*

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

That June was over so fast! Haha! Honestly, this was the biggest surprise ever! It was the first time in my adult life (and I’ve been working for years now!) I actually had 4 weeks vacation and they passed by so quickly I still don’t know where they went. *lol* But I guess in the end the only thing that matters is that really I enjoyed those four weeks and well, I enjoyed at least 3 of them (one out of those four was spent at home with my ill kid…) so I count that as a win! 😉

„F/F Recommendations“ by Elli @ AceReader

I always complain that there aren’t enough f/f romances to read and when I saw Elli’s post I was so happy because: YAY!!! Finally some great f/f recommendations I hadn’t known yet! So thank you Elli for sharing this post with us! It was amazing and my TBR grew once again. XD

S – Series you loved this month

Young Royals: It was a short series and easy to watch despite my busy May schedule. I really liked the idea of a LGBTQ+ main couple in the show but I really didn’t get all the comparisons with „Red, White & Royal Blue“ because quite honestly, the only thing those two have in common is a prince that falls for a boy. *lol* It was still good though and even though it was extremely awkward at times I bingewatched it in no time. XD

Victoria Lee – The Fever King

Okay, not gonna lie, this book was such a huge surprise! I mean the plot already sounded right up my alley when I read it on the blurb but boy, I didn’t expect to get so obsessed with this! It was amazing and for a couple of days all I could think about were Dara and Noam and what would happen next! I just love those two so much and I can’t wait to read book two! ❤ (Though I’m pretty sure I’ll suffer once I find out even more about their background stories. T_T )

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – Home

I just love this song?! ❤ It’s such a catchy tune and my kid and I always listen to it and sing along. Plus it has something soothing and wholesome about it. XD I’m sure this song got out a long while ago but sometimes I discover new songs and then I’m addicted to them. *lol*

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

How fast time went by! I had my last day at work on the 31st (and yes, I went there until the bitter end and even handed over all my tasks and responsibilities.) I worked more than 10 years at this company and then it was over in the blink of an eye. That was really surprising but I’ve to go my own way now and it’s for the best. 🙂

Judging random fantasy book names by Alexia @ Right Writing Words

This was such a fun blog post and I really enjoyed to read about the plot ideas Alexia came up with. She had quite a lot of fun book titles as well. I mean „Giants Of The Stars“ sounds like an epic fantasy adventure, right? *lol* At least for me it does, Alexia’s plot idea was amazing too! XD
