Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs

hugs'n'kisses or dismissed by the missus

Hey there, my lovelies!

It’s been a while I last did my blog meme, mostly because it took me so long to read „The Poppy War“! *lol* But I’m done with the book now and I’m more than just ready for a new challenge! So without further ado, let’s do this! 😀

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Choose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 291, so for instance I’ll pick 30, 155 and 212)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (30 – Stealing the Wind, 155 – The Darkest Night, 212 – Queer Magick)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (Stealing the Wind: I wanted to read this for ages. I mean an m/m mermen fantasy story! Guilty pleasure wins! Sorry! *lol* 😛 )

One to kiss and keep, (Queer Magick: And here’s another guilty pleasure read. Not going to scratch that one from my list either. XD)

One to dismiss and weep! (The Darkest Night: A paranormal fantasy romance. Sounds very tropey and right now I’m just not in the mood for it. I’ll keep it in the back of my mind though. You know, just for future reference. 😛 )

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

Rankenzeile

So even though apparently no one else is doing my blog meme except of well, „moi“, I’m still happy with it! *lol* I mean the numbers speak for themselves! Before I started with this there were about 304 books on my TBR and now I’m down to 288! And this even though I constantly add new books to it! ❤ For me that’s an achievement and I’m glad I found my own way to reduce my TBR. Maybe one of these days someone else will give it a shot as well. You never know. 😛

Your Questions – My Answers ;-P (Part II)

Hey there, my lovelies! ❤

In one of my last blog posts I celebrated 200 followers and invited you to ask me some personal questions. As it seems you guys are pretty shy. *lol* Well, at least there weren’t any scandalous questions coming my way so I had no trouble answering them properly. 😛 (For once I didn’t have to use my silver-tongued faerie skills to blur the truth. Haha!)

Anyway! I really liked your questions and it was a lot of fun to answer them so thank you for making this interesting! XD I hope my answers will satisfy your curiosity and if not, just ask me an additional question in the comments. 😉

This said, let’s head directly to your interesting questions! =)

Rankenzeile

Hamad @ The Book Prescription

What is your reading routine?

Trying to get as many pages into my day as possible? *lol* Just kidding! Or not. XD Well, mostly I read about 4 – 5 different books and I vary between them. Like I’ll read a book when I drive to work (I’m a commuter and it takes 1 1/2 hours to get to my job), another one when I head back from work and a third one when I finally collapse on my sofa at night. And yes, everyone who knows their maths must have figured that this were only three books, so here comes the explanation: Different days, different books! 😉 Ever since I became a part of goodreads I also began to use those little post-its in order to mark all those awesome quotes. And yes, sometimes my physical copies look like a little hedgehog! *lol*

Geanie @ The Library Lady Travels

How did you come up with such a great name for your blog?

Ohh I absolutely love that one! ❤ There actually went a lot of thought into it. XD I always loved libraries and they are some sort of sanctuary for me. Whenever I felt sad or lonely, I’d escape into the nearest library and would get lost in those endless rows of books. Even now I feel at home there. So once when I was there with my bestie she said she’d go into another section while I skimmed the English bookshelves. She was like: „You know where to find me?“ And I answered: „Of course! I practically live here and kinda have a registration form.“ *lol* So I knew that there had to be „library“ in my name. 😛 As for the sassy and fox part. Well, everyone who knows me in real life knows that I’m sassy as hell. So that was kind of a no-brainer. Haha! *shrugs* Regarding the „fox“ there went quite some thought into it as well. It’s not only my spirit animal but I also share quite some character traits with it. *lol* Plus according to Chinese and Japanese mythology foxes are some sort of shape shifters that can change into any form. Which fits my nature more than just well. And if I’d try to explain this statement my answer would turn into an essay so I better leave it at that. 😛 (I’m being deliberately cryptic here. XD)

Kaya @ A Fictional Bookworm

What is the number one thing you’d recommend doing (or not doing!) for a new blogger?

Just do your thing! And I mean it! When I started with my blog I had that idea of a fox themed site and I stuck by it. It was difficult to get my blog running because I had no idea what to expect or where to start. The important thing is that I WANTED it to work out though. So I started to draw my fox and my paws, made some pictures etc. As long as you have an idea and are willing to make it real everything is possible. Plus try to connect with other bloggers! It helped me so much to get tips from them! (I’ll always be thankful for the mention of Canva!!!) I think once you have something unique and manage to turn your idea into a blog, your baby is going to take off no matter what. 😉 As for the „not doing“ part: Don’t be a hermit. *lol* The blogger community is awesome and it’s fun to make new friends!

Alexandra Elend Wolf

What’s the biggest difference between reviewing books on GR and your blog?
I think the main difference is that I post more reviews on Goodreads. There’s a review for every book I read on there, even if it’s a very short one. On my blog I don’t post as many reviews and not as often, mostly because I write about other things on here too. For instance I do tags and write either personal posts or poetry. Goodreads is all about reviews, my blog is about my personal life and character too. 😉 So basically you could say not every review I write on goodreads makes its way on my blog. Only the good and the exceptionally long ones! *lol* Because lets face it: I actually DO write super long reviews and the word limit on goodreads makes it impossible to write down all of my feelings and thoughts. So I’d write a short version on goodreads and post the „extended version“ on here. 😉

Are you studying or working? If you are studying, you are a college or a university student? If you are working, what is your job?

I’m working and I’ve been working for the last 11 years or so. *lol* (Exception were the 2 1/2 years parental leave) I wish I’d still be a university student! Haha! Life was way easier back then. XD So to answer your question: I went to uni but only for about two terms. After I graduated I began to study psychology, history and international affairs, but unfortunately I realized that I just didn’t want to study any more and therefore started to look for a job. I guess I could have become a chef because I have a diploma but I decided to become an assistant instead. So that’s exactly what I’m doing right now: I work as an assistant at an NGO. 😉

This was a lot of fun! Thank you for asking me those questions! =) I hope my answers were insightful and interesting to read!

200 followers celebration post

Hey there, my lovelies!

I can’t believe there are already 200 of you out there! When did this happen? O_o Not all too long ago I celebrated 150 followers with a giveaway and now 50 of you joined my blog once again! 🙂

This is AMAZING!!! I thought I might get a 100 followers until the end of 2019 and here you are, double the size I anticipated and I couldn’t be more excited! ❤ I’m so glad you guys seem to enjoy my blog and I’m trying my very best to keep it running! (Even if it’s difficult sometimes because my kid, work and life in general are keeping me quite busy. >_<)

Anyway! The last time when I hit a 100 followers I gave you a chance to ask me some questions and because it was so much fun to answer them I’m doing a second round now! 😉 I mean there are 100 more of you now and I’m sure you might have some questions too! *lol* As I said the last time, there’s only so much you can write down in your „About Me“ section and there are usually only the basics.

So once again: Whatever you want to ask me, I’m here and will answer your questions honestly and truthfully in one of my next blog posts!

(Or at least as honest and truthful as a cunning and silver tongued faerie like me can answer them. 😛 I gave that warning the last time and only found it fair to mention it again. XD)

Ask me about my fave colour, hobbies, book, the meaning of life (even though I’m not quite sure if I’ll be able to answer that one) or whatever floats your boat! This is your chance to get some answers to questions you never dared to ask! (Yes, plural. You’re allowed to ask more than one question if you want, but I doubt I’m that interesting. *lol*)

This said: Fire away! I’m ready! Or as ready as I’ll ever be!

Frankfurt Book Fair 2019

Hey there my lovelies!

As some of you might already know I was at the Frankfurt Book Fair last weekend! XD And boy was it amazing!!! If you’re used to small book fairs (like ours in Vienna) this one most certainly will blow your mind! We walked in there and it was like: WOAH!!! O_o There were so many publishers that I lost count of them, but according to one of the people I talked with there were about 7.000 of them! Just imagine this big number! 7.000!!!! No wonder you could have easily beaten someone with the programm! *lol* To be entirely honest my feet still hurt from all the walking but boy was it worth it! 😀

I’m so glad I managed to get there because about a week before the fair everything that could possibly go wrong actually went wrong. I swear if there was ever a week that proved „Murphy’s Law“ is an actual thing then it was the week before the fair. I had a bad cold and Saturday night we even ended up in hospital because my little one had an acute otitis media. Sunday morning the doc sent us home and on Monday our children’s doctor almost sent us to hospital for a week again. Her inflammatory markers had exploded and she had about 40 degrees fever… Which naturally caused me to be worried sick! Thanks to antibiotics she was already doing better on Tuesday though. Which would have been perfect if the next tragedy wouldn’t have hit us out of the blue…

Anyway, let’s not talk about the bad stuff and focus on the good things in life instead! I was at the Frankfurt Book Fair! YAY! XD And I definitely wasn’t the only one! If anyone ever tells you that no one reads anymore and that books are dead, send them to the Frankfurt Book Fair! There were so many people I had to get rid of some parts of my HP Gryffindor student costume in order to be able to breathe! I was in good company though because there were a lot of other Cosplayers that ran around the entire book fair area as well. 😉 I swear, some of them were really dedicated, walking in their warm costumes for hours! They certainly have all my respect because after only two hours I already looked like a sloppy Gryffindor:

Sloppy Gryffindor

The cupboard under the stairs was really the only place you actually had to yourself. *lol* If you wanted to be a part of the fair you eventually had to become a member of the crowd though! So after a while we went out of the cupboard and mingled with the mass of people once again. 😉

There were so many great authors and I got a glimpse of them when they had their book signings! The waiting line for the famous authors was so long that we gave up on it though. I really would have loved to talk to Jojo Moyes or Sebastian Fitzek but I would have had to wait for hours and there were so many other interesting things going on! So we only took pictures of them and then continued on our journey!

Jojo Moyes

This said I got an autograph from Jessica Koch though! She sent me her book „So Near the Horizon“ about two years ago and asked me to read and review it. So there was no way I could miss out on the chance of talking to her! Unfortunately we were only able to exchange a couple of sentences, but it definitely was worth the long wait! ❤

Since this was my first huge book fair I learned quite a lot this weekend and I thought I’d share a little bit of this particular wisdom with you:

  • There are Shuttle Busses that drive directly from the Airport (Terminal 1) to the Frankfurt Book Fair and back again. (EUR 7,50 per ride) Just be careful with the timing and frequency of those busses. For instance on Saturday they only drove between 08:00 – 12:00 a.m and the Book Fair Team as well as the Hotline gave us a wrong info. We arrived at 12:15 and waited an hour until one of those busses arrived just to find out that the bus driver was already done with his shift. We only had luck that this was the BEST BUS DRIVER EVER and that after seeing our sad faces he actually agreed to drive us to the fair! BEST BUS DRIVER EVER: If you ever read this we owe you big time! ❤ Thank you so much!
  • If you want to line up for the book signing of your favourite author you better know the book publisher she/he works with. If you look up her/his signing time you’ll only find the hall she/he’s in but those halls are big and the only way to find the right booth is by looking for the publisher. It’s a lesson we had to learn the hard way. 😉
  • A recommendation: Buy a weekend ticket. Day tickets cost 22 Euros and a weekend ticket costs 30. With a day ticket you can’t leave the fair grounds anymore and if you truly want to see all the publishers it’s better to have more time! We had a weekend ticket and we could leave and come as we pleased which was very convenient. XD
  • Take water and food with you. The security let us pass with all our food and water bottles, which was really great because at the book fair we would have had to pay about 3 Euros for 0,20 litres. Which is A LOT of money! (They even charged 3 Euros just for water!)
  • If you come directly form the airport you can store your luggage at the wardrobe. If you want to explore the entire fair ground you better take your jacket with you though. Some parts of the fair are open air and October is definitely to cold just to go out there with your shirt.
  • The fair grounds are huge! So if google earth tells you, you only have to walk 7 minutes to your hotel: Don’t believe it! *lol* Dr. Google claimed we only had to walk 7 – 10 minutes to our hotel but in the end it took us about 20 minutes to get out of the fair grounds and then another 10 minutes to walk to our destination. XD

Okay, I think that’s it! For now anyway! My brain is fried and I can’t think of anything else atm! If you still have some questions you can always ask them in my comments! I won’t bite, promise! Or, well, at least not much! 😛

I had such a blast at the book fair and I met so many new authors! (Some of them even in the waiting line for other authors. *lol*) So I hope my blog post wasn’t only able to convey how much I enjoyed this weekend but also was interesting to read! Thanks for your attention!

And now to the interesting stuff: Your opinions! Did you ever visit a book fair? Was it cool or were you as blown away by it as my bestie and I? XD Which book fairs did you visit? Can you recommend me some? I really would love to hear your thoughts on this! (ideas and suggestions are always welcome! Maybe next year I’ll visit another book fair, you never know. 😉 )

My 1st Bloggiversary!!! =D

Hey there, my lovelies! ❤

Yes, you read right! It’s my first Bloggiversary (yep, I write it with two „g“s, don’t ask me why! *lol*) and I don’t even know how that happened! I mean: WOW! I’ve been blogging for a year now and the time went by so fast it still feels like I just started. XD But no, exactly a year ago I wrote my first blog post and I’ve been blogging like crazy ever since. 😉

I feel like I learned so much and made so many new friends on here! To be honest, I was kind of scared of failing when I started my blog but you guys were amazing and welcomed me with open arms. ❤ I can’t believe there are already 192 of you out there following my blog posts and discussing books with me! It’s such an incredible number I can’t even! XD Especially if you consider that to follow someone’s blog is actually some sort of commitment! I mean to get a notification whenever someone writes a new post?! That’s dedication!! (Dedication even my brother-in-law didn’t have!! *LOL* He followed me at the beginning of the year and unfollowed me 2 months later with the words: „I’m sorry, but I get so many mails I can’t keep up with your blog.“)

I know in comparison to other bloggers I’m probably frying little fish, but considering that I’m not only going to work 4 days a week but also have a little child I’m proud that I even managed to post twice a week. XD

Anyway! What I’m trying to say is that I’m sending a HUGE „thank you“ to all of you that still decided to klick that (ominous) button! ❤ *lol* I appreciate each and every one of you and I’m very glad to call you my friends!

So what did I achieve this year? (please bear with my nerdy self that loves a decent statistic 😛 )

  • I invented my blog meme Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs which funnily worked out pretty awesome for me! Apparently I’m the only one who does it though so yeah. *lol* If you ever decide to give it a try please link back to me. I’d love to know if anyone else is happy with it! XD
  • I started to write monthly Wrap Ups and it really helps to keep track of my reading progress!
  • I implemented my own discussion post that’s named Fuss, Cuss & Discuss! (Let’s see how that one goes. I just started so I’m curious if a lot of you will join my discussions. 😉 )
  • I discovered the „planning“ option! (Very, very useful if you’re working and don’t have all too much time! Haha! 😀 )
  • I drew my library fox, my paws and the leave tendril! 😀
  • I wrote a total of 124 (125 if you count this one too) blog posts and I just realized what a huge number this is! *lol* O_o
  • I got 944 comments and 1.781 likes for my blog posts. *whistles*
  • About 3.504 people visited my blog and another 7.218 viewed it during those last 12 months.
  • And last but not least, I have 192 amazing followers! 😉

Rankenzeile

Mhmm it’s been a wild year, but I get the impression that you actually want me to continue to write. *lol* 😛

Joking aside, I’m so going to keep up this blog! It’s my second baby and I wouldn’t know what to do without you guys! I might be busy with my family, friends, work, my child and life in general, but every Friday I have 3 hours to work on my blog and I make sure to use them as good as I can! XD

So once again, thanks for reading my reviews and blog posts, thanks for sticking with me and for clicking that follow button! Thank you for all the support and the nice welcome into the blogging community! I love you all! ❤

Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs

hugs'n'kisses or dismissed by the missus

Ha! I’m still not done with the last book I chose when I did my blog meme but considering that it’s „The Poppy War“ I think we can agree that this is okay. I mean this book is HUGE!!! 544 pages isn’t something you read that fast, especially if you’re like me and read 5 books at the same time. *lol*

Anyway! Let’s move on and do this! XD

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Choose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 294, so for instance I’ll pick 59, 167 and 253)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (59 – Strong Signal, 167 – Scarred, 253 – Essenz der Götter I)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (Essenz der Götter I: Okay, it’s been ages I last read a German book but this author is from Lower Austria, writes fantasy books and is still pretty unknown. So in short: I’m curious and new authors need all the support they can get. Especially Austrian ones, because, yeah we’re a little country! *lol* )

One to kiss and keep, (Scarred: This sounds too serious for me right now so I’ll just keep it for another time when I’m more ready to tackle a topic like that!)

One to dismiss and weep! (Strong Signal: This book made it easy to dismiss it. I’d love to read this m/m romance but I can’t get it in my country so yeah, there’s that. 😦 I might as well delete it from my list if I can’t buy it. *sniff*)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

Rankenzeile

And here comes the moment where I mention that I’m very happy with this blog meme!! When I started with it in January this year there were 303 books on my TBR and I thought I’d never be able to read them all. Almost nine months later my TBR is reduced to 289 books and I feel like I got this!!! *lol* I GOT THIS!!! Yesh! *does a happy dance*

Well, erm, yeah! Back to the post! XD

So what about you? Did you try my blog meme? Did it work out for you or didn’t it make any difference at all? Tell me and let me know! 😉

Another month has passed and it’s once again time for my blog meme! (Probably more than ever because I’ve been a very bad girl and added way too many books to my TBR! I blame it all on my amazing fellow bloggers. 😛 )

So without further ado, let’s do this! *lol*

The rules:

1.) Link back to the original post @ The Sassy Library Fox (I really want to know if it works out for you and I’m curious about your book choices! ;-))

2.) Choose 3 random numbers from 1 to the end of your TBR list. (In my case it are 3 random numbers from 1 – 294, so for instance I’ll pick 73, 181 and 267)

3.) Take a look at the 3 books on your TBR. (73 – King, 181 – The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, 267 – The Poppy War)

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (The Poppy War: This is number 8 on My Book List 2019 so I’d be damned if I wouldn’t use the chance to read it now! 😛 )

One to kiss and keep, (The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue: Three good reasons to keep it in my list: 1.) It’s not out yet! 2.) It’s V.E. Schwab!!! 3.) A love story between a girl and the devil?? How could I say no to this???)

One to dismiss and weep! (King: This seems to be a dark romance and I might keep it in the back of my mind and actually read it one day. For now I’ll scratch it from my list though.)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

The midterm check!

Hey there, my lovelies!

Okay, technically it’s not the middle of the year anymore, I mean we already have July, but I gotta work with the time I have and since it’s not all too much you get my half-year summary now. AND because someone needs to call me out on my horrible reading behaviour! *lol* (Even if it’s myself… >_<)

Statistics don’t lie and mine tells me I’m awful at keeping to My Book List 2019! Seriously, what’s wrong with me? XD How come I barely read any of the books I said I wanted to read? There were 40 books on my list and according to my goodreads challenge I already read 46. Unfortunately only 8 of them actually were books from my list!

I don’t know about you, but I think I’m procrastinating too much! There are so many awesome books on my list and because I know they are going to be great I don’t dare to touch them. Which means I’m standing in my own way and I need to change that!

I guess the best way to do this is to take a closer look at the books I already read and to take it from there. So without further ado here is my eye-opening statistic:

chart

Urgh! *cringes* Okay, that hurt! *lol* 35% of the books I read weren’t even on my list and only 22% of them were on my reading lists from 2018 and 2019. Ouch! And to make it even worse only 10% are from 2019?! AHHHH!!! Someone please help me! XD

But hey it could always be worse, right? I couldn’t have read any of the books on my list so I guess 10% is good. (At least for me! 😉 ) Plus I still have 6 months left, okay technically it are more like 5 1/2 months but if I go through with my list I could actually manage to read them. 😀

Reading Pattern

That is, of course if I change my reading pattern. I definitely need to read more ARCs and less library books. My library is too tempting, I swear! >_<  Considering I’m trying to pull out books from my Bookie Jar every month I seem to be doing okay in that department though. Apparently my monthly blog meme Hugs’n’kisses OR Dismissed by the Missus/Messrs is working out pretty well too! 😀

So knowing all this I’ll try to plan the last six months of this year accordingly! Okay, okay, I’ll try! Better?! *lol*

Rankenzeile

What about you? Do you have a book list as well and did you keep to it? Are libraries tempting you too? Are you afraid to start reading awesome books and if yes, did you find a way to stop procrastinating?

Talk to me and let me know! 😉

Originally I only planned to let my giveaway run for a week, but we all know how unpredictable life can be so yeah… it eventually were two weeks which gave you plenty of time to throw your hat into the ring. 😛

4.)  Then you follow the rhyme:

One to hug and read, (Flutter: Romantic Suspense? I’ve never read anything in this genre before so I guess it’s about time to broaden my horizon! XD)

One to kiss and keep, (Untitled Novella ACOTAR #3.2: I still hope that Lucien will get more page time so I can’t dismiss it until I know more about it’s story line! ❤ )

One to dismiss and weep! (Article Three: About a year ago I would have loved to read this but right now I just can’t bring myself to go for another dystopian series. The rebel girl that destroys the system… Been there, done that, got the freaking t-shirt. *lol*)

5.) Read the book you hugged and kept within a month and repeat the process as often and as frequently as you like. (I’ll do this once a month and hopefully it will help me to reduce my TBR ;-P)

I could cry over the fact that the number of my TBR list grew again but in fact I’m happy that I’m actually going through with my blog meme. I’m sure it would have grown even more if I wouldn’t do this monthly so yeah, there’s that. *lol*
