SASSY Saturday

SASSY Saturday

Hey there my lovelies!

Welcome back to the sixth round of my new montly blog meme „SASSY Saturday“!

How does it work? Well, that’s easy! 😉

All you have to do is to follow those three golden rules:

1. Credit the creator of this tag (The Sassy Library Fox) and link back. (so I can see all your amazing answers!)
2. Answer the 5 questions below!
3. AND enjoy doing the blog meme! 😛

„SASSY Saturday“ is planned to be a monthly meme but if you want to do it more often feel free to go for it! This meme was created to get to know other bloggers, their new obsessions and to reflect on your own last month! Above all it was created to have fun though! 😉 If you want you can also use the banner I created! This said let’s head to the good part:

S – Series you loved this month

Daredevil

Can we just acknowledge how awesome the third season of Daredevil was? I loved and hated it at the same time. Fisk drove me mental with his mind games but boy did I love them!! *lol* Plus there were new characters that really mixed up things! (And this is an understatement) Matt had to go through a lot and there were quite some moments I was like: „OMG NO!!!“ The fighting scenes: Epic!!! Especially the one at the prison! I’m still in awe of that one! XD So yeah, I followed Matt Murdock’s trail of blood through the entire season. And I regret nothing. ;-P

Julie and the Panthoms

And here’s another series I got addicted to quickly. Julie and the Phantoms is such a great series! It made me laugh, it made me cry, it caused me to pull for Julie and her ghost band and there was so much heart in this series that I melted. XD The songs are all amazing and have a deep meaning and the joy Julie and her band feel when they are on stage? It’s palpable! They have fun and you can see it! Reminds me of my own band days! ❤ Plus for once I actually don’t have a favourite character because damn they are all great in their own way! 😀

A – Author you discovered

Alice Oseman! I know, I know, technically I already knew her, but I never read an actual book she wrote. I’ve been following her comic „Heartstopper“ for years but I never picked up one of her novels. Which I corrected this month. XD I just started to read „Radio Silence“ and I’m already intrigued by the two MCs. Frances and Aled are really two unique characters and I’m pretty sure I’ll get addicted to this pretty fast. 🙂

S – Song you couldn’t get enough of

Julie and the Phantoms – Wake Up

This was the first song they introduced in the series and I loved it immediately. Julie has such a great voice and the message of the song! Just beautiful! I think I might get the entire soundtrack because damn, the music is amazing! 🙂

S – Surprise – Something that totally caught you off guard

I’m not gonna lie: 2020 was/and still is one of the worst years I ever had. I mean seriously: 2020 is so hard I could become a sculptor and sell my troubles as art. Aside from Covid-19 there happened so many bad things and some days I just want to stay in my bed and hide under my blanket. It was one of those days – I was at work and felt especially miserable – when one of my new colleagues brought me coffee. It was a small gesture but it was such a nice one and she even knew how I drink my coffee. I almost cried right there and then. Sometimes a little kindness goes a long way. ❤

Y – Your fave blog post of another blogger

Reading Romance While Demisexual @ The Quiet Pond

This was a really great blog post and I enjoyed reading through it! I loved that CW explained how it feels for her to be demi and how insta-love is something she can’t really relate to. And it kind of made me question myself because believe it or not every relationship I ever had started out as a friendship first and then (sometimes over years) developed into something more. I just need to build trust before I can be with someone. Don’t ask me if I’m demi or not, because I seriously don’t know. *lol* All I know is that CW’s post was some sort of thought-provoking impulse. Maybe it will provoke your thoughts too?! XD

What do you think about „SASSY Saturday“? Would you like to join the fun? Did you discover a new song and what was your favourite series last month? Did you do something kind that made someone happy?!

Fuss, Cuss & Discuss: Open Endings vs. Cliffhangers

Fuss Cuss & Discuss_vers1

Hey there, my lovelies!

It’s been ages I last did one of those but since I can only keep my blog running by posting twice a week some things will have to be – let’s say – kind of sporadic. *lol* This discussion post has been on my mind for ages though so I finally decided to write it down on paper (or rather on screen) before I’m going to choke on it. XD Which is pretty likely because everything that doesn’t run out of my mind and right into my fingers is bound to make me go crazy on the long run. 😉

Anyway! Enough of my musings! Let’s just jump right into the fun.

So the topic this time around is „Open Endings vs. Cliffhangers“! I don’t know about you, but I for my part, have a more than just ambivalent stance when it comes to open endings and cliffhangers, which is to say I kind of love to hate them. 😛 So when it comes down to the bitter truth both options are horrible and leave me reeling but only one of them will make me bite my nails and tear at my hair. Can you already guess which one of them I’m talking about?

Yes, it’s open endings! Whilst cliffhangers are extremely inconvenient (and this is me putting it mildly) there’s still something they have going for themselves: If you’re able to get your hands on the next book of the series (and don’t have to wait an entire year for it) you’re instantly put out of your misery. *lol* You can read on and find out how it’s going to continue and this automatically makes them a little bit easier to bear. I mean you know there’s going to be a second (or third, etc.) book and that even though it might take years (I’m looking at YOU Patrick Rothfuss!!!) until it gets out you’ll still find out how it will all unfold in the end. So there is some sort of comfort to be found in reading a cliffhanger because sooner or later you’ll know what happens next. 🙂

Open endings? Well, they leave you reeling and you’ll never find out what happens next which is the main reason why they always send me around the bend. *lol* I swear, I love to hate „cliffhangers“ but „open endings“ they kill me, EVERY SINGLE TIME! There’s nothing that will get to me as much as not knowing how a book ends. I mean yes, technically an open ending is an ending of sorts but it’s one that leaves things up to you. And being the orderly person that I am this is pure torture for me. XD I like to know what happens to characters and I always need some sort of closure.

Give me a „they hugged and everything was alright“ and not a „they watched each other from a careful distance and neither dared to take a step“. *LOL* I know that’s a bad example and exaggerated, but with the first option you know they are going to be fine while the latter one leaves it open if they’ll be fine or not. Being the eternal optimist that I am I always like to think that a glass is half full instead of half empty so my mind would rather go for everything ending nicely but there are some books that imply a bad open ending and those are the ones that really, really drive me nuts. I’m thinking about a certain book I read recently that’s still haunting me and probably will continue to do so for a while. >_<

This said, I can still appreciate open endings even though they are pretty likely to destroy me. *lol* Talk about conflicting emotions… I think I could go on and on about this but for your sake I’ll refrain from going into a full blown rant and stop right here instead! To hear your opinions is way more interesting anyway. 😛

Rankenzeile

So what about you and your stance on „open endings vs. cliffhangers“? Do you love to hate them, too or do you prefer one option over the other? And if you do: Why? Is it torture to wait for the next installment after a cliffhanger or can you deal with it just fine? (If yes, please teach me your ways!!! *lol*)

Talk to me and let me know!

Hermione Granger – 250 Followers Celebration

Hey there my lovelies! 😀

When I hit 250 Followers on my blog I gave you three different options to chose from and the majority of you wanted me to draw a bookish character. So I collected all your suggestions and threw them in a bowl.

Well, Hermione Granger won and I tackled the task of drawing her for you. 😉 This said there are a few things I need to say before I present you the drawing:

1.) It’s been ages I last drew a manga character so I was a little bit out of practice which explains why it took me so long to go for this. Also I’ve a lousy time management. *lol* I mean there are already 55 more of you and I only managed to post this now. *facepalm*

2.) I still can’t draw hands, legs and feet! Bear with me? XD No, really I suck at it, but I guess I’ve to live with it. (Well, me and you. 😉 )

3.) I wish I could have gone for more details but urgh time is not my friend so Hermione’s wand looks pretty plain. But hey at least her tie and hair are amazing! 😛

Okay, enough of procrastinating and avoiding your verdict. Here goes nothing!

*takes a deep breath*

Hermione Granger_2

I hope you like my manga version of Hermione! I know there are about a thousand people who can draw better but I tried my best! XD

P.S: I’ll go for a bookish giveaway to celebrate 300 followers soon! So please stay tuned! =)

P.P.S: I have no idea how this even happened but I’m so, so thankful for each and every one of you! Thank you so much for following my blog and a warm welcome to all of those new faces! 😀 And of course also lots of love to the „old guard“. 😛 Without you I wouldn’t even have come that far! ❤

Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs

hugs'n'kisses or dismissed by the missus

Good afternoon, my lovelies!

The last time I did this, I decided to hug and read „One of Us is Lying“ and even though I didn’t finish it yet, I can already tell that it’ll most likely be a three paws read or even more for me. Well, that is if the ending doesn’t destroy my current enjoyment. *lol* But I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what is going to happen next. XD

This said, I’m going right into my next round of „Hugs’n’Kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs“:

Rankenzeile

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Choose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 297, so for instance I’ll pick 55, 144 and 238)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (55 – Hunted, 144 – Break Even, 238 – Wintersong)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (Wintersong: This hasn’t only been on my shelf ever since Annie recommended it to me but is also on My Book List 2019 so it’s about time I finally read it! XD)

One to kiss and keep, (Hunted: There’s no way I’m going to miss out on book 6 of „The Iron Druid Chronicles“! I love Atticus and Oberon! ❤ )

One to dismiss and weep! (Break Even: I think this sounds rather intriguing but I’m no huge fan of contemporary romances and „Break Even“ is one of them. *lol* Maybe one day in the far far away future when I stumble upon it again…)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

Rankenzeile

Sometimes my blog meme or my Bookie Jar actually force me to read the books I put on my reading list and tell you what? I’m thankful for it! *lol*

It really helps me to keep to my reading schedule… well at least a little bit. XD Plus this blog meme works so perfectly for me! I already managed to reduce my TBR so much and I hope it will help others to reduce theirs too! 😀

Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs

hugs'n'kisses or dismissed by the missus

Hey there, my lovelies!

Another month is over and after finishing „The Lies of Locke Lamora“ recently I’m ready to hug and read the next book.  So here I am going for my third round of my own blog meme “Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs”.

If you want to try my blog meme too, feel free to do so! Just make sure to follow the rules and everything should work out fine! 😉 Well, that is of course, if you don’t cheat on yourself. *lol*

Rankenzeile

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Chose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 299, so for instance I’ll pick 50, 161 and 249)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (50 – One of Us is Lying, 161 – The Harvest of Betrayal, 249 – The Abyss Surrounds Us)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (One of Us is Lying: I already have this on my kindle so it’s time to finally read it)

One to kiss and keep, (The Abyss Surrounds Us: Lesbian Pirates?! Did you really think I’d pass on this opportunity? *lol*)

One to dismiss and weep! (The Harvest of Betrayal: This sounds really interesting but I read way too many serious books lately and I doubt I’ll bring myself to read this in near future. I’ll keep it in mind though. Maybe one day I’ll add it to my list again.)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

„One of Us Is Lying“ is one of those books I wanted to read for ages and I’m glad I’m finally giving it a try. So far this blog meme worked out really well for me. When I started there were 303 books on my TBR list and after this third round there’ll only be 297 left. This is amazing and I’m so happy it works!!! ❤

What about you? Did you try my meme already? Did it work out for you too? Do you want to give it a shot?

Tell me and let me know! =)
