Library Hopping & A Huge Book Haul

Hey there, my lovelies! 🙂

As you all know (and you’re probably tired of me complaining about it. *lol*) my library is still partly closed and after 1 1/2 months in which I couldn’t access my precious English section they apparently decided that they’d close the entire library until the 10th of August. >_<

I hate to say it, but „Oh woe is me?“ XD

Luckily, I have an awesome bestie and we both decided it’s about time to go take a closer look at other libraries. I mean we’re talking about Vienna here, it’s not like we wouldn’t have a huge variety. 😉

So in the end we started at one and then took it from there and I swear, I’m in awe of the Viennese libraries now. *lol* It’s amazing what you stumble across when you leave your favourite haunt and decide to take another route  path! I was surprised to find out that they have so many newly published books and even more surprised that they weren’t borrowed. Haha! Which in all honesty, was pretty awesome for me.

All things considered we made it to three different libraries and by the end of our hopping I had 10 books in my backpack and was a smiling and happy camper! *lol* Some might even say I looked like the cat that ate the canary. 😛

I swear, I never borrowed that many books from the library at the same time but damn it was worth it. Plus I even found „Interview with the Vampire“ which is actually on My Book List 2019! I’ve been looking for that one for ages and was astonished to find it in one of their branches. 😀

At one of the libraries one of their employees even started to chat with us and seemed to be really intrigued by our library hopping. Apparently this was an actual thing a few years ago, but now no one is doing it anymore. I think we kinda made his day because he was very sweet and even recommended some other libraries that have huge English sections as well. XD

So all told yesterday was a huge success! My back might hurt but look at this wonderful book haul, it’s a sight to behold:

Now I just need to read them all! *LOL*

Wish me luck guys! Something (and the library deadline) tells me that I’ll need it! 😛

Did you read any of those already and if „yes“ did you like them? Tell me and let me know!

*hugs’n’kisses*

  1. Ahhhhh library hopping sounds so fun!! And oooh, I really like Warcross and What If It’s Us! And Wonder Woman: Warbringer (the only other one I’ve read) is pretty fun too!

    1. It was! I swear I looked like a Cheshire cat skimming through the shelves! *lol* It’s good to hear you liked „Warcross“ and „What If It’s Us“! I wanted to read those two for ages but never found them at my usual library. XD I’m curious about all the DC Icons books and hope I’ll find Catwoman and Superman as well. =)

  2. That sounds like a super fun activity, I might need to try it 😀
Since I’m a fellow victim of the Viennese library renovation (although they are reopened as of 2 days ago, so yay!), can you recommend any specific branches that have a good selection of English novels? :-*

    1. It is! You should definitely try it! =)
And yeah I’m sure there were a lot of people who suffered under the Viennese library renovation. *lol* I’m so glad it’s open again now, but only the lower floor because now they are renovating the upper one. XD
As a matter of fact I can. *lol* There was a really nice guy at one of the libraries and he gave us infos about the libraries that have a big English section. I even visted some of them already so prepare for a long list:

Bücherei Wieden, Favoritenstraße 8, 1040 Wien – They have a big section of English books with a focus on thrillers.
Kinderbücherei der Weltsprachen, Hütteldorfer Str. 81a, 1150 Wien – This is a gem of a library, they have a lot of English children and YA books but also books in every possible language you can imagine. 😉
Bücherei Philadelphiabrücke, Meidlinger Hauptstraße 73, 1120 Wien – This is the second biggest library after the main one. 😉 And they have A LOT of English books. XD
Bücherei Hernals, Hormayrgasse 2, 1170 Wien – They have a lot of English books too.
Bücherei Penzing, Hütteldoferstraße 130d, 1140 Wien – According to the nice library man they have a very big selection of English books as well. It’s already on our list for our next library hopping. *lol*

Phew that was a long answer but I hope it will help you find great books! XD

  3. Library hopping is my favorite activity – in Vienna no less? My favorite book on your stack is, The Dry. It’s a page turner with a good surprise ending. Can I suggest another one? I just finished Educated by Tara Westover. Non fiction about a girl who was raised by survivalist parents. Fascinating.

    1. I’m glad I found another person that enjoys library hopping! It’s definitely becoming a hobby of mine. 😉 I heard so many good things about „The Dry“ and got curious so I hope it will live up to my (by now) high expectations. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look it up!
