The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Brianna @ Biranna’s Books and Randomness back in May and I’m so sorry I’m only getting to it now. XD Thank you so much for the tag Brianna! If I keep up my snail pace you guys will read my summer tags in winter. Might be a nice change to all those seasonal tags though so *shrugs*. ;-P Anyway, let’s do the Award! XD

Rules

  • Thanks the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the sunshine blogger award in your post/or on your blog.

Brianna’s Questions:

1. When did you learn to read?

That’s such an interesting and relevant question but funnily enough I can’t remember anyone ever asking me when I learned to read. XD And to answer it: I think I learned it in kindergarten, well at least the basics. I could read books on my own when I was in primary school. As soon as I learned to read, I basically read everything. From signs to street names, posters, etc. And of course books. Plenty of books. *lol*

2. What is one book you want to be turned into a movie/t.v. series?

23395680. sy475

I’d love to see „The Illuminae Files“ as a movie series! I’m sure it would be amazing! I mean the format already reads like some sort of screenplay and if they’d follow the books and wouldn’t deviate all too much from the plot or characters this would be great! Just to see all the action and those beloved characters on screen would be such an experience! 😀 It definitely would make for an awesome action movie!

3. What was your favourite book when you were a kid?

I think this might be a tie between „The Little Witch“ and „Fiery Frederica“. I loved both of them when I was a kid. What’s interesting is that both of the MCs were the odd ones out and sort of underdogs. Guess I always pulled for the outsiders, even as a child. *lol*

4. What book do you plan to read next?

43242080

Mhmm… Well it’s Halloween month and I might as well start with a spooky read. I don’t know if that qualifies as spooky but I heard great things about „The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle“ so I really want to get to this one soon. Also can anyone explain to me why it’s sometimes 7 and then 7 1/2 Deaths? *lol* I kinda stumbled over this and I have no idea why they changed the title of some copies to only 7. It’s kinda odd.

5. Who is one of your favourite bloggers or what is one of your favourite blogs?

Only one? ARGH!! I can’t just name one so I’ll name two, okay? Let’s bend the rules a little bit, I mean they are made for it after all, right? ;-P So there are two blogs I’ve been following closely and I must have read every single post of those two bloggers. Can you already guess? It’s Sabrina @ Note from A Paper Plane Nomad and Elli @ AceReader! I just love them and their content and I’ll never get tired of reading their blogs. ❤

6. What is one genre you absolutely hate?

There’s no genre I really hate but there are genres I rarely or as good as never read because I just can’t seem to get into them. I’m no huge fan of biographies, self-help, spiritual or religious books. Which is not to say that I never read them. I mean I read „The Holy Bible“ and some of the „…. for Dummies“ books but I usually read for entertainment and escapism and all those aforementioned genres can’t give me what I need.

7.  If you could help one of your favorite authors write a book, who would you choose to write with?

SUANNE LAQUEUR!!!! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to write a book with her. I mean it would be like an epic Aled Last and Frances Janvier collaboration. I can imagine us throwing thoughts and ideas at each other and shaping them into an amazing book. Ahh… now I’ll never get that thought out of my head. *lol* Suanne if you’re reading this, ignore my fanboy moment and gushing… except of if you actually DO want to write a book with me. Then I’d love to get started. Send me a mail asap! ;-P (I can always dream, right?)

8. Do you enjoy reading more in the morning or at night?

I used to do both when I was younger but nowadays I only read at night when my kid is sleeping. XD In the morning she’s way too active to even think about it. So for now the answer would be at night because I enjoy the silence! *lol*

9. How do you come up with creative ideas for blog posts?

At the strangest times and in the weirdest situations. I swear! XD That’s why I always carry a journal with me in which I can write my crazy thoughts. It’s something very personal and aside from my bestie (who only was allowed to take a peek at it 3 weeks ago and this for the very first time) no one ever was allowed to take a look into it. I guess that’s because I write a lot of things into it, also poem ideas, writing ideas, etc. Just everything that comes to mind. I always say it’s my brain. *lol*

10. What book did you hate having to read in school?

Haha! There were so many!!! So, so, so many! Where do I even start? *lol* One I definitely didn’t enjoy to read was „A Village Romeo and Juliet“. I just didn’t see the point of this book. I mean we all know „Romeo and Juliet“ why sort of rewrite it again in a village setting? Makes no sense! Especially because all the similarities are still there. There was no unique and new spin.

11. Which is better: Marvel or D.C.? (Please say Marvel!)

I really like Batman and Catwoman but they are the only two D.C. characters I like. So I think I’ll definitely go with Marvel here! They just have the better superheroes and therefore also the better stories! 😉

I Nominate:

My Questions:

  • 1. What was the first book that really got you into reading and why?
  • 2. McDonalds or Burger King? (I’m always interested in that one. *lol*)
  • 3. What is your least favourite book that got only one star or even less? (Of course I’d like to know the „why“ as well. 😉 )
  • 4. Which bookish character is the most like you?
  • 5. Your perfect breakfast?
  • 6. Tell me something totally random about you!
  • 7. If you could help one of your favorite authors write a book, who would you choose to write with? (going to steal that one because I loved it. XD)
  • 8. I know we all have our reasons for starting a blog, but what motivates you to keep on writing?
  • 9. What’s your favourite animal?
  • 10. Do you collect anything aside from books?
  • 11. And because it’s Halloween month: Is there something that truly scares you? (like spiders, or clowns, etc.)

Real Neat Blog Award

Hey there, my lovelies!

A while back I was nominated for the „Real Net Blog Award“ by Brianna @ Brianna’s Books And Randomness and I thought it was about time to say THANK YOU and to actually do this! *lol* I’m always a few months behind with things like that but I promise I’ll do better in future. Or well, you know, at least I’ll try?! ;-P „A fault confessed is half redressed.“ or so they say! XD

Rules:

  • Display the award logo.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions from the blog who nominated you.
  • Nominate seven to ten bloggers.
  • Ask them seven questions.

Who is your favorite Harry Potter character?

Oh wow, that’s a tough one! *lol* So many of those characters are awesome and I really love them all. If I’d have to decide I’d go with either Harry Potter himself or Lupin though. I always loved Harry and his defiance and even though he thinks he’s not cool or has no control over things he still tries to do the best he can. Also Lupin is amazing! He’s legit the best DADA teacher they ever had and I love his compassion and calmness. ❤

Do you play any instruments? If yes, which one(s)?

All right, you got me! ;-P Yes, I DO play instruments (plural), but it’s been ages I played them with others. XD Also I haven’t practiced properly for a while. (Having a kid that’s like a little tornado will do that to you. *lol*) Anyway, this said I play e-bass, a little bit guitar and the piano. I think I suck at the latter two but I’m pretty sure I play a decent and mean e-bass. Haha! (At least I think I do.)

If you could reread any series or book for the first time again, which would you choose?

Definitely „The Raven Cycle“!!! I loved this series so damn much and just to feel that magic all over again, to see how those friendships form, this deep connection to Cabeswater and between all those lovely characters! ❤ Don’t even get me started on Adam Parrish or Ronan Lynch! I would love to read this series for the first time again! =)

What do you like to do on rainy days, (besides read)?

I think the next best thing to reading would be to watch Netflix, make music, listen to music or to draw?! Oh, boy, even an imaginary relaxed day sounds kinda busy with me, doesn’t it? *lol* But honestly, I have so many hobbies and just to be able to indulge them would be enough. As it is my rainy days are spent with taking care of my kid so none of the above is actually happening. XD Guess it will get better once my child is older. 😉

What is your favorite band?

This is a dangerous question to ask because I don’t have only one. ;-P There are so many great bands out there, there’s no way it could only be one. If I’d have to name just three I’d say the following though: One Republic, Imagine Dragons and Thirty Seconds To Mars

Would you prefer a cold day with lots of snow or a warm day perfect for the beach?

Always a warm day perfect for the beach!!! I might be born in winter but I really don’t like the cold! *lol* I love warm summer days and I’m definitely a summer kind of person!

Share a picture of your bookshelf!

This is just the part I rearranged a while back, but I hope that one day I’ll manage to get a decent picture of my entire shelf.

20200407_061214

I nominate the following people for this award:

My questions are:

  • How do you drink your coffee/tea?
  • What is your personal kryptonite trope in books? (e.g. broken boys, enemies-to-lovers, found-family, etc…)
  • If you could time travel for just one day: Which year would you pick and why?
  • What kind of job would be your dream job and why?
  • Are you rather an extrovert or an introvert?
  • You’re at the beach and only have a couple of minutes left before you have to be somewhere else. What do you do? (read, bask in the sun, sink your feet into the sand, etc.)
  • What’s your favourite season and why?

Rankenzeile

So this was actually a lot of fun! XD Thanks again for tagging me, Brianna! I hope you guys enjoyed my answers! And I’m really looking forward to read yours! 😉

Sunshine Blogger Award

Hey there my lovelies!

I’m kind of behind on my tags and awards (yes, plural! You guys are so amazing for nominating me!!!) but I’m trying my best to catch up! 😛 Anyway! My lovely friend Sabrina @ Notes From A Paper Plane Nomad nominated me for this award and I humbly accept it! *lol* If you don’t know her page yet you should take a closer look! It’s amazing just like her! 😉

What’s the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who are creative, positive, and inspiring. Once nominated, the blogger is required to write a post in which they:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated them and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated them.
  • Nominate 11 other blogs and give them 11 new questions to answer.
  • Notify your nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post.

Sabrina’s Questions:

1. Which book/series have you re-read the most times?

That might sound kinda weird now but if I’m honest it are those two: Harry Potter and wait for it…. Captive Prince! *lol* I think HP appeals to the child in me and makes me nostalgic and Captive Prince is the adult in me that loves court machinations, complex and character driven books and touchy subjects. So you might say they both cater to different needs. 😛

2. Pick ONLY one: hardback, paperback, ebook or audio book!

Always and forever paperback! 😉 I just love to page through a book and my sticky notes come in handy when I read paperbacks.

3. Do you have any blog-related goals/plans for 2020?

Hell, yes! Where to start? *lol* I think my main goals/plans are those three though: 1.) Read the books on My Book List 2020! 2.) Go through with my German speaking Authors Year! 3.) Host my second giveaway! If I hit 250 followers you’re in for a treat! 😉

4. What book wasn’t as good the second time around?

„Throne of Glass“ and I really only mean the first book in the series! I reread it about a year ago and my rating dropped from 5 to 4 paws. I know that’s not much but it just wasn’t as exciting as the first time around and after reading the rest of the series it just couldn’t compete with all the other books! XD

5. What book was even BETTER the second time around?

Funnily enough it’s also a Sarah J. Maas book! *lol* I loved to reread A Court of Mist and Fury! It was so much fun and I noticed so many things I wasn’t aware of when I first read it! Plus all those characters! They gave me life and the feels! ❤

6. If you could swap places with any character who would it be and why?

Oh, wow! That’s a tough one! XD But I think I’d go for Ronan Lynch from The Raven Boys. I just love the friendships in this series and I’m madly and deeply in love with Adam Parrish so that definitely would have it’s perks. Plus, I’m basically Ronan so I wouldn’t have to change and could curse and be myself just like I’m used to. Haha! Also, I could dream things into existence, could have Chainsaw on my shoulder, would be able to visit Cabeswater… seriously what’s not to love?!!

7. What are your favourite books/authors that champion diversity?

Definitely Mackenzi Lee, Alice Oseman, Rainbow Rowell, Casey McQuiston, Leigh Bardugo and Roshani Chokshi! I would have loved to say Becky Albertalli too but unfortunately I always seem to have issues with her books. *lol*

8. What is the most important thing you look for in a book?

Elation! I want a book to sweep me off my feet and I want to feel the need to continue to read on. If a book manages to captivate me it’s always a good book. 🙂

9. Favourite indie (or lesser known) author/book?

Jim Butcher’s „Codex Alera“ series and since I just read it Kerstin Gier’s „Precious Stone Triology“. Also can I say how amazing „The Impossible Boy“ by Anna Martin was? ❤

10. What’s your favourite bookish trope?

I think that might be enemies to lovers! *lol* It never gets old and I love it when they don’t give each other an inch but then fall in love! Haha!

11. What is your favourite book from each genre?

Wow Sabrina! You definitely don’t make it easy for me. 😛 That’s a really tough one but I’ll try my best.

classic: The Picture of Dorian Gray

Sci-Fi: Illuminae

thriller: Angels & Demons

And that’s it! I can’t pick a favourite book from all the other genres because there are way too many amazing books! Don’t force me to pick! Please! *whimpers* *LOL*

I nominate…

My Questions…

  1. What’s your favourite hobby apart from reading?
  2. If you could live in just one bookish universe which one would it be?
  3. With which book character would you love to be besties and why?
  4. Which author would make you so starstruck that you couldn’t even utter a peep?
  5. Is there a book genre you’d never read and if „yes“ why?
  6. Imagine you’re a writer! Which kind of book would you write? (e.g. genre, tropes, characters, etc.)
  7. Which book/series would you love to see as a movie adaption?
  8. The best book you’ve read in 2020? (so far… I know the year is still young! 😉 )
  9. Do you prefer to borrow books from the library or do you buy them for your own shelves at home?
  10. Your favourite song? (At the moment, I know there are too many great songs out there. *lol*)
  11. If you could be a mytical creature which one would you like to be? (e.g. vampires, werewolves, mermaids, etc.)

Rankenzeile

This was a lot of fun but also kinda difficult! You’re definitely asking the right questions, Sabrina! *lol* 😛

@ everyone I tagged: I hope you guys will enjoy answering my questions! 😀 I always try to tag different people so I hope being tagged by me is okay for you! If you do this don’t forget to link back to me so I can read your answers, if you don’t do this it’s okay too! I just wanted to spread some bookish appreciation and love! 😉
